Why should I put him on ignore?  It's fun watching him go out of his way to contribute only negativity.  I keep wondering when he's going to implode in on himself.

hate to say it, but that's why i put nobody on my ignore list. besides, i go both ways sometimes.

Me too, brother, me too.

Wait, we're talking about flying a starship in forward and reverse, right?

i was referring to taking both sides of an argument actually. i didn't realize i had made a gay joke. whoops!

from wat i understand is that at first, Obi-wan killed luke's father.

Nope, that was never part of the story (that we are aware of), although it would have been a pretty cool reveal.  The notion that Obi-Wan killed Luke's father was from the fake page of the script in ESB in order to preserve the true secret from even those who worked on the movie.

Which rubs in just how much it was a SECRET and supposed to be a surprise. That surprise is an important part of ESB. And the point there is that the film sure as hell wasn't designed to be seen after a whole trilogy that tells you Luke's father turns into Vader. Just as it's supposed to be a surprise that the little green guy was Yoda, because the film wasn't designed to be seen after a whole trilogy in which everybody knows Yoda is a little green guy who talks backwards. The OT, contrary to propaganda, was not designed to be seen after watching the prequel trilogy, as one big six-part movie. Obviously, Lucas had some sort of prequel trilogy thought up back then to some extent, but he didn't design the OT to be seen right after it. He designed the OT as if it was intended to be seen without viewing any other Star Wars material before it. (And of course you can bet that whatever PT he had planned back then was damn different from what he ended up with.)

i think GL put the OT first on purpose. this way we got to wonder how the hell anakin became vader. then the PT comes and explains everything.

besides, if the PT came first, we'd be complaining about the OT, that is if it was as big a success as the OT was back then.

Personally for the reasons I've already described I'd prefer the original dialogue but spoken by Ian, but if you were to go down that route why not go a bit further with your shifting and cut much of the grovelling and to the chase?

VADER: What is thy bidding, my master?

EMPEROR: There is a great disturbance in the Force, we have a new enemy.

VADER: I have felt it.

EMPEROR: He could destroy us.

VADER: Is that possible? He's just a boy, Obi-Wan can no longer help him.

EMPEROR: The Force is strong with him. The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.

VADER: If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.

EMPEROR: Yes, yes, he would be a great asset. Can it be done?

VADER: He will join us or die, my master.

the third  line for vader kinda sounds sandwhiched together, i think it'd be better as two lines. and i still think we need to keep the line "young skywalker" or "the young rebel who destroyed the death star" or something similiar.

if i was a complete stranger to the movie, i might wonder who this new "enemy" is.

STAR WARS: LAST OF THE JEDI (fanedit of 'Return of the Jedi' - unfinished project)
Time

i'm srry for commenting but this thing is an abomination to the OT and ROTJ. Luke and Leia loving each other? this isn't the best fan edit i've seen. nothing compared to adywan's and asteroid man's. Luke and Leia are bro and sis. end of story.

btw, rise of the dark knight, crappy title and it sounds like a title for a batman movie.

Um, rcb, no offense, but who gives a crap what’s in the novelization?

VADER: Our destruction? Who?
I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that the guy who penned this line is not regarded by literary critics as one of the premier scribes of our time.

1987 is the copyright date for the novel. and i give a crap about the novel. granted the writing is a little weird, but its a classic.

anyways on ur point corellian, vader was planning to use luke to destroy the emperor so he played dumb during the conversation. whethe or not the emperor was aware i do not know

Ugh. Any chance of getting McDiarmid to record the line? ;-)

Not willing to reconsider “the son of Anakin Skywalker”? How about “the Rebel Skywalker”? We’ve got to be able to come up with something more fitting than “young.”

Here’s an outside-of-the-box idea. They both know who they’re talking about, right?

VADER: What is thy bidding, my master?

EMPEROR: There is a great disturbance in the Force.

VADER: I have felt it.

EMPEROR: We have a new enemy.

VADER: Yes, my master.

EMPEROR: He could destroy us.

VADER: He's just a boy. Obi-Wan can no longer help him.

EMPEROR: The Force is strong with him. The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.

VADER: If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.

EMPEROR: Yes. He would be a great asset. Can it be done?

VADER: He will join us or die, my master.

I’ll keep trying to come up with other alternatives. What are acceptable audio sources for the Emperor’s voice? Musical Journey has been ruled out. How about ROTS and ROTJ?

I was actually just thinking of that (omitting Luke's reference entirely, in the beginning part of the dialog), as I was reading through this page.  It'd work pretty damn well, IMHO...

why we all up in debate about this?

adywan has it basically written out as it is in the novel with a few minor changes. why wouldn't he use young skywalker? or even young rebel who destroyed the death star? at least with that he won't mention his name.

here, i'll give u the exact lines from the novel for u guys:

VADER: What is thy bidding, my master?

EMPEROR: There is a grave disturbance in the Force.

VADER: I have felt it.

EMPEROR: Our situation is most precarious. We have a new enemy who could bring about our destruction.

VADER: Our destruction? Who?

EMPEROR: The son of Skywalker. You must destroy him or he will be our undoing.

VADER: He's just a boy. Obi-Wan could not have taught him so much that-. Emperor cuts in

EMPEROR: The Force is strong in him. He must be destroyed.

VADER: If he could be turned, he would be a powerful ally.

EMPEROR: Yes...yes. He would be a great asset. Can it be done?

VADER: He will join us or die, my master.

I pray he was joking.  Well, I guess this isn't strictly for Adywan, so theoretically someone who makes another version of ESB with green lasers would want to have them match in RotJ.  But that would make it an ESB suggestion, not a RotJ one.

I WAS JOKING!!! God! that would look ugly.

anyways, anyone want to do some better mock ups of those AT-ST's when and after they explode? i watched jedi on t.v. and realized how cardboardy it all looked.

plus, the cockpit looked smaller then it was supposed to be, more like the size of a box a television comes in.

Well here's that 'Luke training on Dagobah' idea we were talking about the other day...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFBmHpcX4eA

This is how it would fit in with the fan-o-matic edit. Needs some more tweaking...ideas? Is this scene too early to show Lukes new saber?

Wow ... I like that a lot.  Not much else I can say about it other than that.  I'm quite impressed!

that might work, the scene has to be extended though.
