Any takers yet? C'mon guys. Should we take this request to other boards?
Any takers yet? C'mon guys. Should we take this request to other boards?
Ok guys... Don't let this thread die... If we could pull this off, imagine what could happen in SW fan editing!
Sorry... I typed this thinking I was farther down the line.
Well when R2 is needed, I'm sure we can pull from the other movies for that. So, no need for anyone to do that. Not a huge issue. But if everyone agrees with the list, I say let's get started. Start posting sound clips of you doing a character from the list and we'll go from there. Obviously whoever is chosen for the Obi-wan redub should do the redub for all three, and so on...
Just to keep the ball rolling, does anyone know who can do a Qui-Gon impression?
When we decide (I say if three people are in agreement over an impression we say that person is the one.) I'll post an updated list of who is doing what.
I thought I would go ahead and get that character list posted for TPM.
I listed everyone I knew, and some I didn't who have actors credited for voice work so I put them in. Does this seem to be a pretty complete list?
Qui-gon Jinn
Obi-wan Kenobi
Padmé Amidala
Anakin Skywalker (young)
Shmi Skywalker
Yoda
Senator Palpatine
Gov. Sio Bibble
Darth Maul
Capt. Panaka
Jar Jar Binks
C-3PO
R2-D2
Supreme Chancellor Valorum
Boss Nass
Watto
Sebulba
Capt. Tarpals
Viceroy Nute Gunray
Ki-Adi-Mundi
Ric Olié
Fighter Pilot Bravo 5 (female)
Fighter Pilot Bravo 2 (male)
Fighter Pilot Bravo 3 (male)
Mace Windu
Sabé (Queen's decoy)
TC-14 (female...However, I think this doesn't matter in this case.)
Beed & Fode (Two-headed commentator at pod-race.)
Kitster
Rune Haako
Daultay Dofine
Sen. Lott Dodd
Aks Moe
Battle Droids
Good deal. I'm going to get a character list so that everyone interested can find a character they can re-dub.....
I suppose we can begin with TPM... I'll get a list up soon. Perhaps we need to have some ground rules too... In order for you to be on the redub you have to submit an audio sample of you doing the character you would like to redub. If it sounds like the character and your the first to deliver it, you're the guy or girl.
Once all the spaces are taken, we can begin. Everyone involved must have a copy of TPM as this should be the standard for the redub, and then re-record the lines. Obviously when you record you must speak at the same pace as the actor onscreen. Ideally I feel like it would be good to see some different tones, but at this point I feel it should be done as is.
If everyone is agreement with this then I'll drop in a character list. If anyone has anything to add or if you feel we need to discuss things further, that's cool too. Just trying to get the ball rolling on this! =)

I'm interestined.
Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier that I do a darn good Watto.
Awesome. Can you render out a sound clip of that?

I know the quality was off, but not so much that you couldn't grasp that you do amazing voice work.
Since we know you can nail Grevious... Why not redub all his lines from ep. 3 to start off, and make it available for download for fan editing work.
It would be awesome if we can find someone who can redub every character accurately. This free so much up having a complete voices only track.
Just to start off, can anyone do a Liam Neeson well enough to redub TPM?

It could use some further work, but I think overall it's an improvement. Opinions?
PS: video will follow whenever my computer completes the rendering...
While I think the orange tint was intentional, I do like the gray Yoda like I've said before. However the wide shot as a good bit of noise in it. Have you ever heard of Neat Video... It's the best grain reducer I've seen. You should try it on these.
While maybe not so extreme, I kinda like the grain: it feels like a film instead of a blurry digital video.
True!

Here is that video for anyone interested.
That was excellent... It actually lends ideas to plot... It almost has an Incredible Hulk feel where it's Anakin trying to beat down the monster inside, not knowing it is inside of him. Nice.

Sevb32 said:I am waiting on TPM Blu Ray with the CG Yoda and Ady to tone down Jar's Jar's antics, I don't hate Jar Jar like others do, but he could get rid of the Eopie farting on Jar Jar and stuff like that. Don't eliminate all Jar Jar's clumsiness though, because that's part of his character, like it or not.
So the CG yoda will be on the TPM bluray? Interesting. Is this official?

"begun the Clone war has" scene at the end of the movie
& the other yoda scene (forward command center)
I was avoiding that particular scene because of how messed up it is. Just to show how difficult this scene is:
In the the lower correction I was just trying to get the greys and lightning somewhat right, it looks very pale and will need a second, additional color pass.
That trailer still looks simply right... I wonder how the hell this color job even got approved and copies were sent to theaters...
BTW, I'm still looking for those AotC trailers. I can't rip them from the extras dvd for some reason. Would someone be kind enough to do so?
I gotta admit... Gray Yoda is kinda cool.

Hm. My timeline of the last couple decades: 1993-1996 -- manifested Crohn's Disease, 1996-2004 -- managed Crohn's through the "if I ignore it it'll go away" method, 2004-2005 -- health failed and I started trying to manage things right, October 2005 (into November) -- spent six weeks in the hospital and almost died, spent ten months getting things turned around before i was strong enough for corrective surgery, and then another year before the second surgery to fix the damage from the first (since my body was still weak at the time).
All this to say, my mind was affected by my general deterioration, and other things I've seen of my work from that time weren't as good as I felt at the time. I haven't gone through my full script rewrite of Episode I since that time. Lemme take a pass before I post it to make sure. Episode II is about thirty pages of notes and scenes needing to be expanded the rest of the way out. And I'll wait on posting the link to my Episode III re-write until I've made sure the first two are presentable, so the thread of the story is consistent. I've taken this very seriously, as I've been a Star Wars fan pretty much my whole life, and the Prequels were such a letdown.

Sounds good. I would just like to read through it all. It would only help you to let it be read. There are some amazing ideas that get bounced around in here.
This thread has taken on new life. I'm very interested. When can we read a screenplay?
Work copy or not... It's crazy to release a video like that... It really is strange.
I agree with ADY, the donations conversation needs to end. I will personally be very upset if we get shut down because of this kind of chatter.
Seriously, though. Render out a good quality video... Work print or not. It just turns people off. Not many will want to watch that. Oh, and I really and truly mean all this as constructive criticism. I WANT you to succeed in this edit.
It's been so long... I think I need to re-read the thread to remember all that was discussed.... Has anyone decided what animation format this should be in? I hope we would find something that wasn't laughable.. Surely there is someone who can do a little CG animation. I'm sure I have no clue what I'm suggesting when I say that... But I am curious.
Cade I need to learn how you're doing this.... Settings and all. Amazing.
Trooperman said:^^Yes, I left detailed instructions on how to open the files and what needed to be done to finish it.
It's a lot of technical work, with some creativity in the audio in sections I hadn't finished. Like I said, I think the main headache has been mixing my own voice, which makes me think that my voice is just too different from Hayden's to be believable. No matter how it's mixed, or by whom (me, Ady, or Paul), there are always a few scenes that just don't seem to work.
At this point I am almost ready to just put Hayden's voice back, but that would screw up the scenes where I changed the dialogue, and it would make Darth Vader a whiny wuss again, which is the main reason I did this edit...to avoid that.
Honestly, I personally think a lot of it is because we know that's not Hayden's voice and it takes you out of it... I think after you watch it a few times you adjust to the new tone. What parts weren't working for you?
Trooperman said:Just to clarify...Ady's clip IS my clip. The other clip is from an earlier version.
Did you have any notes, lists of work to do and how you might do it? Might be food for someone else.
EyeShotFirst said:I hope ady showcases the space battle and the death star battle for our main attention. All I need to see is the rebels on Endor turning off the shield generator. Then back to the important dark duel. Coz the Endor Forrest battle is a mood killer.
It really does kill the mood.... But the space battle in ROTJ is still IMHO the greatest of all the films. I'm still amazed at how well the ships maneuvered with them being models on wires. Great work.
I think that would be an amazing resource. Now, if only someone would redub all the movies with no music! =)
fishmanlee said:the yoda voice when he says in grave danger you are should be changed to the one in the music video
What does he say in the music video?

I get the feeling I might have gone too far with this one, but the more scenes I go through, the more I realize just how wrong they feel.
Holy shit cakes, that looks great! Maybe you could help with color correction of Troopermans Shroud of the Dark side.
Or anyone's edits for that matter.
