Wanted: The 1983 'TVS' UK Premiere of Star Wars
Time

There is a clip of the intro/promo bumper on youtube.  Can ask the user if they're up for a trade.

Haven't had much luck with this process but you never know.

There's a preservation which pulls together a bunch of these television broadcast intros/bumpers into dedicated SW commercial breaks:

Good luck with your search, am also searching for old televised broadcasts.

Thanks, feel free to recommend any revisions, can push and pull this thing.  For instance is this the resolution you want to work from?  You're right about the background, I used a frame where you could see some of the crawl, so when the new crawl was added, determining where the end fade was could be matched up.  Besides Sluggo's crawl all the elements are temp, recommend a source which you believe is the best (for the star field and pan down), and i'll work from that.  These were from the recent EDITDROID v3 preservation.

As a start that link is finding several McQuarrie images above 1000x750.

JediTray's VINYL preservation project (CANCELLED)
Time

Okay, things are back on track.

I have decided to adjust the dB levels on each track individually, so when played, the peaks will be more the same across the board and the listener won't have to keep adjusting their volume.

Did they ever go off track, it was a little over 24 hours.  Most projects go weeks without updates.

I disagree with leveling each track individually.  It doesn't make sense to have the love theme at air plane level decibels just so someone doesn't need to adjust the volume when transitioning from the Imperial March.  The recording industry has done just this to everything of late, i would guess to suit the earphone generation who buys singles.  But this was not the goal of this original recording, it was meant to be played in a 'semi' quiet theater as an overall piece of music.

Thanks for the kind words IrishLuck1980.

Odd opportunity has arisen, LFL has announced the 3D theatrical release of the movies and in the HollywoodReporter article they predicts an "ultimate home viewing experience", so if you're bored, in the comment sections of articles which appear in the next couple weeks, please drop in the Title of this project.

STAR WARS THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE Is Forever ...One Last Time

3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED!
Time

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/46774

No word on who shoots first, but want to swoop down into the Death Star trenches in 3D anyway?

Hollywood Reporter sources indicate all six of the live-action “Star Wars” movies will hit cinemas in 3D, starting in roughly 18 months.

Now the bad news.

“The Phantom Menace” will be he first out of the gate in early 2012, according to the report. Then, if box office warrants, “Attack of the Clones” in early 2013, “Revenge of the Sith” in early 2014, “A New Hope” in 2015, “Empire Strikes Back” in 2016 and “Return of the Jedi” in 2017.

We are going to be SO OLD!

The story indicates the movies are being spaced out this way because it takes about a year to suck each movie into the third dimension.

George Lucas says one hold up has been the wait for enough cinemas to finally upgrade to 3D capability.

Lucas told the New York Times last month that all six movies (in 2D) will be hitting Blu-ray in 2011.

Find all of The Hollywood Reporter’s story on the matter here.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i677c428c4dc16c2c7592835d50e86a3a

Each conversion takes at least a year to complete, with Lucas personally overseeing the process to make sure each one is as perfected as possible. Lucas has said that the "Avatar" experience convinced him that "Star Wars" was ready for the state-of-the-art 3D treatment.

Also pushing the timetable is a potential breakthrough in 3D television technology. With Samsung penetrating the market with 50,000-plus 3D-equipped televisions, and Sony planning to send its version to market in the coming months, the home-viewing experience could be primed for 3D DVD versions of the classic films by the time the new 3D series runs its course.

Lucas is purportedly queuing up the theatrical re-releases as a lead-in to the ultimate home viewing experience. Beyond that, the property would launch to all other 3D media.

STAR WARS - THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE - Is Forever ...One Last Time (Television Trilogy Preservation Set + SW Commercial Breaks) -The Ordeal Is Real- & available (Released)
Time

The ordeal is real.  ...and it has arrived.

STAR WARS - THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE  Is Forever ...One Last Time

Relive or experience for the first time the media blitz which fed off and supported the swelling popularity of the Star Wars.  Hosted by Billy Dee Williams, this preservation of the last broadcast (widescreen letterboxed) of the Original Trilogy has been expanded by Star Wars only commercial breaks from the theatrical release time period showcasing toy/food/apparel commercials, interviews, news reports, trailers, reviews, bumpers and other diverse broadcasted bits about the Star Wars.

Each disc's Star Wars ONLY main feature clocks in at a minimum 4 hrs. 23 min.  But there are play back options from 10 minutes to the 'Play All' 5 hrs. 18 min. epic mythic odysseeic journey. (I don't recommend this)  So although the Ultimate Journey is 13 hrs. 19 min., if you're still infotainment starved, the random play menus (Intro, Main Menu and Options Menu) each have three variations representing home video recording generation loss.  Try to play them all, full glitch version provides programming secrets!

Save Star Wars Dot Com
Time

Going with the idea of the dishonesty/ignorance behind the CNET article, here's another example.  The Science Channel had a program last year called "The Science of the Movies".  In the first episode they interview John Dykstra about motion-control technology. One of the opening quotes goes like this:

It's a technology which allows filmmakers to do the seemingly impossible.  Turn tiny models into colossal spaceships.

and they cut to the SE Death Star approach shot.

So what I figure could be done is we can take these kind of shows and insert the original shot, so people can see the difference.  I've taken this programs opening segment and inserted the OT shot, let me know what you all think.

http://noneinc.com/SSW/SotM-002-half_h264/  SotM-002-half_h264-desktop.m4v  (8 min. 57 mb)

This version uses the whole segment, but probably it's best to severly cut out the extraneous, so this can probably be whittled down to 2-4 minutes.  Used the Wookiegroomer Splits for the additional clip source.
