LMAO

It's like that joke I've heard or read, that you should go with your wife and baby child to the supermarket, dressed humbly, and have the baby in the filthiest clothes you can find, and make sure the baby is not bathed for some time. Fill up your shopping cart with all the booze you can find, beer, whisky bottles, vodka, everything, and add a small package of diapers and one can of baby food at the top. At the cash register, pretend you don't have enough money for everything and take out the baby food and diapers out. Try to get out of the supermarket alive if you can.

The Thief and the Cobbler PC Game
Time
OK so here's from someone who speaks portuguese for 24 years:

Está escrito entre as constelações infinitas, nos paraísos celestiais, e nas profundezas do mar esmeralda e em cada grão de areia, no vasto deserto, que o mundo que nós vemos é um sonho visível externo, de uma realidade visível interna...

Translated "heavens" as paraísos (paradises/heavens), not as céus (skies/heavens).

Is it? I didn't read it fully, and I don't know it by heart, I've seen it about three times. Yeah now that I read it, it looks like it was generated by a translation program. Let me try to translate it to english.

It's written, between the unlimited constellations, from the "heavenly skies", and from the deeps of the emerald sea, and over each grain of sand, in the extense desert, that the world we see, is a world "from outside and visible dream", from an inner visible reality...

Dr. Jones' Tenure Denied
Time
Not only Dr. Jones was that irresponsible and criminal, if you think about it, he was absolutely useless on "Raiders" AND he caused World War 2 and the Holocaust.

If it wasn't for him, the nazis would have never found the ark and it would not be stored in a lone box in a gigantic warehouse.

And if they did, chances are they would take it to Hitler and open it before him (the Nazis would probably convince Belloq to do so), thus melting Adolf Hitler in a "80s Industrial Light and Magic" way before WW2 and saving millions of lifes.

Six words for you: Neon Genesis Evangelion live action movie.

I think right now, he's more busy with getting Halo off the ground than worrying about Evangelion.

Don't overastimate his wish to ruin this anime masterpiece forever. There's always the Movie Muprhy's laws: if an undesired movie gets into some sort of pre-production, it'll be made and it'll be horrible.

Languages
Time
European Portuguese (which is basically, well, from Portugal) have some differences on how words are spelled, the way some verbs are conjugated (not gramatically, but the use of those verbs), and a very distinct vocabulary. The accent is so much different that sometimes it gets hard to understand what a portuguese is saying. Brazillian portuguese is spoken in a more clear, well pronounced manner, while in portugal sometimes vowels have different sounds ("a" sounds like "oo" and "e" sounds like "ah" in parabéns - congratulations) parts of a word are not pronounced at all.

Portuguese and Spanish have the same origin. On one way we have spanish, and the other we have a second language that derived in two: galician and portuguese (which are very similar).

Eeto, watashi wa sakunen kara kumon ni nihongo o benkyoushiteimasu, demo... sukoshi hanasu kotogadekimasu ne...

Here in Brazil Kumon offers japanese classes for kids and adults due to our huge japanese immigrant population (highest japanese population outside Japan). So I just go there once or twice a week and study at home whenever I can. Sadly, for the past few months, I've been so busy I'm having trouble keeping up.

Wii won't bomb. The pre order numbers already make it a success.

And learning a new language is waaay better than spending time playing videogames. I can say that from my own experience, being able to fluently speak in english (and I speak better than I write) has opened several doors for me professionally speaking. Jedisage, may I ask what language are your kids going to learn?

So I take it nobody knows anything about preorders for Wii/PS3.

I've replied before my Sony post, saying that I was able to pre order Wii and have it confirmed. Over here, the first wave of pre order has sold out for Wii and for PS3 imports, the next wave of pre orders are for delivery on mid december.

O_O

That's THREE TIMES WHAT IT COST IN AMERICA!

It'll cost about R$3100.00, and according to Google: 3 100 Brazil reais = 1 449.47866 U.S. dollars

Let me remind you that half of it is taxes. Over here, videogames are the non-tobacco and non-alcohool items with highest taxes, because our government tries to control the defict of what comes in and gets out of the country. Sadly, the taxes are applied to videogames sold by brazillian stores regardless of where the videogame was produced, so it kills our videogame industry as well. When the politicians responsible for this ruling are asked, they claim not to know exactly what a videogame is.

Still, even considering the taxes, it's still quite expensive. So, what happens is, we tend to buy videogames from overseas, mostly america and asia, through the internet, a strategy that some people from europe also resort to. But that's what Sony is trying to fight. They are closing down Hong Kong websites that sold videogames cheaper all over the world LEGALLY so they can have more money into their pockets.

Also, some news for Sony fans: Sony was able to close down several asiatic console websites that LEGALLY, I wanna repat that, legally, imported videogame products into south america and europe from asia, for cheaper prices. Sony bribed some lawyers and oficcials and managed to guarantee that we PAY the 1800 dollars the full PS3 is going to cost here. And no, I am not exagerating or kidding, thatS the official price here in Brazil.
