Stay classy, Trump Jr!

Someone needs to tell him that when he says dumb things, it reflects badly on dear ol’ dad.

I read the article Donald Trump Jr. was referencing and London’s Mayor did indeed say … Sadiq Khan has said he believes the threat of terror attacks are “part and parcel of living in a big city” and encouraged Londoners to be vigilant to combat dangers.

The comment starts off the article.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/sadiq-khan-london-mayor-terrorism-attacks-part-and-parcel-major-cities-new-york-bombing-a7322846.html

So it’s kinda weird that the New York Times would twist the narrative against a Trump and it would get quoted here as factual? Now, I cannot say why Donald Trump Jr. decided to point out the irony of the comment to the person who said it but I would guess that he felt that since someone made the comment about the New York incident they should remember what they said before saying anything about their own terrorist incident?

I don’t have the answers, just the original article quoted, to show that the tweet was not some crappy random comment from a Trump relative.

In wake of the London attack today, with people dying and still fighting for their lives in hospital, Donald Trump Jr didn’t send condolences - instead he dragged up an old article to attack London’s Mayor - and even fucked that up by taking The Mayor’s words out of context, or just not understanding them.

Yet you think that tweet from him was not some crappy random comment from a Trump relative?

Really?

In America, we have freedom of speech. None of us have to like what he said and I never claimed to agree with what he said on any level. I am sad to hear about what happened and the U.K. and I am personally glad the sob was shot and killed.

Freedom of speech is in a lot of places, and has nothing to do with what I said.

You said ‘…to show that the tweet was not some crappy random comment from a Trump relative.’

I said 'In wake of the London attack today, with people dying and still fighting for their lives in hospital, Donald Trump Jr didn’t send condolences - instead he dragged up an old article to attack London’s Mayor - and even fucked that up by taking The Mayor’s words out of context, or just not understanding them.

Would you like to answer the question about whether you think that tweet from him was not some crappy random comment from a Trump relative?

Jason, you and I get along well, and I’m not going to argue platitudes with you. I don’t support what he said, I don’t like what he said, but he has the right to say it. I read the U.K. article and the article does indeed start out the way I posted it. I took nothing out of context but it is obvious that a lot of people feel that Donald Jr. did. Cool, I’m not arguing their right to do so, nor am I arguing about people feeling that way.

Now, if that U.K. article is wrong, they should be printing a retraction, and apologize to London’s Mayor for it. I don’t know either the London Mayor or Donald Jr. so I cannot and will not speak for them. It would have been appropriate for him to offer condolences but I cannot answer why he didn’t nor can I make him do it. As you said, he is responsible for his own words and actions, not me not you nor his Father. I am more concerned about my fellow human beings overseas than I am about what he said.

That’s all very well - but the only question was, and is, a simple one:-

Do you think that tweet from him (Trump Jnr) was not some crappy random comment from a Trump relative?

Dear UKers,

I am very sorry to hear about the terrorist attack. You have my heartfelt sympathy and prayers. I hope you do not view Trump Jr. as an example of how all Americans feel about this attack.

Sincerely,

Warbler.

^ Well in, Warbler.

I can’t and won’t speak for all us UK’ers - but suffice to say many of us know it’s the minority of people anywhere - in any country - that make insensitive, untimely, and thoughtless (let alone incorrect) comments like those from Trump Jr today, and is no reflection on anyone but Trump Jr himself and those that seek to defend them.

[fill in the blank] Just Died!

Ronnie Moran - died aged 83.

Legend is a word too easily banded about these days in sport - though this man is one, was one and shall forever be one for many footy fans. Nearly 50 years at one club - from player, to coach to caretaker manager and much, much more.

He used to got to few local non-league sides up until very recently - his love for the game - at any and all levels was still there 😃

RIP Bugsy.

This campaign started in the UK last year - to apply pressure on companies to stop advertising - or being associated with - hateful rags like The S*n, Daily Fail and Express ‘newspapers’:-

http://stopfundinghate.org.uk/
https://twitter.com/stopfundinghate
https://www.facebook.com/stopfundinghate
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVywWDUKcDw8yNXMa87ducw

It’s early days, but have already had some success, some publicity, and made many stop and think about the type of company they wish to be associated with - or give money to - as well as the media in general.

Hopefully it’ll have even more success stories - and also prompt people in other countries to stop and think about the more hateful aspects of the media, and what they can do to help stop funding these vile, fear-mongering, divisive and often factually incorrect ‘newspapers’ in their part of the world…

From what I’ve seen of Jr in the past (long before the Presidential run) he always gives you the feeling that his eyes are maybe faintly glowing fire-red and ‘Carmina Burana’ is playing somewhere in the background. Somewhat similar to the Murdoch family… you think Rupert is bad, until you get to know his son James.

^ sums up anyone connected with that vile rag and the two Murdochs.

What 'a Star Wars Story' / anthology / spinoff film would you like to see?
Time

Bingowings said:

The Jedi Must Die
The story is, in essence, a conflation of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None (aka, Ten Little Indians) and Richard Connell’s The Most Dangerous Game, with elements of the Star Wars mythos stirred in for good measure.

It revolves around the search for a Jedi on a far off planet by a group of serious minded people out to find it. The viewer is invited to unfold the mystery along with the characters. Near the ending, there an inserted 30-second break called “The Jedi Break”, where the audience is asked to guess the Jedi’s identity, based on clues from the movie.

A slight tweak here and there and we could have ‘Cabot Cove - a Jedi Mystery’ with serial killer Jessica Fletcher, her typewriter, and set in a place that is strong with the Dark Side of The Force… 😃

Ewan McGregor once again expresses interest in Star Wars return as Obi-Wan Kenobi:-

edit - forgot to say I don’t think some of the possible ‘bigger’ Star Wars Stories will happen until after Episode IX has wrapped - just a feeling that Disney will keep them back until after the Sequel Trilogy has finished. Ideas like a Jedi Purge movie, or an Obi Wan film, or Dexter Jettster - The Kitchen Years, to keep them back for a few $$$s more and use the ‘smaller’ ideas until then… it’s just a feeling - and will be very happy if stuff like this is announced before then 😃

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread

Lord Haseo said:

I wonder how people would see these characters had they not died. For a character like Bohdi all he had was a good death scene so without that there’s nothing to really get emotionally invested in. The only exception is for “blank slate characters” like Eleven and none of the characters in Rogue One come close to being one.

I thought he had a good story (for one of the non-lead characters in the film) - an everyday average Joe has had his eye opened and wants to make amends for what he had done - and when he does the ‘right thing’ and defects he is overawed in something he doesn’t fully understand.

Yet he, the little guy, can still make a difference even when surrounded by more experienced or ‘talented’ people or ‘heroes’ - that he can step up and be just as brave, and important or effective, as them.

I hope we get more characters like this in the coming Star Wars films - yes, there’s always ‘the chosen one’ and larger than life characters - but it’s important to have that grounding - that realism of what it’s like for the everyday Joe in this vast galaxy…

I thought they nailed it with Bhodi.

Fair play to Riz Ahmed for his performance too and the director/editor for keeping that balance between the ensemble Rogue One team. Sure, maybe we’d like to have seen a bit more from each (maybe we would have in pre-reshoots?) but overall each character comes through without weighing or slowing the flow of the film down.

Each to their own though mate.

(I’d have been okay with Bodhi living and escaping the planet - afterall if everyone else was dead on Scarif and he got on another Imperial ship and sneaked off back to Yavin to rejoin the Alliance. Though, probably right he shared the same fate as his fellow Rogue One crew. Poor lad.)

Last Album Listened To

TV’s Frink said:

How does it compare to their other two? I loved their debut but Raise the Pressure was a mixed bag for me and I never even gave this a listen.

For me I liked the 1st half of Raise The Pressure (and Out Of My League as a tune), though the rest was pretty forgettable unfortunately.

This one has a lot more influence from Johnny Marr I think - a fair bit more of his guitar and some bass than the previous 2 albums - to the point where it comes across as more of pop-rock/dance inspired album. Sumner is still great and there are those familiar rhythms still there, just not quite so pronounced.

This is definitely an album where you can it has evolved on what they did before - I enjoy it 😃

(a shame they didn’t do another after this - it would have been interesting to see where they went with it)

No, read it again, and read then read back your post, and then have a think about posting and criticising something you obviously knew nothing about - but chose to deride in a narrow and ignorant manner anyway.

And when you got called on it - using similar language and content of your own post - you then post ‘Yet again a personal attack’.

If my post offends, I apologise - to all the 12 year olds I demeaned. They deserve better than to be used in an example of your ignorance, no?
