I do have different versions in different quality. Wouldn’t it help if everybody would put some screenshots from his/her version so that we know which one is the best, or something similar? BTW do you know that there are people who have the bloopers on FILM? Last year I was contacted by a man who claimed that his friend has the bloopers on 35mm film, given to him by Roddenberry himself. There was a video of him projecting the reels on youtube but I can’t find it anymore, probably taken down by CBS.
Freddie Mercury. There’s no competition.
That’s funny, I actually liked the Enterprise characters. I didn’t like Voyager’s characters.
I agree with the name, I always thought they should name the ship e.g. Yorktown. Also original Berman’s pitch sounds really great, it’s a pity the network forced them to change the format to something “more familiar”.
What technology are you talking about?
Stories - I liked almost all of them, mainly the third season.
Am I really the only person who liked the first 3 seasons of Enterprise and hated the last one?
To quote my favourite movie critic “I’d rather see Episode III than blood in my urine”. That doesn’t mean that E3 or any other prequel is good
hello, my first post here. i was unable to find search function on this forum so maybe this doesnt exactly belong here. i have a question regarding dubbing versions. i am from czech republic and i always enjoyed our second vhs dubbing - it has many errors from translation, even some mismatches between characters, but it is wonderfully performed. i believe it was done for 1997 special edition so i understand why did you pick the previous version. however, does anybody know if there is a plan to add this dubb version too? i think i am not the only person from czech republic which would appreciate that, becouse this dubb version is very popular. i even have very good sounding cut of this dubb for gout (someone did it wonderfully before) but my video editing skills are very limited so i would be willing to share it.
I have all czech dubs, if I remember also correctly synchronized to Harmy’s videos. Drop me a PM and I’ll try to find them.
Thanks a lot.
A small status update - right now I am in process of identifying various deleted snippets (most of them are just part of a documentary with no further detail). I have also started to clean up one specific deleted scene (from Conscience of the King), after some work with both AviSynth and PfClean I managed to clean it quite well but I can’t get the colours to an “acceptable” stage, I tried various software including Dr.Dre’s tools and DaVinci Resolve, but I just am not satisfied, I will probably need some help with the colours. But at the same time I am also playing with the blue screen model footage 😃 So yes, my work on this is a completely disorganized mess, but I plan to show something as soon as I will have something to show 😃
What about: Don’t change the movies at all!
I certainly understand that point of view but for a Science Fiction film, certain scenes in the movie look really bad 40 years on. When the X-Wings split their S-foils approaching the Death Star in Star Wars, it looks almost comical.
Really? I absolutely LOVE the shot in the original version and was really mad that they changed it.
GOUT = George’s version of the Original Unaltered Trilogy = 2006 bonus DVDs
mux = multiplex = "join different streams into 1 file"
sync = synchronize
Episode IV
Team -1 is as you say a scan of a theatrical 35mm print, and Harmy’s despecialized edition uses the 2011 Blu-ray as the base, and “undos” all changes using 35mm scans, custom matte paintings, GOUT upscales, custom transitions etc.
In other words, Team Negative 1 release is the REAL theatrical version, the Despecialized edition looks better but some of the parts (e.g. the transitions) are re-created and not authentic.
There have been 5 different audio mixes done for the pre-1997 versions, the 1977 stereo mix, the 1977 4.2 mix (the same “audio content”, just mixed in more channels), and the 1978(?) mono mix (brand new mix using alternate takes, new sound effects etc.). Then there was the 1985 home video remix and the 1993 remix. A nice description of the mixes is here : http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Star-Wars-sound-mixes/id/15294
Episode V
As far as I know the 70mm version was not preserved. There were also 3 different mixes made, a 6 channel mix, a stereo mix and a mono mix.
Episode VI
I think the best version is either the Despecialized edition or the Team Negative 1 “grindhouse” release.
Episode I
Adywan’s DVD wasn’t the theatrical version, he missed at least one change (the missing CGI bridge). If you want the theatrical version you have to get either one of the TV braodcasts or one of the laserdisc transfers.
Episode II
As far as I know only CAM bootlegs are available. And they all look like crap.
Episode III
There were more changes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiCn0O4aF_8
So right now my opinion is…
1 / 2 ) Star Wars / The Empire Strikes Back
3) Rogue One
4) The Return of the Jedi
5) The Force Awakens
6) The Attack of the Clones
7) Revenge of the Sith
8) The Phantom Menace
I have intentionally ignored the holiday special, the 2 Ewok movies and the Clone Wars movie - they all are great to watch when you’re drunk, so if you wanted to include them too I would put them between 5 and 6
RIP Rick Partiff 😦 Why does this year so many of my favourite rock stars die ? 😦
The Deleted Magic intro is fan made
Sorry for the inexperienced questions here, but I followed HanDuet’s instructions and downloaded all Harmy’s .RAR files on tehPARADOX. I understand that I have to extract the first file, part 01 first, but the instructions were not clear if I have to continue extracting all of the other files or if the program will do that automatically.
I only extracted a couple of the files but I already have the entire movie. Each time I extract part 2 or part 3, it adds a new folder with an unreadable file, so it was really confusing me.
Thanks.
Depends on what program are you using, but most programs (if not all) should unpack it automatically.
Isn’t the D-Cinema version the same as the DVD?
Hard to say. The only reported change, at the time, was the hand at the end. Not clear if Padme’s ‘to be angry’ stuff is present or not. We don’t know about the deleted speeder either, of course, because no one would have noticed a silly change like that.
The “are you okay? yes” awkward line was mocked quite a bit at the time. I think it would have been noticed or mentioned somewhere if there was a version without it. It was adjusted for the DVD.
Fang Zei, you’re right about the blu-ray. They changed the shot order in that scene. But also at the end of the chase, early in the film, when they go through the power couplings. I believe they also added Anakin’s mom’s voice into his nightmare, or something like that.
Plus they changed the order of the shots when Dooku escapes.
Also, when were the extra speeders removed in the scene where OB1 catches the lightsaber? Was it a DCP change or a DVD change?
Yes.
So, all the original TOS FX shots weren’t lost forever? Can we get a redo on that remastering thing? 😉
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/192846/Yes, please!! I hate the new CGI shots!
There are SOME of the Enterprise shots (in front of a blue screen), but definitely not ALL of them.

I’ve been actually experimenting with this during the weekend, nothing worth showing yet.
So, can anybody tell me what was the point of Forest Whitaker’s character? I mean if you would cut him out of the movie it wouldn’t affect the story at all. The same goes for the subplot with the tentacle monster - why was it there? It looked like they wanted to make us think that the pilot lost his mind and will do something insane in the last act, but they went nowhere with it, he just looked weird in one scene but was completely OK in the next shot.
And also the movie suffered from the same “too much shit going on at the same time” syndrome as 99% of modern Hollywood movies, but still, it was really enjoyable. I don’t know why, but I suddenly want to watch Harmy’s version of Star Wars (aka Episode 4) 😃
Really interested to hear what people think about R1 who didn’t like TFA. This review has me once again leaning to not seeing any more fake SW movies:
<<<But the injunction not to ruin anyone’s good time by “revealing spoilers and detailed story points” is itself revealing, an indication of the meager and disposable pleasures this movie is meant to provide, and also of the low regard its makers have for the audience. It hasn’t always been this way, of course. The first “Star Wars” trilogy had a fresh, insurgent energy, and learning the names of all those planets and galactic adventurers has seemed, to generations of fans, like a new and special kind of fun.
Now, though, it is starting to feel like drudgery, a schoolbook exercise in a course of study that has no useful application and that will never end.

I wasn’t a fan of TFA. I mean I thought it was OK, nothing more. And I think Rogue One, which I have seen a few minutes ago, was much better. But there were way too many "hey look, you remember this, right? " moments.
<fanboy_mode>Sisko better than Picard? How dare you ? 😦 </fanboy_mode>
So, anybody here seen the Roddenberry vault already? I watched it yesterday and I loved every second of the documentaries, there are tons of deleted scenes, many of them truly great! But they need to be restored 😃
