Brand new clips from “The Roddenberry Vault”. I f’in can’t wait till my copy arrives. Come on, amazon!!!

BTW does anybody plan to do some colour correction of the clips? I plan to do some noise reduction, but I suck at colour correcting.

Harmy's STAR WARS Respecialized Edition '97 - AVCHD and MKV Released

Hello!!! I am new in Originaltrilogy.com and I do not know how to download the Respecialized Edition (if I can). Somebody could help me?

Well, reading is a good start.

If you would read the first post, you would find this

This can be found at the usual paradoxical place in the same thread as the Despecialized Edition.

So the next logical thing is to read the Despecialized edition thread : http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Harmys-STAR-WARS-Despecialized-Edition-HD-V25-MKV-IS-OUT-NOW/id/12713

There are detailed information in the first post how to get this.
To make it even easier, this is a direct link to a google document : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yLsvexWBVM8IYSGopKuSfsGk5YIgCwQWd23bqb5ryD4/pub

Why were miniatures shot in multiple passes?
Time

OK this is straight forward question from a guy who tries to understand everything behind blue/green screens etc.
After watching several documentaries, mostly about Star Wars and Star Trek I noticed one thing - ILM created (or popularized?) a new method of filming miniatures - filming them in multiple passes using their motion control camera system.

I know that they did like one pass with the unlit model, one pass with only the lights etc., however I have no clue WHY they did shoot it like this? Does the final optical composite look more “real”, more “3D”? Or is it simply because of some purely technical reason, e.g. minimize the “blue/green spill” problem?

Would this do any good for laserdisc captures? (i.e. the neglected, unaltered version of Millennial Garbage Movie '98)

Yes, stacking frames can really help with laserdisc and VHS captures, it can get rid of player-induced noise, and if you have multiple discs, then it can help remove dropouts and pressing errors, while reducing the chroma noise etc.

I’ve got an opposite question - if you have a grainy DVD and a Blu-ray so degrained that it looks too cartoony, is there a way to combine the HD image with the grain from the DVD?

Info Wanted: Preservation Efforts for the Theatrical Versions of the Prequels?

I know AoTC and ROTS have a hard time restoring the film versions of their theatrical release…

Not ROTS. The only difference between the theatrical and DVD is a cut vs. a wipe. The DVD version was shown in HD so it is available, and the BD has the proper wipe, so a reconstruction would be very simple.

Nope. The wipe, different Wookiee houses during the battle, different audio including e.g. added stormtrooper voices when they attack the tall people …
