Is this intended as a new way to view CW, or as a potential alternative to the PT?

@cain spaans start a separate thread. 97 se aren't as sought after but you may have some takers.
@Charliex look for a program called mezzmo. Has been my one stop solution for streaming. 360 is crazy picky with files not fed to it by a media server.
So how bout that Jabba force ghost we're sure to see in Ep 7? :-P
Sounds like we need to get you set up with SSDs in a 10 core multiprocessor server setup. :-)
I believe I also lost contact with Angel 6 months ago. At that point he was frequenting FE.org
As for the edit... I'm waiting for the audio work to get really moving. That's the beginning of the final stretch :-)
May I ask what they are for that they are needed in 1080?
I was thinking perhaps you could upscale Harmy's pretty easily.
Understandable... I think we touched on that a while ago, but knowing it's a clear one version per film is nice. Do you think narratively RotJ will play out differently with scenes rearranged and many new shots added? Or will it follow the same general outline?
Perhaps you could straight up cut out any mention of slavery? Anakin just works for watto to help pay the bills. Manipulate the scenes to make it look like a casual wager.
That way when Anakin shows up in Ep 2 you can skip Watto. Go straight to Owens "I figured you'd show up eventually."

On a different subject, RotJ Revisited seems like it will be more of an actual fan edit than a special edition. I think it would be nice for Ady to release two versions - a straight special edition to finish the OT for purists, and the heavily edited (and hopefully IMO rearranged and narrative different) version. Thoughts?
I've always felt that there is more of a surprise in store for the audience in the OT having seen PT Yoda. At first you're in shock that he has gone nuts. Then you're surprised that he hasn't actually.
A lot more than most people here, I find that I'm happy seeing anything done to ANY of the films to make them work as a 6-part series. The truth is that the PT sets things up on a very huge stage, and the OT really presents a much smaller, focused world. Yoda as a "distant, unseen" mentor is hard to buy for three full movies (and an absence in the fourth) when space travel seems so easy and to take almost no time at all. Sure for a couple movies, you can do that, but then you expect to see some sort of interaction with this far off character.
Perhaps Yoda could be in his home on Dagobah during the events of The Phantom Menace, shown only through a hologram, up until perhaps the ending of the film. The Sith returning would flush him out of solitude, at which point he would return to the Temple for the rest of the PT, until he is defeated in Ep. 3 and returns home, now exiled.
It might be cool to see Yoda in his hut, with a hologram of Anakin as a boy, giving his "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering" lecture. You could switch back and forth between the council room and Yoda's hut throughout the scene. Yoda scenes would be much easier to film as well, I would think. You could show the back and forth for nearly every sequence he is a part of.
He then is shown leaving Dagobah on a ship right around the time that Obi/Qui-Gon head back to Naboo. That way he has arrived in time to be at the funeral, and to tell Obi-Wan "Your apprentice, Skywalker will be..."
an added sequence somewhere in there could have a Samuel J lookalike (or some random Jedi) asking: Master Yoda, if this is true, what must we do?
"If return, the Sith have, my time to return, it is as well." It could be built up to a huge moment, with some sort of triumphant return music.
Just a small thought ;)
I look forward to the new ending :-)
I wonder how much the RotJ Yoda puppet will be changed? The face always seemed a bit off to me compared to ESB.

I think the idea of a speech is terribly evocative of the PT's spoonfeeding of the audience. The OT was great because it could convey things purely through visuals IMO.
I agree - to a certain extent. However, I never have found the Ewok Village Celebration to be a good end to what is supposed to be an epic 6 film saga. At the same time, I think that the every world riot celebration is a little bit over the top, as it implies that the whole Empire has fallen. I think a speech gives a nice in between, telling that a big battle was won, but the war is not over - The visuals have never said that for me.
If it wasnt for the fact that itd be really hard to pull off convincingly, i would love to see Leia give the speech - she was a Senator, after all. ive always thought RotJ cheapened her character and made her seem weak. Perhaps this could be slightly redemptive.
Episode 7 for me would work great if the beginning of the film is about Luke. He's being hunted down by somebody (probably female antagonist), and so he's on the run. Quickly, he picks up a streetwise kid who steals to survive (Aladdin-esque). He catches the kid stealing, and takes the time to tell him what he's doing is wrong and that he can come with him.
They make camp for a night, and Luke has yet to reveal that he's a Jedi. Luke wakes up from sleeping to catch the kid using the force to move the logs on the fire. Luke proceeds to tell him about the force, etc.
Menwhile, Luke is staying in contact with Han and Leia. Han and Chewie are searching for Luke's attackers, while Leia is on Coruscant overseeing the New Republic in some capacity.
As the film progresses, the focus shifts to Luke's tagalong... they meet up with Han and Chewie, eventually finding out that Leia is the real target. Han teaches the new kid how to fly the Falcon, which looks almost the exact same but has been renovated to look almost new.
They rush to save Leia, everyone gets trapped. The new kid watches helplessly as Luke is about to be killed by a female Sith. Luke falls to the ground, drops his lightsaber, it turns off. At the last second, the new kid pulls it to him with the force, jumps in and blocks the attack that would have killed Luke (This is the first time he ever uses a lightsaber). Seeing this, Luke finds enough strength to pick her up with the force and toss her against the wall, knocking her out.
After the battle, Han stands next to the Falcon and says "That's it, I'm retiring. Hey kid, you fly pretty well. I understand you don't have much etc, take her she's yours."
Luke and apprentice fly off, Han, Leia, and Chewie wave from balcony on Coruscant - the camera zooms out - roll credits
By Ep 8, training is in full swing. They pick up a companion for the apprrentice early on. About halfway through the film, Luke dies. At this point, besides small appearances, the OT cast would be done.

Am I the only one who doesn't prefer the new positioning of his hands? I much prefer the hands being more on his hips rather than so close to his belt buckle. I think if you're able to get the original positioning correct then why change it?
This actually REALLY bothered me when I first saw it. However, I find with Aalenfae's added light source at the bottom, it is less distracting. I think it stands out so much right now because his hands/arms happen to be in a place where the hologram contrasts a lot with the background, drawing attention to them.
Actually, for the end of Jedi, I have an idea to make the "around the galaxy" shots more viable.
What if, in each of those shots, there is a Hologram speaking to the people. It would be a single hologram, broadcast to each planet, with the various shots of the different planets adding up to create the whole speech. I'm not sure who would deliver it - whether it is someone who would have to be recast, or a new "rebel" representative.
The speech could touch on something along these lines
"People of the Galactic Empire, slaves to the tyranny of Emperor Palpatine. A great victory has been won this day. A group of rebel freedom fighters has brought about the destruction of the Death Star, and in so doing has ended the reign of Palpatine and his dark assassin, Darth Vader. Though many lives have been lost on both sides, this battle marks a great turning point in the future of the galaxy. We are fighting to restore this once great galaxy to its former glory. Though we lay down our lives, we do so knowing it will help to end the hate and the fear. The Empire will fall, and at last, diplomacy will resume. And with that diplomacy, and the birth of a New Republic, we will regain our freedom."
Gotta agree on the glow effect. I was kinda meh on the shot until then. Not to say its not brilliant work muddy and ady. Aalenfae just brought it home :)
Duh. He cant afford cookies after that :-(
I just like the subtle "no". he could almost be replying to Luke's "Father, help me!"... but then BAM, he picks up the emperor and throws the bastard.
Dont kill me for suggesting this...
at the end of RotJ when Vader screams " Noooooooo" ...right before that he says a simple short No. I personally wouldnt mind that one being kept.
Just curious - I get the feeling a lot of us talk about it more than we actually watch.
I watch a full Star Wars movie every month and a half or so... usually if I'm going to watch one, I watch a couple. I am a victim of the numbering system though... that slightly ocd desire to have a full marathon, starting with Episode 1. I rarely make it out of the PT :( I hate sand...
Ok, my last piece on the laserdisc piece. in relation to software fm signal conversion, would this be helpful? im not a programmer or anything, but this guy seemed to be on the right path, if im understanding correctly.

Nice! Looks possible, but time consuming. And would take programming a new analysis program.
Considering the lengths people are willing to go to for star wars preservations, I wouldn't be surprised to see an "electron microscope laserdisc scanning and analysis to retrieve pure video signal" project pop up. (Fingers crossed).
But yes, a 3 source cross reference scan is more probable by far.
Either would be an awesome source for Harmy.
Excuse my ignorance (as always) but could you simply physically scan a laserdisc surface at a microscopic zoom rate, and use a pc to analyze the lans/pits and pull the information from it? That way you could pull a 100% pure video signal from it?
Totally unrelated, except for the "volunteered services" part... but I've been looking for someone with technical skill to help me hone and release a refined version of my Fan Edit of The Phantom Menace, "The Phantom Hour". It is the whole film, condensed into a tight little hour long package that ties together neatly. I have a workprint I can get to you if you're interested. Not quite the preservationist dream... but maybe it's a start?
