Not at the moment, just a.b.sw. Missed it when it happened but several of these projects were uploaded to the spleen. (thanks AvP/Tomo) Was going to bring it up when more surfaced there. Thanks for the interest, was hopeing I could just keep my attentions on disc production, but if enough people would like to see these can shift focus to deal with that, in time.

NOVA ran a modified version of the doc. The above link is an interview with the producer. The official PBS store used to sell copies.

About a third (most of the Star Wars related material) was previewed at a convention back in 96.. A preservation of that is available on TWC301:

This September (2012) will be the 20th Anniversary of the launch of the Sci-Fi Channel. The first decade of the channel will be forever linked with the Star Wars movies, as Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams hosted the first back-to-back-to-back broadcasts and the premiere of the widescreen letterboxed on broadcast television. This disc collects those moments along with other memories like news of the last remaining film print restoration.

I see he's following the 1 second rule with all his screen caps...

One way to use identifying material is to do a massive collage, as if you're work space floor had all your research laying about. or like in police dramas where they post pics and make connections. If all the identifying stuff is three quarters unseen, will the really get that excited. The books already had one round of publishing. If they did go after you with this second pressing, well they can come up with any reason even if they could have used the logic before. In the world of audio art, several albums have been squashed due to cover art, when the real problem was the perception of the audio collage. So it's been done before, make something which will draw attention, get the work squelched, then a third party makes a killing on ebay.

I guess i'm unclear on these ads. Are you looking to put ads into the google system, which show up on other people's websites? You've already got links from your site to the publishers store. You're very much in the unauthorized biography category, and there's plenty of precedent to back up your venture. How do unauthorized bio's get their cover person onto the books cover?

The Bonus disc of the 2006 DVD release is a version of Star Wars, pre-ANH. Around these parts it's referred to as GOUT. (George's Original Unaltered Trilogy) They can be purchased from ebay or maybe some other online outfits like amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Two-Disc-Widescreen-Theatrical/dp/B000FQJAIW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341003919&sr=8-1&keywords=star+wars+2006

Otherwise LaserDisc is still, to som,e a viable format, but those will all be used, but still will be less tinkered with.

After that is fan created preservations. Please read:

May want to remove this line as there are multiple blogs from around when the script leaked which did mention it.

If you want a line like this you could point out that wookieepedia has no Nellith entry: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/index.php?search=nellith&fulltext=Search

typo:

The idea was that Luke's father had twin children and took one of them an an uncle and the second one to the other side of the universe so that if one was killed, another would survive.

I know one guy who runs a Youtube channel featuring SW related things and he bought a house with the revenue.

What channel is that?

My guess with websites and advertising is they put them up first. Doubt LFL questions many fan sites, too many not enough time. I agree with msycamore that without ads gives the air of the website's purpose being a scholarly exploit. But you gotta do what you gotta do. The overall design has a column which most sites would fill with money making opportunities. For example:

Comparing advertising schemes: http://starwarz.com/starkiller/

Yes there are a few articles but for the most part the site is just publishing the scripts, and they've got ads. They're not supper intrusive, as they're buried below the fold, under site navigation.

You really should take the Disney initiative and promote your relabeling scheme:

"Dr. Gonzo's George Lucas's Star Wars"

"Catnap's George Lucas's Star Wars"

"TR47's George Lucas's Star Wars"

"George Lucas's George Lucas's Original Unaltered Trilogy"

"dark_jedi's George Lucas's George Lucas's Original Unaltered Trilogy Star Wars"

"Harmy's George Lucas's DeSpecialized Star Wars"

"George Lucas's Star Wars Legacy Version"

"George Lucas's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords"

"George Lucas's Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope 3D Special Edition Super Spectacular"

Then everybody calls you a terrible person for it.

The reviews will be less harsh with the new artists rights title plan, as the product name will reach the article's word quota.

Any truth to the rumor that you are going to official change your name to George Star Walton Wars Lucas? Which means:

"Dr. Gonzo's George Star Walton Wars Lucas's Star Wars"

excited, you know you are.

big fan, big fan.

George Lucas leaves Lucasfilm

As more tvs ship with 3D capability, eventually a network will want 3D content and guess what franchise is ready to step in to fill the void. The Clone Wars cartoon in 3D is probably an easy jump for LFL to do as well. Box Office numbers are a dwindling portion of LFLs profits:

Perhaps some of the early concept artwork isn't owned by Lucas.

I've got one of the RMQ D&V books and the cover page has a list of copyright clauses. Each SW movie has their own which are 'All rights reserved. Used under authorization.' etc. So you'll have to ask LFL, most likely. Reaching out to them at this point might be good thing to do anyway. Post BD, new management on the way in, see where you stand. (if that's even possible to figure out, and the reshuffling doesn't affect the books division...)

zombie84 wrote: I'm thinking of re-designing the website, to be a bit more interesting to look at. I feel like there should be something a bit more eye-catching.

Not sure on the eye-catching, most people go there to read. (which is clean and easy as it is) Link the revised book cover and the new website design. Maybe there's a fancy font which can be a link, like how they often do with the first word of a chapter. Maybe use/mimick some of GL's handwriting from those yellow script pages. Or you're own, it's your book.

One place to start redesigning is to collect places you appreciate, find easy to read, find easy to navigate, etc. and those can be ideas which to start a redesign. Otherwise 'blink' is eye-catching. (but not holding)

The flicker IS caused by my capturing device!

I was thinking more of the telecine? camera setup. Would the electronics of the 70s have been as quick to adjust as they do today. One side of me says, yes, as it's all electrical impulses, but old tech is old tech....

The takedown process is partially mechanical but as the years go by, there are purges which are probably done by interns who just blanket out huge swatches. You can counter the takedown. This is important especially if the video have a variety of comments which demonstrate public reaction and thus could be historically significant, even if it's a minor thing.

There's a thread for posting about full versions of the SW movies found on video hosting sites, and a few fan edits are in that list. Please add the Revisited ones if you can.

PS78: Pre-ANH Star Wars Bootleg VHS from 1978 ***"RAW" DVD RELEASED***
Time

Here are some of the initial findings.

General: Cropping all sides, heaviest top/bottom. The lower part of the top line of the Greedo subs gets shaved, the second line is cut. Print is shifted generally right. With a black shape on the left, right is vertically cut. Generally bright. In daylight shots the top 1/8th of frame gets blown out a bit. Colors are pale but pretty good. (but i'm no colorologist) Periodic tracking lines but they are brief, usually a few horizontal lines of static for a frame or two. At shot changes which have a bright spot, there is a color balance/contrast readjustment. Flicker is noticeable in bright shots, but it's not there all the time.

Specifics: The first reel change over is short. Missing the second set of dots. The Reel 3-4 change over is long. Extended black screen. As previously reported, it's the stereo* mix and has the John Williams tight credit and the switch to scrolling credits has an overlap with John Barry, as seen in mthr and PuggoGrande.

Questions: As the first reel change has been modified, is there a 16mm release which followed the theatrical release reel changes? Or are most/all 16mm similar to PuggoGrande in which two theatrical reels are one 16mm reel?

Current Search: Looking for ideas of other things to help identify. Collecting frame numbers which have frame errors like the Tantive Orange Errors which can be used to cross compare with other captures. These errors are few (maybe one every two minutes, probably will become less frequent, still haven't left Tatooine in my viewing) and are generally a small percentage of the screen frame. Of the ones checked with mthr it's about 50/50. Will post examples tomorrow.

Everything is surprisingly clean, considering what it is and it's age.
