STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Here's my reasoning for a single "Revisited Thread"

A discussion about Han Solo's character arc takes place, focused on ESB:R. However, after discussing "I Love You" "I know" for two pages... we move into a discussion of Greedo shooting first and why that's wrong... but, should that conversation carry on for more than half a page... someone pops up (and... per forum rules, rightfully so) and says wrong thread for this discussion... Which means everyone involved in the discussion now has to switch threads to carry on a conversation. They then have to check back to the original thread to check the start of the conversation they were having, before popping back to the new thread to respond.... It makes things difficult.

Can someone actually involved in the project start a "Revisited Saga" thread? I feel awkward doing it because it's not mine to start... but it gets hard to "stay on topic" because the current revisited thread seems to be the home for all Revisited Saga discussion. It's seems strange to jump halfway through a discussion to a different thread that arguably way fewer people check on a regular basis...

See, I can handle it either way.

In the end, it comes down to the fact that ANH was filmed as a single standalone film, where ESB and RotJ were both filmed knowing they were a part of a trilogy. Considering the fact that ESB is most people's favorite of the films, I don't think that it would be awful to alter the end of ANH to flow into ESB.

By ending ANH with Vader's revelation that Luke is alive, ESB with Luke's revelation that Vader is his father, and RotJ with the redemption, you keep with a common theme. If anything, it would strengthen the connection between the films. And in doing so, also strengthen the connection to the PT. Considering Ady is planning on doing all 6 films in an attempt to bring them closer together, I think this could work really well towards that goal.

I know that this would indeed cause rioting... but I have to say that watching Vader's ship land on Coruscant at the end of ANH, and seeing him on a landing platform speaking to someone of importance (no clue who) would be a really nice tie in and look pretty cool

"Lord Vader"

"Yes, commander?"

"We have the name of the Rebel Pilot responsible for the destruction of the Death Star"

"What is it (What is his name)?"

"Luke Skywalker, my lord. It appears that he may be the son of Anakin Skywalker."

"That... is impossible"

"I believed all traces of Skywalker were eliminated with the rest of the Jedi."

"As did I commander... as... did... I..."

I think on a certain level it works better to go with "Adywan Productions", especially because the films are made by "Lucasfilm". There are so many people involved, but George Lucas was the man in charge - the name was derived from the man with the vision.

I happen to enjoy the parallel :)

I have to say... the Mr. Adrian thing is driving me nuts. :P

Faneditors have secret identities. It's like seeing Superman saving the world and saying "It's a bird, it's a plane. No, it's Mr. Kent!" There's just something not right with that statement.

On these boards, when he is discussing edits, he is Adywan, savior of Star Wars.

I wouldn't view it as "how much work has gone into it"... though, the use of time actively working on it might be a good projection for how long the other edits take. But ultimately, a little piece of me hopes simultaneously that it will all be done asap, and that it never ends. I love having something to look forward to, especially something as amazing as this...

One thing that might help with the rest of the revisited projects is the fact that all of the video sources for RotJ and the PT will be available from the start. Remember that Ady got the hdtv source right near the end of completing ANH:R, and the Bluray source was released halfway through ESB:R. Should shave off a few months :)

Info Wanted: Emperor Palpatine -- Sith form "reveal" vs. force lightning backfire?
Time

My belief here is that the whole concept should be taken even further. After the lights surge and Mace is flung out the window, I think the room should be left in near darkness for the rest of the scene - the lightning having overloaded the electronics and blown out the light bulbs. So you see the reveal illuminated by the lightning, but don't see his deformed face in full until you see him in the Senate. This also adds an extra visual representation that the darkness has descended upon Anakin.

Funny how the article bashes blinking Ewoks but fails to mention Ady's cantina scene or blinking Yoda.

Yoda blinks naturally, with a slight face scrunch, etc... Ewoks just do the creepy eye thing.

Though, if you pay attention to the article, it does say that many people would be pissed off if Lucas made the same changes as Ady, which would include those things.

I mean this in a totally non-offensive way, but I think too many people get caught up in thinking this project is a preservation as opposed to what the special editions should have been - enhancements that improve the quality of the material and help add to the impact of the film without detracting from it.

This lackluster line is a nice example of the sort of thing a special edition CAN touch up on when every detail is analyzed and perfected.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Considering how many players are available that can play both NTSC and PAL discs, I was curious if anyone has watched both region versions, and if the better resolution on PAL really stands out. ANYONE? :)

If I were to slow the video playback on the PAL version to 24p(23.9....), and then replace the audio with the NTSC version audio so it matched up, technically speaking i should have the best version of Revisited possible.

A lot of Bluray players play a variety of video files now, and output at 24p.

In this setup, would it be worth it to try this, or would the results be negligible? Keep in mind, nothing would be re-encoded from what Adywan originally released.
