One thing to point out: a purple (JasonN) or yellow (MagnoliaFan) blade is much easier to pull off than a green one, because any remnants of red will stand out a lot more if you try to make it green, red being the opposite of green but a component of purple and yellow. Myself, I'd go for yellow, but that may simply be because I saw MF's edit first.

I also think it would be interesting to see a much greater range of colours for the Jedi, rather than uniform blue and green — have each sabre a slightly different shade of blue or green, maybe even ranging from purple at one end to yellow at the other. Of course, this would be very difficult and time-consuming for any editor. It depends on whether we want to paint the Jedi as individualistic and free (in which case the more variation the better), or dogmatic and ordered (in which case the less the better).

Yeah, green has been very, very hard to pull off... But very worth it. What saved me, is I was able to stray away from a linear dodge in after effects as that's how i usually do lightsabers...because it reacts to other light naturally... But since it was a dark room, I could pull off just a standard overlay. Of course when the sabers connected I had to redo the other saber in a linear dodge so it would look right again, but anyway... The lack of light in the scene was my saving grace in that sequence. If it had it been bright, it most likely would not have worked at all.

Dooku as a rogue Jedi.

Y'know, I hadn't thought of it before, but though most people don't like Mace's purple lightsaber, it would kinda make sense for a "rogue Jedi." Part Jedi (blue saber) + Sith-like tendencies (red saber) = "rogue Jedi" (red + blue = purple)

:p

I liked JasonN's purple saber.... I mean, any change from red was a good one to me, I guess I just like the green saber more personally. Maybe I guess because Dooku really does remind me of Qui-Gon... He just acts a lot like him, and it actually made since that Qui-Gon was his Padawan... And perhaps Dooku reminds him of Qui-Gon as well, and having a saber like his old master could add salt to the wound.... But really, I just like the green saber..... Just like I like my green eggs and ham.

Lots of syllables in there.

Hahaha :) Well sometimes that can be a good thing, and it can also be a rather annoying thing. I did get an 'A' in English Literature and Language, but sometimes I can be too lazy to observe what I've written or typed :)

I'm writing a novel btw; it's something along the lines of Fight Club or American Psycho (with Transgressional characters) - but totally different at the same time. :D

I'm making an animated feature with talking animals..... Only it will be live action and no animals will actually be present.

I kid, I kid.

I'd actually be very interested in your book. How long have you been plugging away at it?

You should do stand-up my man :)

Anyway I started it 2 years ago when I was 17; and I still have a long way to go. I've done over 200 pages now and about 160 pages consist of completed chapters and I still have plotlines that need to be added in and finalised. It doesn't have a title as of yet and has actually evolved into something that I'd call short-stories (as seperate chapters) merged into one overall story. It's a morality tale as well as a transgressional novel - a nice dichotomy.

I really want to see it finished one day.

Sounds really interesting. Truly wouldn't mind giving it a read.

Extra points for using dichotomy in a sentence. =)

The problem now is the nature of his dialogue, if he is truly trying to save the galaxy from a Sith Lord he would be trying to justify his Alliance to defuse the situation.

I don't know if some of the exposition from the earlier scene where Obi-Wan has been captured could be moved here so he doesn't seem like he's bitching for a fight.

Constructing a line like "I was not deceiving you, the Republic is under Sith control, The Alliance is the only hope of restoring peace" may not be possible but with the huge number of Christopher Lee films to pull from it might be possible to assemble something similar.

Well, honestly we know why their fighting, the rest is just trash talk. The chatter in the fight could be cut and that should do it.

how did you do it tell me your SECRET!!!!

but seriously that looks good

green looks good on dooku

infact i remember a long time suggesting that all jedi have blue saber so dooku's green one differs from their's so when we later see luke again with a green lightsaber.....

I did it in AE, and it took lots and lots of time.... Well worth it though.  The green looks good to me.

Having R2 and Chewie speak a language that another character understands is fine because we get the jist of the whole conversation from the reaction of the others who do understand them.

To go down the Magnoliafan route is another story because we have no filler in character letting us know what the Trade Federation and Gungan guys are saying and to splash subtitles over an action film is problematic (for these eyes anyway).

I did the whole subtitles thing when tinkering with TPM on my own, and honestly, it's not that distracting. 9 times out if 10, when they get chatty, they standing, sitting, or walking... Not usually during action scenes. It really worked for me, and I really think things will truly get problematic when trying to redub lines, and then trying to mess with the score that's in the movie. It's really going to be a mess in my opinion.
