I wish this scene had made the final cut of AOTC, poor Beru only gets to say "Hello" in the whole PT (I think it's beyond restoration):

BERU: What's it like there?

PADMÉ: I'm sorry?

BERU: On Naboo... What's it like?

PADMÉ is completely preoccupied with her concern for ANAKIN, but she does her best to reply.

PADMÉ: Oh - It's... very green. With lots of water. And trees. Not like here at all.

She takes out a tray and starts to put food on it.

BERU: I think I like it here better.

PADMÉ: Maybe you'll come and see it one day.

BERU: I don't think so. I don't like to travel.

They finish preparing the tray.

PADMÉ: (smiles) Thanks, Beru.

It almost sounds catty.

Getting around the background music and sound effects problem is going to be a bit of a bind but it would be interesting to see what you come up with.

Please post examples on that thread too as it might provide inspiration for other editiors.

I don't understand what you mean by getting around the background music and sound effects. The whole point of this is so that we CAN get around the background music and sound effects. The idea is to have every character redubbed ONLY. So that fan editors can start the sound from scratch and use any music cuts or new sound effects they like. Maybe I just misunderstood you, but felt I should clarify.

I'm curious if there is anyone who can do a OT style Yoda voice with PT dialouge? That would be great! :D

I think that would be interesting.. Of course, granted it was the exact same dialogue an in sync with the on screen character.

Right exactly. So you would still have the crappy line "Not if ever to say anything to say about it I have never not!"  j/k  ;)

Haha. Yeah, we need that line verbatim.... I know you're joking, but wow.... It needs to go, but I feel we should leave that for the editor to decide. =)

Yes, though I really liked the voice acting, I can't say the same thing about the microphone quality...

This is obviously not your fault, though! But if mrbenja is planning to redub ALL of the dialogue the quality of the recordings used should be consistent throughout the movie.

The voice test was merely for auditioning purposes only.  I can easily fix the quality of the audio.

And I agree.  The audio quality should be consistent throughout the movie.

That's cool man. I just wanted to make sure.... What does everyone think of G E Predator's take on Watto?

Very close to the original, though I assume he's only being redubbed for dialogue changes? I've never had a problem with Watto in TPM, and I don't know that I've ever heard in mentioned in the many lists of complaints about the prequels.

We are doing this to have a sound effect/music free audio track for faneditors who would like to use alternate music.

i have already finished ROTR and am working on ALR now, ALR will not use anything that has been released from ESB:R or anything from it in the future same as ROTJ now the sabers will be re-rotoscoped myself and some audio things added among some of the other things i will do

So, you are not prepared to remove any footage that you used of ANH:R for ROTR, even though i asked you NOT to use ANH:R when you started this  edit and posted the preview clip on youtube. At that time you stated it was a planned edit and wasn't finished and i asked you then not to use it after seeing what you were doing. Then you decided to delete all my comments on your videos, giving a bad excuse in saying that i was swearing, and in those comments i asked you not to use my work. You also seem to be deleting anyone else's comments in your videos where they have said about you not stating that the video source was ANH:R and that you were trying to pass it off as your own. Please don't try and lie to me again because you aren't cleaver enough to delete your own comments when you replied to these comments by other people.

You have since deleted any comment i made on your videos.

All you have done is hacked up Star Wars with ROTR with no thought put into it so why is it so difficult for you to redo it before you release it but this time using the official DVDs as a source? How long would it take you to redo what you have done already? by the looks of things 10 minutes.

You call it "Star Wars as you'll never wanna/wansta see it again". That is a pure insult to all the work i have done. There was no reason for you to use my edit for something like this.

Seriously, fishmanlee.... Let it go. You've gone way past stupid. Lose the videos? You don't seem to be REALLY taking this seriously. Remove the videos from Youtube.... Guys, I suggest future videos that he posts be ignored until he removes the said videos that Ady mentioned.

Ady, should not have to take time away from ESB:R to deal with this crap.

Thanks.  It's always good to be sure of something.  If you want, I can do a HQ voice dub using the entire scene (minus the Anakin/Padme introduction part of course).

By all means, go for it.

MrBenja0618, do you plan on changing any lines for the movie? Is this a project of your own? Or are you searching for people to do this for Ady's revisited project? If so, does he even know about this yet?

If you do plan on changing the dialogue, wouldn't it be appropriate to first rewrite the screenplay and see what amount of changes can be made? Since dialogue is the essential part of the story, nearly everything in the movie can be changed, right? Not everything of course, (to remain lip sync) but quite a lot of irritatingly bad dialogue can be polished.

I really like the idea of doing this, but if you are just trying to gather people to do this for the Revisited versions of the prequels (which are as Ady said many years away) I'm afraid that people that might be availible now might not be availible then and this might create some problems if you're beginning to early with this without Ady's knowledge.

I'm not trying to be negative about this project! I'm just saying that before you can find people who actually want to do this you might want to make some plans first. I saw your thread at the voice acting alliance boards and I saw that someone asked where to send the lines, etc... I think this confusion was created because you didn't add too many details in the first post.

We're all Star Wars fans here. And although most of us dislike the prequels we all know what Jar Jar sounds like and we can quote a few of his lines, even if only to mock him. But there, some people might own the prequels and would probably loose interest due to the lack of information. You said you wanted to redub the prequels, but readers of the forum topic might think you're just going to redub the exact same lines from the original, which in their eyes (and many others) would be unnecessary work.

Again, I'm only trying to provide constructive criticism. I suggest you take some time to think about what you want to achieve, how you want to do it,... make a plan! And then put the word out that you're searching for people to improve these movies.

People will only be interested in this if they can see that this has been thought out. If you just say: "Let's redub the prequels!" Without giving how to do it any thought and with assuming that possible candidates will exactly know what to do without you telling them, unfortunately this won't work. This is not your fault! Not at all! Your intentions are noble :p It's just that on a Star Wars board like this, this is recieved as a really good idea! On other boards people will just say: "Redub the first three Star Wars movies? Why?"

Again, I really admire what you did and do. I just wanted you to know what I think is lacking from this proposition of yours and I hope that my criticism will be helpful to you.

Well, I didn't begin this thread, but I did like what was happening and wanted to get the ball running. I always felt like this was a group effort. The goal is to have a music and sound effects free audio track of the prequels. Anyone who has done a Star Wars edit knows the pain of trying to separate the music from the rest of the audio. Some dvd's soundtracks are possible, but SW has been impossible. Some have tried to remedy this by simply overlaying new music with the exisiting usually resulting in loud music and hard to hear dialogue. Many have shown interest in using different music cues, and it's just simply not completely possible unless there is no music in a scene to begin with... This complete word for word redub would allow editors to have this freedom. It would just be an amazing resource to have available.

Now as far as know how.... I would hope that those willing to redub characters would know how to do this in a high quality fashion. But perhaps I was wrong. Does anyone think we need to give step by step instructions on how to redub the audio?

Any takers yet? C'mon guys. Should we take this request to other boards?

That's actually a great idea. I'm not sure which boards but I am sure there has to be some aspiring voices actors out there who would jump at a chance to put something like this on their resume. Ex: "Yeah, did you ever download AOTC:Revisted? I performed Jango Fetts new voice!"  ;)

And I have not heard that. Do you have a link?
