I'm sure he meant creep in a good way.

Perhaps it's not the lax use by Jedi that is at fault. I'd assume that a Jedi would be quite comfortable using their weapon with little effort, so to give that rarely used feel to them seems ... off.
To me, the problem lies in the lack of public respect of Jedi as a whole that is shown in the PT. Rarely are their actions truly praised, and you never really see Jedi in action just generally doing good deeds. Jedi should be shown rescuing children from wreckage, where the children look up at them in awe and wonder, completely thankful and knowing they are safe because of the Jedi's presence.
We never feel that presence, because the people they generally interact with and protect are either high ranking so there is less sympathy, or just generally unlikeable. The only reason that Yoda and Mace Windu (and Ki-Adi-Mundi) maintained that feel of respect is because they were obviously looked up to within the council. And you can think it's stupid or hate it all you want, but I have more respect for a lightsaber when Yoda first pulls his out of his cloak in AotC (ignore the jumps and flips and just focus on the drawing the lightsaber), than any time you see Anakin flippantly pull his out.
To me, lightsaber equals jedi - If the Jedi isn't revered, there will be little to no reverence for their use of a lightsaber.
It all comes down to putting characters into situations that the audience can connect with, without overdoing it and shoving it down our throats...
Because I can imagine Imperial Troops holding a group of women and children hostage with an Army of Stormtroopers marching through the mist, and 10 or 15 or even more Jedi attacking this huge army, trying to break through to save the innocent and helpless. Storm trooper heads rolling, blue and green sabers slicing bodies to the ground, blasters taking out Jedi. Utter chaos, watching the kids look on in fear, their mothers crying, trying to soothe them and stroke their hair...
Yoda made him do it...
I'm confused, last time I looked the FatherMerrin edits were at the top of your list. Now the Davytod edits are at the top. Is the bottom of the list being uploaded first or are the Davytod edits more sought after? (Really excited for a copy of my edit. PC crashed and I haven't seen it in ages.)

Actually, thinking about it. I see this playing out with less of the feel of "Fight Club" and more along the lines of "The Secret Window". Fight Club had a certain wow, that's cool feeling at the end, where Secret Window left you with a feeling of wow, that could really happen, poor guy just lost it trying to cope with life. The redeemable piece is the fact that the feelings being channeled to personality #2 were originally thought of and felt by personality #1 - Had he not lost it, personality #1 might've acted on those things anyway, but because he was a good person, he couldn't bring himself to do it.
The difference is that you don't need to do it in a Tyler Durden way...
The EditDroid line of "Obi-Wan would have told you long ago, had I let him" now eliminates this need to save Ben's diginity. Ultimately, it means that Yoda orchestrated the whole thing as a plot to bring down the Empire - what better way to do this than to instill a desire for vengeance in Luke, carefully nurtured to make sure he doesn't stray to the dark side. He is the last hope (pretty much) and desperate times call for desperate measures.
With this in mind, new completely separate footage could be filmed and worked in to RotS of Darth Vader moving through the city, doing messed up things. In at least one scene, make sure he refers to himself simply as "Vader". Make sure it only happens at night. And as soon as you disassociate Darth Vader from Anakin, add a few subtle hints in to make a very astute first time viewer wonder if maybe Anakin has split personalities, that "Vader" comes out at night. Maybe a rip in both of their robes or something small but noticeable when you look. Add bags under Anakin's eyes in daytime scenes directly following night time activities. Find a way to work "Vader" into a conversation, and perhaps put up wanted posters.
But if nothing else... if "Darth" is going to be used as a Sith title, I think it is important that if Vader shows up at all prior to Anakin's "death", that he always be referred to as "Vader", never as "Darth Vader". He only gains the "Darth" title after Anakin's "death", when the second personality takes over.
No compression should be needed. Just a file sharing site :)
^Very nice. Last I heard, Frink was on it.
For all intents and purposes, i am the most pleasant and friendly you will find. You'll also find that often my posts are not in line with the collective thinking of the group... be happy for the teasing. Often my ideas are deemed so odd i am simply ignored. Not that I'm bitter...
I'd love to see just the first two Biggs scenes put back in. Skip Luke initially seeing the battle - it adds context, but breaks the pacing of the initial sequence. Put in the scene of Luke telling his friends about the battle right after r2 and 3po take the escape pod. Put in Lukes discussion with Biggs right after 3po hails the transport. Simple and effective. Sometimes people get stuck in the all or nothing mode, but as a general rule with extended editions i say put in only what is actually needed and adds to the narrative.
Not only is shelving the film for 6 months to release on a certain date stupid, it could be potentially dangerous in regards to Eps 8 and 9.
Unlike a lot of films where a sequel is a possibility, in this scenario we KNOW that we are getting a trilogy. With that in mind, they will probably get things rolling for Ep 8 as soon as Ep 7 is completed. If Ep 7 is completed 6 months before any audience has a chance to see it, that means that Ep 8 will be developed completely independent of objective opinions provided by fans who have seen Ep 7. Without that input, Ep 8 could well be made in a perpetual vacuum, following the formula set in place by an Ep 7 that might really suck.
I could be swayed to accept 6 more months of post production to really tighten things up though, so long as they take advantage of the extra time.
I'm actually really fond of the idea of different colors for the crawls.
TPM - Orange
AotC - Teal
RotS - Bright Red
ANH - Yellow
ESB - Dark Blue
RotJ - Green or Maroon
I've been wondering this too. The difficulty is how to get the dialogue in without the footage. I think that when they get to full restoration mode on the LD there might be a chance they can fix the footage enough for just a few shots.
Also, if footage is used from the LD, I would hope that a way can be found to include the Luke/Lightsaber footage. I understand the desire for best possible picture quality, but that isn't always possible, and Harmy's Despecialized should be a good indicator that people can still be extremely satisfied, despite the varying quality of source material.

Do they serve panakacakes?
I am so happy that this has caught on.
Blue Milk Panakacakes FTW!
Ep 7- The Great Midichlorian Migration
The midichlorians of the galaxy have packed their bags and set out for somewhere new. Bye bye Force...
Honestly, the nostalgia factor for the faces set hinges on the "original versions one last time" commercial and the George Lucas and Leonard Maltin interview. That to me has always been what excites me the most and lets me know I'm watching Star Wars, the same way the Fox fanfare does for other people. A version with that preserved would be really awesome.
Either way, it is in everybody's best interests to get lossless captures up asap.
I believe "Thanks night" was referring to me... In that context the grammar is correct... mostly... (I hear the word mostly in Jake Lloyd's voice everytime I use it by itself...)
I do have to say, thanks to this thread, my children will grow up eating Panaka Cakes :)
... Sorry we didn't follow with the original Luke vs Emperor theme. The truth is that Luke is outmatched so much that the fight wouldn't be that interesting. Just the force, Sidious kicks his ass. We already saw this with force lightning. Had Vader not been there, Luke would have died.
If the match were to progress to Lightsabers... I'm still under the impression that Sidious is more powerful. Luke has never struck me as a particularly powerful duelist, in the same way that Harry Potter isn't some really strong wizard - it's a lot of luck and circumstance and the occasional good decision/upper hand. If Vader wasn't his father, Luke would've died at the end of Empire during their fight.
Sword and lightsaber... still Sidious. I have the image in my head of him using the force to impale Luke's exhausted body with his lightsaber over and over again...
I'm sure none of us meant any disrespect not following the guide you set up, we simply ran with the title of your thread and found ourselves some ultimate(ly amusing) duels.
And I am now seriously in the mood for some butterbluemilk pancakes...
Indeed Frink, indeed. The impact that could have on the viewing experience is unprecedented.
You're forgetting the power of blue milk...
They need to give the pt the Navajo treatment. Great option to redub and subtitle aliens.
I'm really curious how many people have donated sperm, blood, and plasma to make money to send to Ady...
Talk about a project built on blood, sweat and tears...
Episode 7 - The Retiring Clones Social Security Debacle
Yeah... I'm less dense than my post may have made me look to some people :P
Just not something I'd ever seen anyone do so thought I'd throw it out there.
