Ady, can you give any details about this other project? Is it a Star Wars fan film?

Alas, Ady can't even tell the team what project it is. Very hush hush for some reason.

Most likely the filmmakers simply wish to handle promotion themselves, and have made it clear to the crew that it's not their job to talk about the project. It's not uncommon.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone [Revisited] (Released)
Time

Checked out the vimeo clips and found them to look great! Definitely seeing a difference in the color tones, and it does feel like they would match better with the later installments. I'd love to see screencap comparisons to the original sources, if possible (and ONLY if it does not slow down the release of these in any way!)

So, is November 11th supposed to be the estimated release of these? I usually have a Harry Potter marathon around this time of year, so if these are coming that soon, I'm definitely holding off for them!

ANH:R - Stronger Vader edit: *** Released ***
Time

So I've finally had the chance to sit down and watch the finished version. I definitely like what has been done with this edit, in regards more to the changes with Tarkin, more-so than with Vader.

To put this in context, I watched ESB over and over as a kid, LONG before I ever got a chance to see ANH for the first time. So, to me, the Darth Vader as seen in ESB was how I knew the character. Darth Vader was intimidating, scary, and absolutely in charge of everything, with the Emperor being the only exception. All in all, the ultimate badass villain.

So imagine my shock, seeing Darth Vader taking orders from a guy dressed similar to the ones he would force choke over failure. To my childish mind, it made NO SENSE at all! Over time I grew to accept it, but I will always remember that first impression on ANH when I viewed it.

Even with fanedits such as DE's, and later Ady's, it still somehow never occurred to me that Vader could possibly be made to match, in character, to his portrayal in ESB. So when this project was first announced here, I was excited to see the result.

So, with all that being said, I do like this edit as an alternate way to view ANH (as if I didn't have enough options already). Vader seems more like he is overlooking Tarkin's command, perhaps on orders from Emperor Palpatine, rather than being there to take Tarkin's orders. To me, this DOES match up with ESB more.

Other changes, such as slowing down Vader's movements and speech, aren't as noticeable, but they are there. The subtlety of these changes makes them easy to accept, but if they weren't added into the edit, I wouldn't have minded it either.

Other changes to quicken the pace are well done, and I don't notice them really at all while viewing.

Now here's one issue I have with the edit, and it's more of a technical thing, rather than a creative one. It has been noted that during the process of taking ANH:R from DVD to video files for editing, that the fps has been changed from 23.28 to 29.97, and it does show. The most that I noticed the issue was during the title reveal, as it makes it appear that the STAR WARS title is slightly stuttering as it pulls away from the camera. It's noticeable if you look for it. As time went on, I had forgotten about it and got absorbed into the movie, but that doesn't mean it isn't still there.

Then again, when using a fanedit as your source, you risk the chance of losing video quality in the conversion process. Since ANH:R was so well done for an SD fanedit, that helps in the VQ department, regardless.

Audio-wise, since it is converted to stereo, I feel it is a downgrade from Ady's excellent 5.1 mix. I missed that when viewing the film, since I prefer to watch with my surround system. Still, as a stereo track, it had no errors, and I had no problems understanding the dialogue or having to change the volume during action scenes.

All in all, this is a great edit, despite it's technical faults. I would recomment at least a one-time viewing, to see if you like it. It will not be replacing my copy of ANH:R, but it will exist alongside it in my collection.

I'm not sure I understand how it fits there.

It would be funny to hear the song starting up as the helmet is powered up and lowered on his head, (use that tinny AM radio effect?) implying he's going to be hearing it the rest of his days.

"You've got mail!" coming out of the helmet as it is lowering down, maybe? With an envelope symbol popping up in the red eye windows.

Episode VI: Return of the Ridiculousness
Time

Okay, so I've had this idea in my head a while, but never got around to mentioning it.

Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't seen Donnie Darko...

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

So, in the Donnie Darko film ending, Donnie, the main character, went through time one month to the beginning of the storyline, then died, which obviously changed everything. The twist I liked, however, was that a lot of the side characters retained their memories of what happened in the alternate timeline.

I think there is potential to copy this for RotR, in which Anakin wakes up again, following the shot of Anakin's ghost appearing beside ghost Obi Wan and ghost Yoda. The past few decades or so had not yet come to pass! But everyone now knows what will happen! To make it easier to include more characters, perhaps it could be Anakin waking up in Episode II, so that Dooku could be among the characters remembering what went down.

The Jedi, Palpatine and Dooku, Padme, Jar Jar, Ric Olie's ghost, and anyone else of importance could have silent moments of awkward revelation in a montage not unlike the one seen in Donnie Darko, as seen here:

http://youtu.be/2PUFJmsCZLE

Then it could cut to an awkward scene where the Jedi and Palpatine are at a meeting (as seen in Episode II), and both sides know everything about the secret of the Sith and the upcoming war.

It's a long winded idea, and could be arranged in any number of ways, but if done right, could be a fun way to come full circle back into the prequel era of the Ridiculousness saga.

Will it be implied that his turn to the dark side is because he doesn't care anymore and figures he'll just wake up the same way again, only to find he's broken out of the time loop?

I have an idea that it should happen again in Return of the Ridiculousness, but the idea is a bit too much to explain without technically going off topic in this thread. I'll post the idea there shortly.

I don't think it's perfect, but I do think it might be too episodic to turn it into feature-length stories. The post-Winter Soldier arc would probably be the easiest.

This is my thought as well. The whole Hydra arc could make for a great self-contained film, though some of the build-up from the first half of the season would be missing (why Coulson is alive, WHO is his team now? Etc.)

Joke aside, sometimes I dread posting here. I say "can't wait to see TESB:R" and I fear people would pile on top to say I'm being pushy. Call me crazy but... :)

You're not crazy. I've felt this way now and then, just based on some of the responses that fly around here, or even the "tone" behind the way certain people tend to respond. I just try to keep it friendly as possible and be sure that anything I post is worded as carefully as possible to not accidently set fire under anyone's seat. :-)

That being said, I can't wait to see ESB:R! :-P

This is an idea I've had for a long time, but it ended up much more difficult than I was expecting...and thus I'm not 100% sure it works.   But I'll let y'all be the judge.

First impression: I get what you're going for, but it feels like it could go further, with a better song. Unfortunately I don't have any ideas for one off the top of my head.

Can you be more specific about how it could go further?  The song is the whole point of that bit, so the song choice is the one thing I'm not unsure about.  I can think of multiple issues with the implementation, however, so what is it that bothers you?

I'm not sure. Maybe it just feels like it could be even funnier with a different song choice, but definitely with the same type of topic. If there was something that sounded like it didn't fit the tone even less, yet with the same topic, it might be better.

I'm a bit frustrated in trying to figure out how to pinpoint what I'm thinking, but I'll get back to you if it hits me....

Let me know if you come up with another song with Ani in it that works better. :p

At any rate, I think the biggest problem I'm having with it is that I've really had to chop up the song to fit the limited amount of footage I have, and it's kind of displeasing to the ear.  One thought I had was to make the sequence a bit longer by alternating between shots of him brooding and shots of him doing his murder thing, which would allow a little better flow to the song.

Maybe make the murder shots in slow motion, with dissolves between those and the shots of him brooding?

Another song idea I had a while back, but never mentioned, was this one:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xkp0je_nine-inch-nails-hurt-with-lyrics_music

The verse at around 1:30-ish is what I heard.

Not sure if it would go with this scene in particular, but I thought it would go with Anakin at some point. Though it's so depressing I worry that the humor may not work. BUT... the word "empire" is in the lyrics, so....

Yeah, too depressing for my taste...I'd be tempted to use the Johnny Cash cover instead if I were to go that route.

I like the Johnny Cash version as well. It could always go in other spots during the final act, when the Empire takes the place of the Republic.

You won't find one. There hasn't been an update in weeks. But I'm sure Ady is hard at work trying to push this out the door.

*waits for someone to be called entitled*

That was my assumption. Lack of updates = Ady's busy wrapping things up.

I'm only entitled to my patience.

Will there ever be a Despecialized Edition of Phantom Meance and Attack of the Clones because the theatrical cuts for those are only on VHS and (Episode 1) laserdisc (japan) and Revenge of the Sith has the theatrical cut on bluray.

This may be partly redundant, as Adywan has already made a theatrical cut of The Phantom Menace. As for Attack of the Clones, I'm not aware if anyone has done that yet.

Dawn Of The Dead Ultimate Edition Volume 2-UPDATE Discs 1-4 (Released)

Can't believe I never heard of this before, but apparently it isn't new. Definitely looking forward to checking it out soon.

Dawn of the Dead is among my favorite films of all time. I even made my own fanedit of it, using the theatrical cut, but adding in some scenes from the extended and European cut, and also with some errors fixed. Yeah, I'd say I'm a big fan!
