Wasn’t it mastered on D1? At least that’s what I read somewhere, that TNG was mastered on D-1 and later they upgraded to D-2,

I used to hate “The Empath” but it grew on me during the years

Am I really the only one who doesn’t give a dlying duck about Mandalorians? The Mandalorian episodes were the most boring ones on Clone Wars and now they’re doing them on Rebels 😦 But at least the ending was something I didn’t expect.

As a huge fan of TOS I can tell you there are 3 episodes from season 3, which I like - Spectre of the Gun, The Tholian Web and All Our Yesterdays.

Has anybody of you guys tried “Stage 9”? I downloaded it but I’m having a nasty case of vertigo…

There’s so much more fun with the scenes…
I am now working on a scene from Conscience of the King, the dialogue with Lenore. When I’m going through it frame by frame, I see things like misaligned channels, “ghosting” which can be found only in the green channel, sometimes the movement is “weird”, for example Lenore’s hand moves, but in one frame only a part of her hand moves, and the rest of the hand moves in the next frame - almost like bad deinterlacing.
Also there are many scenes, which are “squished” for some reason, almost all of them have compression artifacts …
And I’m not going to even talk about the fact that EVERY scene is ruined by huge annoying yellow text saying very intelligent things like “Deleted scene”, “Omitted dialogue”, “alternate take”… Oh really? This is a release for people who have seen TOS a million times before, why are you degrading the quality of the video even more?

Also the transfer… I was very nervous when Denise was saying things like “we telecineed the reels” and “DVD”, but I was hoping that it was just a simple human error. Nope, it looks like they telecined the reels and encoded them to DVDs for the Okudas to catalogue properly, and instead of going back, scanning it properly on a proper 1080p scanner they aparently used the 10 years old DVDs 😦

And people don’t like when I say that CBS are a bunch of (self censorship) who don’t want to invest in Star Trek a cent more than absolutely necessary.

Still, I am happy I have it, I love deleted scenes from absolutely anything, and this release has scenes I was hoping to see when I first read about them online some 20 years ago, so…

As a person who has seen the TOS movies before TOS, I have no problem with THAT change. I would probably accept the redesign if the new show would take place in let’s say the 27th century

Where are you from? I think the non-US discs where more exciting. Why they chose such a boring design for us Americans, and why it was even deemed necessary to be different, is beyond me.

But didn’t you have a book-type packaging? My EU version has picture discs, but a regular “boring” BD packaging

Some time ago I have seen (maybe on youtube or maybe it was shared by somebody here) an old documentary about making of the short CGI animation of the Death Star. The footage was very low quality but I haven’t seen it in any other officially released documentary. I would like to watch it again, but it’s kind of hard to do when you don’t know where have you seen something and how was it called 😃
Does anybody else remember this footage and could help me find it?

Thanks! I have a similar question, hopefully you’ll be able to answer 😃 How about rotoscoping? I think that both Star Wars and Star Trek used this, Wars for lightsabers and Trek for phaser fire, how was it done? I honestly doubt they painted over a 35mm film cell, so I imagine they first “developed” the needed frames to some bigger “prints” - big enough for them to be able to draw over them, and then photographed them again ?
