Proof of Lucas’ revisionism in Rinzler’s making-of book?
Time

Biggs Audio Dynamite said:

Is there a bullet point post or thread on here with all the inconsistencies or myths from George Lucas or Lucasfilm revisionism?

Winter Is Coming…

Sorry, I was thinking of something else, there.

A post is coming…

It may not be a very good post - though it will attempt to be an introductory source of info… compiling and highlighting some of the contradictions / revisionism over the years from George - and feature a few events of retcon-free Star Wars history too. As well as also pointing to some useful and more in-depth sources as well. Hopefully it’ll be posted on here sometime middle of next week.

Edit: Here is the post - George Lucas: Star Wars Creator, Unreliable Narrator & Time Travelling Revisionist…

x

^ It is a start, at least, with some 25 bullet-points - and will hopefully grow with the input & knowledge of this community, as well as contributions, topics and info previously discussed on here over the years for inclusion too. Or maybe it will just sink without a trace…?

Posts and threads like this one on the OT•com - My take (long) - from 2005 by my old wise friend - and many other similar posts and discussions by countless others on here over the years who were there at the start of this all… the original film, then sequel, then becoming a Trilogy in 1983… finally motivated me to do something like the above ‘compilation’ project thread.

And it is also for those of us who have lived through the actual history of it all - Lucas’ original story - before the later conflicting claims, retcons, disingenuous statements, re-writing of history in an attempt… to give some sort of illusion there was an overall ‘grand master plan’ or ‘it was always about Vader’… so much so it is almost unrecognisable from the factual history of Star Wars. As well as being for newer or younger fans on here who only know of this new official revisionist history by George & Lucasfilm.

Edit: from the Category No. 36. Midichlorians and The Force… (and a 30 year retcon by George Lucas) post…

On midi-chlorians…

It is also worth noting that some 30 years later… George Lucas retconned the term ‘Midichlorians’ into JW Rinzler’s 2007 ‘Making Of Star Wars’ book (page 353) - changing the words and quote he himself had used back in 1977, when explaining some notions regarding ‘the Force’…

The original quote from Lucas’ 1977 interview with Carol Titelman (author of ‘The Art of Star Wars’) is:-

”It is said that certain creatures are born with a higher awareness of the Force than humans. Their brains are different. The Force is a perception of the reality that exists around us.”

^ a screenshot of the original 1977 quote - from So what the heck are Midichlorians? - 2013 article at the official Star Wars website:-

The retconned quote - amended by George Lucas - and now appearing in JW Rinzler’s 2007 ‘Making Of Star Wars’ book is:-

”It is said certain creatures are born with a higher awareness of the Force than humans. Their brains are different; they have more midi-chlorians in their cells. The Force is a perception of the reality that exists around us.”

^ a screenshot from Page 353 of the 2007 book - with George Lucas’ newly altered quote… to now include mention of ‘midi-chlorians’:-

When fans noticed + questioned this retcon… author JW Rinzler later admitted Lucas had changed the original quote, here:-

‘[Please note: While we were preparing the text for The Making of Star Wars, Lucas added a note to this passage about midi-chlorians, bringing his original words in line with his later thoughts and the events of the prequel trilogy.]’

^ a screenshot from the So what the heck are Midichlorians? - a 2013 article at the official Star Wars website:-

HelloGreedo also did a decent take on the situation of George doing some time-travelling retconning - as well as posing the very pertinent question: "If this [quote] was changed to fit a narrative, then what else was changed? I mean, maybe nothing, maybe this is the only instance, but when one thing is a proven fabrication… in a book that is kind of a historical look at the making of something… you know I can’t help but wonder if anything else was altered?"

What’s the deal with Midi-chlorians?’ a 13 minute from the HelloGreedo youtube channel…

www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFgIP5n_Pu4

The blurb: ‘When midi-chlorians first popped up in Star Wars, it became one of many things that divided the fandom. When Qui-Gon mentioned them in Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace, the Force seemed to change forever. Let’s talk about midi-chlorians; their history in and out of universe, and I’ll give my thoughts on those little microscopic force-communicators.’

There were some ponderings for an OriginalTrilogy.com’s own documentary? - though they were a good 10 years ago, now…

Many of us may remember this from George - apparently a joke - along with the old saying: ‘Many a true word is spoken in jest’…

^ from the ‘George Lucas’ Letter to LOST’ producers on the success of the ‘Lost’ TV series - a 2010 article at Collider. 😃

A brief ‘info post’ covering just a few of George’s gaslighting and divisive comments made to / about fans over the years

^ Hopefully someone here will create a whole separate thread dedicated to George’s many gaslighting and divisive comments to fans.

Nice one 😃

This may be of interest for fans of some of the old school vinyl and cassette music releases:-

The Music Of Star Wars’ website - www.restrainingbolt.com/sw/starwarsmusic.html

www.restrainingbolt.com/sw/misc/sw_music.php?format=cassettes (also albums, 45’s, 8-tracks, misc, and advert sections)

I haven’t had a chance to go through the rest of the Restraining Bolt website yet - though seems there may be some intriguing stuff on there, especially in the Music, Collection, Prop tutorials and Photo Gallery sections…

Rian Johnson to Head New Star Wars Trilogy
Time

Not really significant news, though likely a welcome one if you’re looking forward to the new Trilogy…

‘Something else for #StarWars fans, @rianjohnson said on the #CinemaCon stage he was going back to a galaxy far far away after ‘Knives Out’.’…

^ from https://twitter.com/colliderfrosty/status/1113929484934062081?s=19 - from Steven Weintraub, editor at Collider

‘.@rianjohnson is just as excited for J.J. Abram’s #StarWars Episode IX as we are, and he tells us at #CinemaCon he hopes that the directors keep taking the universe to new heights: “I want him to do stuff that I wasn’t expecting him to do”’…

Star Wars <strong>Fan Films</strong> / Shorts - a general discussion thread

Would brickfilms be considered for this thread? Brickfilms, if anyone doesn’t know, are stop-motion Lego videos. There are millions of brickfilms found on YouTube.

If they are Star Wars themed or based go for it, mate 😃

If not, I think there is are couple of good Lego threads in the Media section of the site; this one amongst them The Official LEGO Discussion & Review Thread

Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * <strong><em>SPOILER THREAD</em></strong> *
Time

Dre - Not to speak for Biggs Audio Dynamite here, though I think she was stating you may get a wider, indepth and more meaningful (and maybe higher quality?) discussion on the issues like ‘Disney remake strategy’, either ‘in general, or for the ST?’, and other subjects mentioned in their own respective threads?

There’s a good chance of more people would likely know where to find them on the site, at least.

(bloody hell, Dre - you edit your posts quicker than me - impressive… 😉)

Edit: It doesn’t seem it is so much about positive or negative reviews or statements - or not liking to read critical posts, or be in an echo chamber - it’s the repetitiveness of them she was referring to? (ie, She ‘see start of posts saying like ‘for all the good things’ but people don’t then say what those things are. The same for those who post ‘for all the bad things’, and then mention focus or mention on the good. It comes across as empty lip service, to me anyway’.

Though you may be better asking that of BAD.

From the Desk of Charles Lippincott…

“The ‘secret weapon’ behind Star Wars”

^ I think this has been posted on here before - though I can’t find it right now. And besides, it’s an article worthy repeating.

It’s also a great insightful blog too - from one of the unsung contributors (now almost erased from the official history) who helped the make the Star Wars universe what it was.

What about yourself, paja?

I’ve been drinking Diplomat: lemon & ginger and Japanese jasmine tea ![]

The missus loves lemon and ginger tea as well - you people with acquired tastes 😃

I do drink the occasional ‘yerba mate’ - a bit like bitter green tea (so I’m told) - and meant to be quite a bit healthier than the usual tea or coffee; fair few nutrients in there and tastes pretty good (if you like bitter drinks).

Seems to be quite popular with athletes and people wishing to lose a bit of weight too, along with those wishing to boost immune systems (though I’ve no idea if it works - or how well it does work).
