I'd go with making it look as good as possible. Making it look like the original disc would only be a preservation of an old, fading ip. A full color corrected version would be best, and probably more accurate to the original colors of Star Wars. I really liked the latest sample clip you put up.

This site says that the original aspect ratio is 1.66:1: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/hd-talk/597863-monty-python-holy-grail-3-6-2012-sony.html I'm guessing it's right. A lot of older British films use this aspect.

Mackey256, could you upload the contents of your cover cd to a different site? Box.com doesn't let you download the whole folder, so you have to download them one by one.

You could use dropbox.com (the web version) and the public folder option. As far as I know there is no file size limit. (besides the 2 gb of storage data)

Here's a third. I replaced the whole border with a different one that has more stuff. I also fixed Jabba's tail. It's unrotated to persevere detail.

Have you checked with msycamore? He said he had some good scans in this post. Hopefully he posts them all at some point. He posted a sample of Star Wars and it looked very good. These covers are looking great!
This thread (I think there is a good one somewhere in there) or this site might have what you need. If not, you could pm msycamore. I think he mentioned that he had a bunch of high quality scans he was going to post.

It does not look great, but should hopefully look better when printed. The Yoda image from the dvd cover (the on I linked to) is close enough to this scan. (His walking stick and expression are slightly different) I think you should use that version, as my yoda looks very speckled and faded.
The images on the Return of The Jedi dvd cover are very similar to the vhs ones, so instead of a scan, I think you should just crop them to how they are on the vhs.

These covers have images on them that should be sufficient resolution. They are better than my scans would be, as these ones have no halftone ink artifacts and are nicely color corrected to how they look like on the box.

Oh, btw when you are done with the covers, could you please make alternatives that don't have the hi-fi stereo or CBS/FOX logo on the front side of the cover. I think I would like this look the best. The covers look great.
