Laserdisc players - screenshot comparison
Time

Here is the PAL DVE test via my DMR-ES10 feeding the composite output of my momitsu DVD player into the composite input of the ES10, and taking the SVideo out from the ES10 into the Blackmagic Intensity card.

It doesn't seem to be having the same problem as yours, but the rainbows are always there even when the pattern is stationary.

I accidentally had the player set to 4:3 letterbox mode, the next post has the capture after I switched the player to 16:9.

Also interesting, I originally had the player set to NTSC mode as well, even though it was a PAL disc, I captured the test pattern with the PAL disc playing in NTSC mode from the player into the ES10 also in NTSC mode, and it worked better, oddly. Less dot crawl etc.

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)

I went way over what I could afford, but I nabbed it in the end. Hopefully it will be worth it - feeding your kids is over-rated anyway.

Silverwook, I know the seller that print originally came from, so at least I had some idea of its quality and heritage so to speak, but yeah, I went way over budget.

Request: FF or Anybody else who has the Criterion CAV or CLV issues, if there are cue marks present anywhere in the transfer, what do they look like?

If they are regular white circles or something similar than these are probably Eastmancolor show prints. However, if they have any type of "sunburst" design to them, they are Technicolor IB.

Like this: http://www.dvdtalk.com/dvdsavant/s22changecue.html

This is the cue-dot from the Criterion CLV release.

The ebay auction of GoldFinger on Super8 is legit, it is a Derann release and is great quality.

Other complete bond films on super8 are Thunderball also by Derann, The World is not enough by CHC and You Only Live Twice by CHC.

Derann also had a 1200ft digest version of Never say Never again.

Looking at my Laserdiscs I have the Criterion of Goldfinger, Warners NSNA in widescreen and GoldenEye, but that's all.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

I agree that even if talk of your work goes on beyond the particular shots, it should be quite acceptable, even welcome, to take up otherwise dead air where you didn't make any changes with further explanation.

Poita, are you saying you'd take audio of him talking about all of his work and then edit/arrange that into a topical commentary track?  If so, I could see it being interesting, though I do enjoy the flow of a real time talk; but then I may just love the occasional mild rambling and accidental insight that tends to slip in...

Actually I meant to do that, or attempt a picture in picture version that has the part being discussed in a window while the movie continues on, or have the movie pause and other video play during the crucial bits of the talk and then continue on. I've seen it on a few bluray titles and I like the effect.

It is in my post above.

Now lets stop cluttering Harmy's thread with stuff.

Harmy, it would be great if sometime in the future you recorded a track talking about some of the shots. I could put together a commentary track for BD that could work from that, even if talking about any given shot went for way way longe than the shot itself, it can still work. I know there would be huge interest.

Testing the DMR-ES10 as a comb filter with the very tough AVIA test patterns.

I used a momitsu DVD player directly via Svideo out to the DMI:

AVIA Moving test pattern:

Same pattern from the DVD player via composite through the ES10 and output from the ES10 via SVideo (Y/C) to the BMI.

Other useful test patterns on the AVIA disc (all via the ES10)

AVIA delay:
