STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

This is something small, possibly unnoticed by most, but in the original shot of the canyon the way that the explosion was composited (poorly) made it appear to shake, even though the rest of the image around it was not shaking. This always gave the shot a sense of shakiness FROM the explosion, even if that is not what is actually occurring in the shot. Seeing Ady's new shot kinda made me miss the shakiness, if that makes sense.

Other than that, it looks awesome. I can't tell from my computer monitor, but was there any grain added to blend it with the film of the original footage on either side?

Have you seen the fanedit Spider-Man: Hero Within? It tries to simplify the migranes of the Spidey trilogy and uses the second film as the primary narrative, and it manages to avoid using Norman Osborn entirely.

Sounds interesting. Where would I find it?

I've debated on letting my fanedit of the trilogy go public, but I don't know.

I imagine a Margot Kidder scream from the same time period would sound sort of right (better than Ian McDiarmid sounding like Mark Hamill in ESB:SE97).

I believe those names should be reversed. I'm sure it was the other way around.

Leia screams at the mynock in ESB. Maybe some slight manipulation could change it enough to not sound exactly the same? Just a thought.

I hate to be THAT guy, but to point out a line cross, shouldn't the platform at the bottom of the frame be moving toward the right, rather than the left, considering that in the previous shot we see the Stormtroopers coming out onto the platform from right to left?

Not the biggest deal, and as you can see in the original shot, the platform error was always there and no one ever said anything before and just enjoyed the movie.

Just thought I'd point it out.

I did a fanedit (never released) that used Spider-Man 2 as the foundation, with part 1 used as flashbacks to flesh out Harry's reason for hating Spider-Man, and his relationship to Norman Osborn. Parts of Spider-Man 3 were used to finish the story of Peter/Harry without having to watch the rest of part 3 (Venom/Sandman/Gwen stuff).

As for JUST Spider-Man? Maybe just toning down the campiness, but not losing the story? Not sure, it's something I'd have to think about.

Back to ESB:R and still about Yoda, what is the plan for the special edition "ERRR" sound that Yoda makes just as Luke aims his gun at him? I'm sure Yoda knew he wouldn't shoot, but for his "goofy character" acting, I think it adds that much more to his goofiness (in a good way) and it makes me grin each time I hear it :) Im wondering if that may be kept?

...

I don't think that's an SE change. At least, not that I'm aware of. He seems to make the same sound I've always heard.

Growing up, I always seen the version where he only pulled his hand over his face to hide, but didn't make a sound. When the SE was first released, it was suddenly there. Personally, I like it with the sound.

It has to be a SE addition. I grew up with the pre-special edition VHS and it wasn't in there, but it has been ever since the SE. Anyway, I like it too :)

In Harmy's de-specialized ESB, it is removed, if I remember right. It's really one of the rare SE changes I have a hard time coming back from!

Definitely a difference. Looks good. Still surprises me that FOTR is the only film that had this issue.

Hopefully one of the FX savvy guys is reading this and is prepared to mask out the the droid for the few shots you can't just edit him out of.

The next trick would be to create a new shot of Vader and maybe add the Force rumble effect.

Does Carrie scream in fear ever?

She lets out a cry of pain in ROTJ but it's not blood curdling (think Ripley in Aliens when the Alien Queen pulls the power-loader down the hatch to the airlock).

If the the door shut on Leia's cell and we heard a blood curdling scream it would really make Vader look much more nasty.

She screams in fear at the mynock in ESB. Maybe some tweaking could be done to make it sound longer or different? I don't know.

This is how I feel after this debate over window frames:

MST3K "Mitchell": Servo Loses It

Guys?! Can't we PLEASE just wait until Ady announces he is done? There is no need for this back-and-forth over what is absolutely nothing.

KingKong650: I love you man... I really do (in a platonic way). You have a ton of talent, and I love your color corrected releases over on TehParadox. If you don't like the window framing, then when Ady releases his edit, use it as a template to make a version that crops the window frame. Better to have MORE information you can ply away than have a cropped image you are stuck with.

Adywan: I love you too.. but you CAN have an ego.. such as going back and forth over a window frame when all you ever had to do was just say "this is what I'm doing, because I like the way it looks. End of debate." There is no need to give yourself an ulcer over a window frame.

Now to keep this pertinent to the thread, I personally like the opened shot. Not to mention, it is always better to have access to more visual information, as there is nothing stopping anyone from creating a tweaked edit with a more cropped cockpit shot.

I like the way you worded this. I can dig it.

Everyone's mind will be blown when kk650 reveals himself to be...

GEORGE LUCAS!

All kidding aside, I can see both sides of the discussion having merit. The only cropped shot that absolutely makes 100% to me in existing at all, would be the shot on Bespin, with the Cloud Cars flying outside the window of the Falcon. It DOES make the focus of that shot more on the Cloud Car than on the Falcon's passengers, which makes sense to me. Other than that, I could go cropped or uncropped, and will still be grateful when ESB:R is finally released!

^^ Same here. I recall it was mentioned that ROTJR will be altered more than ANHR & ESBR. So I'm VERY curious about Ady's plans for the Jabba sequence and cannot wait for the eventual thread where we can all discuss it and offer ideas.

Please Please PLEASE let something be done about the Ewoks!! Suspension of disbelief can only go so far, and teddy bears defeating professional soldiers in armor always kicked me right out of the movie.

Hopefully we'll get a sneak peek at the hanger shots as they come together... Can't wait to see what's changed.

Not that I expect Ady to manage anything on this level, but I always thought it'd be more elegant if the entire forest was fighting the Empire having been disturbed by the battle eg. Stormtroopers chase Ewoks into a clearing, who disappear into the bushes, then a giant plant monster grabs and eats the Stormtroopers. You could even use CG to have monsters/living vines pulling DOWN the AT-ST instead of the daft tripping on logs bit that happens in the original.

The forest, apart from the noises, always did seem a bit devoid of life.

Basically, the ending from Avatar, Ewok Edition.

I'd be happy with just some Rebel troops added into the battle, with the Ewoks downplayed, and add in some of the deleted footage of Han Solo's team fighting their way into the base to set the explosives.

Back on topic: Has Ady or anyone else put together a blu ray cover yet? I'm pumped to get it ready for ESB:R's release!

I had forgotten about the AT-AT mockup. I really hope Ady has added that change as well.

Someone did a mockup once, using Ian McDiarmid's voice saying "Luke" from the bonus DVD A Musical Journey, from the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack. It needed to be tweaked to match better, but other than that it sounded good. I don't know if that's still in the cards, as Ady has stated before that audio is the last step, and he isn't there yet.

I don't recall this being brought up, and I do not know if Ady has already filmed the new canyon shot, but would it make sense to add a slight glow to the walls from the Millennium Falcon's blue boosters?

The only reason I ask is because I thought it actually was a cool effect to have in Attack of the Clones when Jango and Obi Wan were flying through that hole in the asteroid and their ships had lit up the area around them. Though it could be argued that since they were INSIDE an asteroid at that moment, that there would be complete darkness which helped the lighting be more visible, but the canyon in ESB is rather deep as well, so the same logic could apply. I was thinking since the shot is being recreated, perhaps it could enhance the new version a bit further.

Thoughts?
