I'm all for it, if it should be broken out into a separate category/thread so be it.  (maybe a one frame incidental type category - V7) The idea for the spreadsheet is to have all these little doo dads which other people have gone out of their way to fix, notated somewhere, so the next round of fixers will know what to look for.  As everything Editous, Adywan, Harmy, DJ and etc. are doing/did will need to be redone, on the film scans forthcoming.

back to ESB:

In 2004, the Snowspeeder cockpit frame was recompositioned.  The snowspeeder leans attempt to reflect the changing background.

This next group falls into the significant recoloring of 2004.  The Bacta tank is well just too cyan for me to not consider this a deliberate recoloring/change.

Extra set of Star Destroyer engines removed in 2004.  (as recently posted)

^ they're in GOUT and the ESB 80 boot.  (when it's in the last shot it's the bottom of frame if it's the first shot it's the top o'frame)  here's an example: (glue or Luke's really sweaty)

an example of top glue frame is the establishing shot when Luke's leaving Hoth, the shot with the Rebel Cruiser.   dark_jedi mentioned cleaning a bunch up, need to ask him if he's got any remembrances of which frames they were.

Had found some DVNR stuff, should have cappd them, there's a good one of Vader, who ends up silhouetted in the next shot.

More ESB stuff:

In 2004, Probe Droid Pod arrives one frame early.

Add to description:

In 1997, the Probe droid animation starts one frame later.

There are many shots which have significant glue stains.  Notated some of them in the shot spreadsheet but didn't do an overall review for them.  But they seem to have been universally addressed in 1997.

In 1997, clean up of film glue occurred. (Exit)  In 2004, Ben's ghost fade in starts a frame or two later.

In 1997, Han on Tauntaun was recomposited.  Han arrives a frame earlier and later in the shot the Tauntaun's feet are less snow covered.

This next one i'm not 100% sure, but it looks like there is falling snow in 2004.  You can see some flakes in the pic over the hind quarters.

In 1997, clean up of film glue occurred. (Exit)  In 2004, falling snow was added.

This to me seems like a specific recoloring job.  Luke's face is an unnatural color as I think they were attempting to mimic frostbite and the wampa hits to the face. but that purple is something which couldn't have been achieved without make up, but is not apparent in past versions.  Here's the 80 boot, 97se, and GOUT and 2004:

In 2004, Luke's face was recolored to show frostbite and impact from Wampa attack.

^ The timing of Han (carbonite), Imperial Officer and Boba Fett is also shifted a frame or two.  Easier to see when they enter Slave-1.

All the changes i've identified are in the shot spreadsheet.  The screen captures are made (except for the Luke/Vader duel).  Need to go through the cropping and renaming process and upp'ng them to the Visual Guide.  Started yesterday, but it's a slow process and after a few phuck ups, I decided to wait until a clearer mind could prevail.  And for whatever reason, the one's i've posted show up in the middle.

Where on the globe are you?  Maybe it's a US region block.  To download a copy you can use sites like http://keep-tube.com/  and if you're game, you can load all comments then save the page (think it does a couple hundred comments per page, so maybe 5-10 pages total) to preserve it in some fashion.  I'd take a copy of that.  (saved the SW crawl, ESB and RotJ comments, if you'd like them.)

This is very good.  One of the fair use/dealing copyright exemptions is news reportage.  Find that link and send it to the reporter, might be able to make a story out of it.  And if you wish to fight the take down, mentioning this fact could make the FOX counter irrelevant.

Are you able to still modify the video, for instance can you make the comment return?  Or does the take down also take down comments....  The comments in that video really showed off the fandom split, shame these stupid phucking asshole corporations would want to take that information out of the public sphere.  short sighted idiots.  yeah it might not be anything important in the grand scheme, but it's a sign that too much is under their control and out of the publics.  /rant

about 1,300 places linked to the video.

This maybe part of a larger enforcement.  I had been keeping track of full versions of any of the movies found on public video hosting sites (http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Movie-Full-Active/post/469897/#TopicPost469897) and many of them are now gone.

That doesn't explain how 'Han shot first' got picked up in the mix.  But it is a sign they are clamping down post BD / pre 3D.

Back in 1996 or so, when Lucasfilm had a run of website take downs, those website grouped together by adding the 'Star of Alderaan' emblem to their websites.  Might be time to revive that idea.

*EDIT*

Problem is this is coming from FOX, would like to hear more about what other things have disappeared.

here's a list of some of the past SW related take downs:

According to Lucasfilm Representative Steve Sansweet Quote: "Other studios filing cease and desist orders, going after the fans, this isn't what Lucasfilm was about." (quote via: http://www.digitalcity.com/2009/07/28/comic-con-steve-sansweet-on-star-wars-fandom/)

Here is a random selection from teh Lucasfilm Cease and Desists archives.

http://nuar.lunarpages.com/
Quote: "Notice: As of 4/25/05 Lucasfilm Ltd. has requested that all potentially copyrighted materials and links be removed from this site."

http://www.seattlepi.com/theater/192350_lucasfilm.html
Quote: "Jet City, which is part of Wing-It Productions, has been screening old movies and redubbing them live for about seven years. The cease-and-desist letter they received from Lucasfilm Ltd. on Sept. 15 was their first."

http://www.comicsreporter.com/index.php/missed_it_lucasfilm_ltd_sends_cease_and_desist_to_diesel_sweeties_creator/
Quote: "It looks like the issue that drew LucasFilm Ltd's attention to Diesel Sweeties creator Rich Stevens is a selection of t-shirts by Stevens that LucasFilm believes reference trademarked Star Wars material, albeit in a slightly obtuse way in some cases."

http://news.cnet.com/Lucasfilm-fights-for-the-rights-to-Tatooine.com/2100-1023_3-235678.html
Quote: "Lucasfilm today confirmed it is trying to gain ownership of the domain name from Mount. "This is not at all unusual We send many cease-and-desist letters to people using domain names that are our registered trademark properties," company spokeswoman Jeanne Cole said. "We vigorously protect our trademarks.""

http://www.echostation.com/features/lfl_wookiee.htm
Quote: "The stories abound across the net, and fear strikes all of us -- another webmaster receives a Cease and Desist (C&D) letter from LucasFilm's (or an affiliated company's) corporate attorneys to pull graphics or a storyline featured on his site."

http://www.ice.gov/pi/news/newsreleases/articles/starwars052505.htm
Quote: "This morning, agents of the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) executed 10 search warrants across the United States against leading members of a technologically sophisticated P2P network - the final entry in the Star Wars series, "Episode III -Revenge of the Sith," was available for downloading"

http://fancinematoday.com/2008/10/01/who-killed-star-wars-the-dark-redemption/
Quote: "The fall-out of Lucasfilm's C&D on the fan film would play out for a few years, although now the company sponsors the annual fan film competition beloved by many fan film fans. Still, it's fair to wonder how popular TDR could have become had it not been stalled by Lucas' lawyers. Would it have reached Troops-level icon status?"

But there are also examples of Lucasfilm attempting to key into internet alternatives, like this Obama/Star Wars Luke 'A New Hope' t-shirt design:

What is the link to the video?  is it actually down or are they making you aware that it may go down.

*EDIT*

Is this it? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1YbFnkZwZk

If that is it, then they are selectively targeting that video.  as you're other SW related are still active.  This smells shitty.   The EFF.org's http://www.chillingeffects.org/ has a submittal form to log this complaint into a larger database.  They also have tips on how to fight the take down and get the video returned.

*/EDIT*

If you want to be a pest, mention in the comments that the video has been tagged and your reaction.  Then suggest that if people want the video to remain online they should re-upload a copy to Any service and post the link into the comments.  If even 1-2 people every month repost it somewhere... anyway that's the pest response.

I'm working my way thru ESB at the moment, up to the Luke/Vader duel.  The first two shots look like 2004 changes to me, curious why none of the duel lightsabers are in the Comparison guide.  Was a conclusion drawn about them or no one's gotten to it yet?

There's turning out to be a higher percentage of shots affected for ESB then SW.  But almost 95% are minor (V1) things.

Volume I contains 171 studio-mimeo pages plus a Xerox (from the time) instruction concerning difference between 70mm and 35mm versions; volume II contains 215 pages. Director George Lucas maintained absolute secrecy and control over every aspect of his productions, so original production material of this sort is especially rare for his films.

A. We're the toys AFA 95?

B. I heard, keep in mind this is a rumor, but that his mom was a Sith Lord who had gotten the daughter-in-law to convert to the Dark Side, so this 'killing' was really the son's test, which he's failed (wahh wahh wahhhh) BUT daddio did go to his son who after watching the movies said that everything his daddy did was inline with the story so it's ok.  all forgiven.  dads a hero.  Pyre at 11.  (daddy needs time to make a uniform using the destroyed plastic toys)
