Star Wars: Deleted Magic (Released)
Time
The cover was one of the mostly sky blue ones. Can't remember if it was just Luke on the cover or the Luke and Biggs shot. But definitely on the back just under the DM logo was film "by Garrett Gilchrist", so at least they are not pulling all the clout away from the creator. It's close to the 'hallwayorchard1.jpg'. My memory is telling me that the 'by GG' line was in a different font. (also darker grey) (i don't think they would have included the text about the non-for profit which is mentioned in the hallwayorchard version) But i didn't pay close enough attention, was in too much of a pissy mood for detail collection.

The way these free download sites work, is you upload the file and the site owner has a set of restrictions placed on the content you've uploaded. YSI.com might only allow for 10 downloads, other sites put a cap on the amount of content distributed (1/2 gig). The person who uploads the file will not be told one way or the other if the file has been downloaded. What probably happened is the first YSI-Link you made was downloaded and reached it's restriction, at which point it goes offline. To keep things alive, the people who've downloaded have to reupload.

Another option is creating your own bittrrent tracker. There is an open source one called http://blogtorrent.com/. You need access to a webserver and the ISP might have some restrictions, but they've made the installation relatively simple, and set up is less painful then a full blown bt tracker.

There are other tracker sites besides demonoid.

faq's are helpful....

YSI.com has a limit to the either the number of times or the amount of information transfered. For everyone to get a chance to see the files, the community involved has to reupload the files as they download them. Megaupload works a little differently but i can't remember the specifics, but i think they offer more bandwidth, but there's a couple hurdles. (not all OSs and browsers work successfully) If this kind of distribution doesn't work, we can all blame ourselves. there was a mention of demonoid earlier in the thread, maybe that's the way to go, with trrents the sharing is built in.

Info Wanted: Changes in the Prequel films?
Time
Eli's comment brings up an interesting point. Since AotC was released on opening day in two forms (film and digital) which one does everyone consider to be "canon"? The wedding scene was shown opening day in two forms. The strictly mechanical hands/bacta covered aka two hand hold/one hand hold versions. If your trying to match the theatrical then i would guess you'd be attempting to match the film version.

I don't think anyone has a problem with .vob files. The problem though is that if your not going to buy a full version of the software your using, then you've only got a few days to make changes. A .vob of the whole project will easily be 4+ gigs, that's at least a day for you to upload and for everyone to download. Asuming the worst, that puts you three days in the whole. 1 to make the file, 1 to upload, 1 for us to download. With a smaller version, you can get the project down to several hundred MB (~300 maybe), this will drastically shorten the time frame for transfer to get review and comment before your software expires. But all this is irrelevant if you decide to buy the software. Write it off on your taxes.

If your considering this a preview version, you could just make a small .avi/.mov/.qt/mp4/.wma/etc file (maybe 320x240) and upload it to one of the free sites like http://megaupload.com/ or http://www.yousendit.com/. This way you could get some feedback on what you've got, without all the effort of a full release. Maybe chop it up into small pieces for everyone to consume, maybe 2-6 minute chunks of parts you think work really well.

If anyone creates any experiments please post about them, i'm into glitch and other weird video forms.

If someone's knowledgeable, another neet glitch fx you can do with a compressed video file, is remove the key frame, so all that's left is the information dedicated to changing the previous frame. You get a really freaky slurring of the video. I talked to a guy who was able to accomplish the task but he said it was very time consuming. One method is by taking the raw video file into a text editor removing some of the first few lines (hoping their the keyframe) (but not all of the intitial text lines, you need to leave the beginning of the file to make it still recognizable as a video file) and then saving that. Sometimes it works, most often you get nothing. but the results are fantastic.

Nice! The walker blow up works great, get an oddness when the snow explosions all seem to gravitate toward the center of the screen.

In the longer clip, so much of it is just captivating. the cockpit shots i think work the best. There are some times where your understanding of the old material overrides the kaledescope play. (when 3po pops up and some of the walker shots) But there's plenty of great moments where the footage looks like a weird machanical device transforming. thinking about it, shots which have an objects pass through the center (after they've just been slightly off center) give some of the more powerful transformations.

The person who's thread this started out as is using AVIsynth. The guy's not going to release a copy, but he's put up a bunch more pics.

SilverWook figured out the movie. What gave it away?

Yeah I just filmed a monitor playing my vcr tape of ESB. Then moved it into premiere and mirrored the footage horizontally and vertically, for the kaleidoscope look. I had been at the Chicago Underground Film Festival, and someone had taken an old movie and did a horizontal flip and merge and played the movie at 10x speed (since the movie was mostly made up of stationary shots with people talking, when played at 10x and flipped it made for a very odd visual, close to very fast hyper twitching), and it looked like a fun technique to play around with. Then I made the credits run 90 degrees from normal for the 'watch everyone turn their head' routine. They probably look THX'ey because of the resolution, i don't remember using a special font. The neet part (which isn't really understandable from just looking at it) is how the video changes as the camera moves toward and away from the stationary monitor. the camera wasn't on a tripod so i would zoom in and pan around, and that gives weird effects to the kaleidoscope end product.

I mimicked the first ESB trailer for the homepage... http://noneinc.com/SWAQTF/
Is that a catchy title or what...

What Next?,,,

I don't think it's a next but it's something else and slightly related.
http://noneinc.com/SWAQTF/SWAQTFAV/StarWarsAQTFvid.mov (20 megs : made in 2001)

First person to figure out what Star Wars scene is being played gets.... nothing but the satisfaction of being able to pick out a star wars scene from video nonsense.

I'm fairly certain this is one of the first abstract SW Fan films. Anyone know any others?

Info Wanted: Turkish Star Wars?
Time
More on this and the other SW rip/take offs can be found here:
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=2&threadid=3141&highlight_key=y&keyword1=turkish

The Revengeismydestiny version is only semi-legit because no one has stepped up and claimed distribution rights in the US. There is no legit US version. I don't know if it's even got distribution in Turkey. But with the recent success of G.O.R.A. Bir Uzay Filmi, the old Turkish famous movie remake genre and films like this have probably gotten some interested folks to print new copies. There are several version out there, some have subtitles some don't, all are below average visually, but red wampas make this movie more then worth checking out.

Hands down, best zp3cc!4| 3F-Ex Evah. I weep with joy when the bad guy gets cut in half.

Interesting report about the UK Premiere of AotC:

"The UK terrestrial premiere of ATTACK OF THE CLONES on ITV1 was interesting- with a screening of the DVD release with the longer "I'm a Jedi" dialogue between Anakin/Padme in the Lars homestead garage. It also had the Jango head butt scene which wasn't shown in either the UK theatrical release or in the UK DVD release, which was great to see."
