Leigh Brackett's first draft of Empire
Time

quote about the Brackett script from Kurtz in Starlog 1978.12

pg.22

The script, penned by Brackett, was carefully constructed to avoid all cliches and stereotypes.  Unfortunately, shortly after finishing her initial draft, the talented writer passed away.  Already nearing pre-production time, Kurtz and Lucas picked up the script and ran with it.

"We now have two drafts that we're quite pleased with," says Kurtz.  "We took Leigh Brackett's draft and looked at it.  It was fine.  George took it and made some minor modifications, fleshing it out a bit because, obviously, she didn't have the chance.  She was going to do two drafts and a polish but passed away just as she was about to start the second draft.  The difference between her first draft and the second one completed by George is fairly minimal.  George had to re-adjust the emphasis slightly.  We may or may not hire another writer to do a minor dialogue polish.  We'll be making that decision soon."

Info: a Smear-free '93 ?

And msycamore is correct: they're not apparent on JSC, but that doesn't really prove anything for certain.

Also not on the CED.

*Speculation* but this CED was an outdated format by the time they released anything and the JSC was released towards the end of the laserdisc run, would LFL have thrown a lesser 'master' copy for these home releases which they were probably financial obligated to do but not fully behind?  or were CED's produced in Japan and that's a possible connection for a different master being used...

This page says they were pressed in Carrollton, Georgia, so theory 2 is crap....

...and you went to Disneyland and were not "raped" and/or "killed", you might not be SERIOUS enough with your preservation activities.

Also a neet RotJ VHS commercial in the same user's library:

(wish i knew about this a few months ago, would have been part of the Ultimate Experience...)

The above mentioned doc, doesn't seem like a broadcast show, lacking a title sequence and credits, could this be a 'show reel' for an FX department, or maybe a short which aired in a theme park?  or maybe it was for broadcast but just a working version....  anyone recognize the host, might be in his IMDB.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>

After viewing the dvd-9 version of Star Wars Revisited I noticed a difference between my dvd and the youtube video's. On the youtube video I noticed Panda Baba's arm and hove replacing Dr. Evazen's hand. In dvd-9 version that I downloaded it is Evazen's hand which was cauterized.

Which is the most current version?

It's not an issue with current.  After releasing the official Adywan version, a group wanted a version which toned down some of the far reaching changes so that it was closer to the SW theatrical presentation.  This 'toned down' version is called the 'Purist' Edition:

Here's a thread where people discuss the merits of both versions:

VHS capture - Previously Edited Tape - Audio Tracking at Edits
Time

When capturing a VHS tape, coming across several spots which have audio clicks or the db levels drop.  The SP TV recording is second generation (to remove commercials) done on "high quality decks with flying erase heads"

Sample: (156mb)

***File Removed***

Trying different tracking spots been able to recapture and mend the audio problems when they exist away from an edit.  Are there any methods for improving the capture or is this tracking issue beyond the abilities of a home VCR?  (Sony SLV-779HF)

Luckily it's only two spots on this tape, but would be nice to have the audio clear on this sample clip.  Is there a post capture solution?

...and when the Blu's come out next October, that will be the frosting on the cake, I just hope they are packaged in a HUGE Millenium Falcon.

Can't imagine how much that would cost...

The boring answer is a "Marker".

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Millennium_Falcon

During the final round of the Cloud City Sabacc Tournament, Calrissian threw in a marker for "any ship on his lot" (at the time, he was the owner of a used spaceship lot on Nar Shaddaa, where the Falcon was parked). Solo, the other contestant remaining in the tournament, accepted the marker, knowing that Calrissian had taken a cruise ship to the tournament and left the Falcon behind. When Solo won the game, he claimed the Falcon as his own on the technicality which had been overlooked by his unlucky opponent.
