Star Wars I - VIII Matching DVD covers?
Time

It may be worth having a look through the blu ray covers to see if anything can be easily adapted, or asking one of the talented people on here to make a new set - in one of the request threads?

Something like this? (from the blu ray cover thread)

or

I’m not a fan of these - though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there are now full matching sets available… (in the DVD covers thread)

Good luck with it mate - hope you find something that catches your eye.

You too my little Frink! Enjoy the sun and the fresh air.

Called for mod. But since Jay isn’t angry at you I dunno what will happen.

I already reported it, was told there’s nothing there to report. It’s fine.

No, you weren’t.

I asked you two questions - both of which you declined to answer - and part of your reply was ‘…it doesn’t really matter’.

After Anchorhead posted, you posted again as part of your reply ‘…like I said it really doesn’t matter’.

You’d do well not to put words into the mouths of the mods - nor twist what has actually been said. I don’t know what sort of game you’re trying to play here, Frink - but enough is enough.

It means everything you said was obvious. Ric Olie = Captain Obvious.

I was just mentioning the connotation in my country. It was obvious it had nothing to do with yours.

So… like your other posts in here, it was nothing to do with footy then. Right.

Seems you have the quite the knack for taking threads off-topic / derailing them.

It was tangentially related for one thing, it’s not like it came out of nowhere and it’s not like I posted something completely unrelated to anything that was said here.

Also I thought this part of the forum was going to see some relaxed moderation after the other part was split off? Or not, I guess.

No, it wasn’t. In this thread alone you have made 7 recent posts and none of them has been about footy. You continue to take the thread off topic and derail it further.

You then post an unrelated link as if to try and hammer home some sort of ‘point’, and then bring up that this part of the forum was going to see some relaxed moderation after the other part was split-off… well that is the plan and that is what is happening… though that doesn’t mean members can go into threads and derail them and taking off topic in this section of the site, or any other for that matter.

This, and on top of your earlier admission today that you derailed a thread in the General Star Wars Discussion, I’m of the opinion you are willfully trolling, baiting and wumming.

I strongly suggest you give some serious thought to your posting style on here - and make some changes to it, as well as giving some consideration to the other members here and their threads that you’re actions have on. You’re very close to some time away from this site.

Now, back on topic…

In my opinion, these two threads should have been created right after TLJ was released, when it became evident how polarising it is. This might have shortened some of the drawn out, fruitless arguments.

This said, I like how polarising TLJ is. It turns the comparably safe TFA on its head and takes the ST in a new direction. I’m curious for the final chapter.

I’m feeling pessimistic about Episode IX due to Abrams returning, as he’s a very play-it-safe kinda guy. The only movies where he was involved that I actually enjoyed are Armaggedon (he was one of the scriptwriters IIRC) and the very first Cloverfield movie which he produced. Other than that I consider him to be the popcorn guy’s Paul Thomas Anderson, in that both make totally insipid movies yet both are praised by their respective audiences as genius visionaries. If Chris Terrio was the sole scriptwriter I’d be more optimistic, but I’m sure Abrams will botch it all up as co-writer after all as he, alongside Lawrence Kasdan, scrapped Michael Arndt’s original script for TFA and then both proceeded to a copy-paste job.

For me, JJ is strange choice to wrap the Sequel Trilogy up - in my mind he seems more suited to creative ideas and intriguing plots and devices to draw the viewer at the start of a project - rather than finishing one. Hopefully he’ll knock it out of the park - yet given where the current story is in the Trilogy - he has a lot to do and accomplish in the final film…

I agree, except he’s coming back around to a thing he already started. So he has a strong creative (and emotional) attachment to this story, and has surely been thinking a lot about it’s direction in the years since he left.

Nice point - plus, he also has seen the script for TLJ quite a while now (I think he complimented RJ on it, saying he wished he’d wrote/directed it? - a few months before release?) - so likely has ideas brewing away to continue and resolve aspects of TLJ for a good while now too…

I can’t wait for the official explanation. Id go so far as to say I officially think this the the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever seen the administration/moderation do in this increasingly joyless forum that (coincidentally I’m sure) gets even more joyless whenever the founder is around, but I’d hate to find myself also banned for daring to disagree. After all the thing calipso said and got banned for is much more respectful than what that would be if I said that.

Maybe have a word with the joyless people who derailed the thread?

The idea that my questioning the relevance of a thread makes me joyless is pretty silly.

You think you derailed the thread, then? I wasn’t referring to you - though if you consider yourself one of the people who did derail it, then okay.

Feel free to PM me if you’d like to continue the conversation.

C’mon the Redmen!

Most of us don’t use that term in the US anymore lol.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._John's_Red_Storm

Prior to the 1994–95 school year, the university’s nickname was the St. John’s Redmen, which referenced the red uniforms worn by its teams in competition. The name was interpreted as a Native American reference in the 1960s, and the university did have a mascot (adorned in Native American dress), which eventually led to the team’s name change to the Red Storm. The change happened at a time when there was mounting pressure on colleges and universities to adopt names more sensitive to Native American culture.

I don’t think Liverpool players are going to be no longer be referred to as Redmen (the colour of the kit they’ve worn for over 100 years) by their fans due to an interpretation in the US on an insensitive term referring to Native Americans used in a completely different context.

I don’t what that means - in the future it may be better to explain it in words instead of an image-only post? Thanks.

On a separate note that’s the season over - though the pre-World Cup friendlies start very soon - as well as the World Cup itself on the 14th June 😃

Respectful? As in Collipso continuing to show no respect to the OP, the previous mod requests in there, and derailing the thread further - when specifically asked not to, and being informed of what would happen if someone did?

Seems you’re trying to equate Jay’s posts (which you seemingly have a problem with) - with the running of the site. You’re right - doesn’t sound entirely fair or respectful at all.

Edit - the above was written before your last edit to your post. And your edit to your post in the TLJ appreciation thread.

Maybe have a word with the joyless people who derailed the thread? To the point where a Mod stepped in (again) and issued a warning that if it continued there would be post deletions and temp-bans - in a bid to try and get it back on course. And in the very next post…

And still some people in there are making snide comments.

Obviously a thread discussing the positive aspects of a Star Wars film is just too much for some.

There are a fair few quality Saga cover sets on here, though I do like Phildesfr’s Blu-Ray Complete Set, here:-

https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Phildesfrs-Blu-Ray-Complete-Set/id/56080

and also his Despecialized Covers sets, here:-

It may also be worth going through the Index thread to see which Saga sets you may like too.

Respect to Madrid - they were the better side overall, just - and what a goal from Bale. The depth of the Madrid squad really made a difference in this game (especially after a long hard season for both the clubs).

Unfortunately, the 2 other goals may haunt the Liverpool goalie (Karius) for a long time to come - I hope it doesn’t - though that’s a tough ask to come back from. Right now, as a fan, that hurts - though fair play to him to come to the fans at full-time to apologise and ask for forgiveness. That takes bottle.

I hope Salah’s injury isn’t as bad as first thought - and he recovers in time for World Cup.

As for Ramos - what a ****.

Ramos on Salah 25 mins (he knew what he was doing, dragging Salah’s arm to the ground like that and falling on it) - https://www.clippituser.tv/c/aqygap & https://www.clippituser.tv/c/vxgvzy & https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6keapf

Sergio Ramos laughing after injuring Mohamed Salah and watching Salah be subbed off injured - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOJl4_mq9fY

Ramos hitting Karius with elbow to face on 49 mins (ref not interested) - https://streamable.com/i60jl & https://twitter.com/68bor/status/1000484828662427648?s=21

Ramos feigns injury to try and get Man booked / sent off on 53 mins - https://twitter.com/JackTer11093393/status/1000501100905226241 & https://twitter.com/iamsk994/status/1000491047972163584 & https://twitter.com/FCBarcelonaHQ/status/1000468161119031297

For far too long he gets away with incidents like that.

For the last 23 years anyone has been able to get a divorce in Ireland.

Wow 23 years, they’re really on the leading edge of progressive culture! :p

In general they have come a long way in a short amount of time, including the removal of power that religion infringed upon everyday life there.

I think my point is that it will become a political discussion here on this forum, regardless of UK/Irish perspective.

I’ll leave it here, as it is more current affairs/news than politics - though feel free to post the links in the politics thread to kickstart a conversation on it there.

We don’t need a TLJ appreciation thread - we just have a TLJ appreciation thread.

We don’t need several new new thread threads or 5th, 6th, 13th day of Christmas threads or whatever it was late last year - though we had them.

For a Star Wars film that polarisied so many amongst it’s fan base - and given some of the oft-repeated negative posts in the TLJ opinion thread that seemingly took centre-stage over the more positive or neutral viewpoints or aspects - it doesn’t seem a bad idea to have one… and see how it goes.

There may be a few posts that give some people pause for thought or re-think their viewpoint on certain scenes or parts of the film - who knows? Maybe some people would just like to talk about certain scenes they enjoyed without someone piling in with negativity… let’s give it a chance.

That Guardian link is borderline unreadable. I clicked it first and had to give up and click the bbc link to see what actually happened.

Good for Ireland, welcome to civilization.

Shouldn’t this go in politics though?

The Guardian link is more a live timeline - with links to the more traditional format of news stories on the right, with links to breaking events on the left.

Maybe it could go in the Politics thread - though from a UK/Irish perspective I’d say this is more news than politics.

For far, far too long many from Ireland have had to resort to come to mainland Britain to be able to receive an abortion - often young women scared, alone, with no emotional support - sometimes without the knowledge of their families and even friends, scraping enough together money for the travel etc.

The whole situation was ridiculous and cruel.

Well in to the people of the Republic of Ireland - and those who made this referendum happen.

Hopefully Northern Ireland will soon follow suit…
