Yep, him saying he’s going to “pull the Rebels apart piece by piece” really gives off a good guy vibe don’t it?

I’m not sure English is their first language so maybe it doesn’t make sense to them.

But no, Thrawn is solidly an Imperial lifer.

Correct, and unfortunately the the trailer didn’t have subtitles. Thanks for the info

Just a quick question - who is supposed to be that Thrawn guy? At least is he a hero or a villain?

Man, you must not be big on EU or at least missed the Thrawn Trilogy books by Timothy Zahn. He’s an Imperial Grand Admiral and arguably one of the most popular EU characters ever created (not to me but a large section of the fan base).

Correct, the only thing I know is that there is something called “Thrawn Trilogy”, but I have never read any SW novel / comic book. So he’s a big villain? Because the trailer evoked the feeling of a bad guy turning into a good guy.

So … for those of you who don’t know it yet, they made Sulu gay in Beyond. I thought it’s a horrible idea and it looks like George Takei agrees. Why do they have to do things like that? I don’t understand this type of writing. If they wanted to have a gay character, they could create a new gay crew member or multiple members.

George’s reaction : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3680060/George-Takei-says-s-unfortunate-Sulu-character-played-Star-Trek-decades-depicted-openly-gay-latest-movie-directors-wanted-honor-LGBT-activism.html

Yoda and Palpatine NEVER should have been given lightsabers.
Time

I said it a million times before - giving Yoda a lightsaber is like giving Gandhi a tommy gun.
And why would the Emperor, a guy who shoots lightning bolts out of his fingers need a lightsaber? It’s just stupid. Wouldn’t it be much more creepier/scarier/effective if Palpatine would kill the Jedi who came to arrest him by simply breaking their necks with his mind and slowly going away smiling?

TNG was started in 2011 and released between 2012 and 2014.
And the Blu-rays were a mix of upscaled SD footage (live action scenes for which they didn’t find the negatives in time), CGI scenes (effects scenes shot on film for which they didn’t find the elements, and effects scenes done originally in CG) and new digital composites of new HD scans of original effects elements.

Extended original cut of first film released way back?
Time

I wrote it so many times in this forum, but I clearly remember:

  • the grappling hook scene - Luke missed for the first time, Leia kissed him, and then he tried it for the second time and was successful.
  • Luke meeting Biggs in the hangar before the Death Star battle was for me always there, and I thought they have actually made it SHORTER for the 1997 SE
  • during the briefing when Luke says he used to shoot womp rats from his T-16 to the other guy, they shake hands and introduce themselves. I remember he introduced himself as Wedge, it was weird to see that there’s another Wedge in the battle and this guy appears in any other scene

Were these scenes in the movie? I used to grow up with different high generation bootleg copies of different European prints, so originally I thought that maybe some European country has received a different cut or something like that, but they still can be only a part of my imagination. Why? Because I have absolutely no proof that they existed.

So yes, maybe the memory can play tricks on you. You can’t be 100% sure about anything what happened 4 decades ago unless you have a thing which can be considered a PROOF.

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)
Time

Thanks for the replies.
So, the mono mix sounds like a low bitrate mp3 because it was source from an mp3? 😃 Thanks for the link, I’ll get it asap.
There is a very strange thing with the “We seem to be made to suffer” shot - I tried it 3 times, and 3 times it behaved the same as I wrote. I closed PowerDVD and re-opened it. I played it again and the scene now plays correctly. Weird, but it was definitely a problem on my side.

So, after watching the whole Blu-ray I have to again say THANKS ! I loved it, I was actually excited during the trench battle sequence and DS destruction, which I found hard by watching the DVD/official BD versions

I have FINALLY been able to buy some dual layer Blu-ray discs (I had no clue that you can’t walk into a shop and buy some), I burned it and I’m watching it right now.

A few comments (some of them were maybe addressed already, I’m sorry if I missed them) :

  • the crawl selection comes too soon, logically it would belong after selecting the “Play movie” option
  • the main menu is beautiful
  • not enough bonus features, I was surprised you didn’t include at least the stuff which came with the first mkv version. I don’t like empty space on expensive discs 😃
  • the left and right spaceship buttons should react automatically
  • do you have a raw unprocessed version of the mono mix somewhere? Whoever did the noise reduction was BRUTAL on it. Many of the voices sound very “limited”, like a horrible mp3, the same goes for a lot of sound effects. Some of the effects (e.g. Aunt Beru’s “machine” in the “Have you seen Luke this morning?” scene) are missing completely, probably it was considered to be noise. The music is heavily deformed too, mainly in the higher frequency range. Is there a chance that you still have a “raw” recording somewhere?
  • during the droid in the desert scene the video freezes for a few seconds (Cyberlink PowerDVD) and then plays like 1fps during the next few seconds

Now something positive - the video looks beautiful. I love your colour choices so far (I’m watching the Leia hologram scene right now), I love the grain, even the gentle flicker and weave are actually making the thing look like a 1977 film. There are some problems, but they’re so minor that they’re not worth mentioning and I think I was way too critical 😃

Thank you very much for your hard work (that goes to all people involved), I still can’t believe that within 13 years I went from trying to find a replacement for my crappy 4:3 VHS to having a wonderful 1080p scan of a theatrical print. Thanks again.

This is absolutely their right.

No, not at all.

The content in the fan production must be original, not reproductions, recreations or clips from any Star Trek production. If non-Star Trek third party content is used, all necessary permissions for any third party content should be obtained in writing.

Did they ever heard about things like de minimis or fair use?

If the fan production uses commercially-available Star Trek uniforms, accessories, toys and props, these items must be official merchandise and not bootleg items or imitations of such commercially available products.

They have no legal right to request that.

The fan production must be a real “fan” production, i.e., creators, actors and all other participants must be amateurs, cannot be compensated for their services, and cannot be currently or previously employed on any Star Trek series, films, production of DVDs or with any of CBS or Paramount Pictures’ licensees. -

They have no right to request that. They have no right to prevent people associated with previous Trek productions (unless they had it in their contracts)

CBS and Paramount Pictures do not object to limited fundraising for the creation of a fan production, whether 1 or 2 segments and consistent with these guidelines, so long as the total amount does not exceed $50,000, including all platform fees, and when the $50,000 goal is reached, all fundraising must cease. -

Again, which legislation act allows them to request something like this?

No unlicensed Star Trek-related or fan production-related merchandise or services can be offered for sale or given away as premiums, perks or rewards or in connection with the fan production fundraising.

Again, who gives them the right to request something like that? Sure people can not sell Star Trek items or their illegal copies, but “fan production-related merchandise or services”??? They don’t own that!

The fan production cannot derive revenue by selling or licensing fan-created production sets, props or costumes.

The same as above. If I create something I am the owner and I can sell it. UNless it looks like something that Paramount / CBS owns they have no right to prohibit it.

The fan production must be family friendly and suitable for public presentation. Videos must not include profanity, nudity, obscenity, pornography, depictions of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or any harmful or illegal activity, or any material that is offensive, fraudulent, defamatory, libelous, disparaging, sexually explicit, threatening, hateful, or any other inappropriate content.

I hate to repeat myself, but they have no right to request this. Did they ever hear about free speech? People are allowed to do parodies, even porn spoofs.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely DO understand WHY are they doing this, but I hope that somebody rich enough with a team of great lawyers will “consult” this with CBS/Paramount.
