Star Wars Redemption: Episode 1 (Rendering final cut!) (* lost project *)
Time

Substitutions of music... Hearing about that a lot lately from Renascent camp. Did he succeed in replacing music or does he simply overlay?

From my experience, at the moment it seems impossible to do this without making it sound horrifyingly bad.

I tried, ID and TJ tried... It's just a suck position to be in.

Now, I have thought about the Renascent edit/Reborn edit when thinking about mine and I plan to show a few what the best version came out like. But based on some advice from TMBTM, I think the first half isn't too bad, and I did make some major edit changes in ANH.

Again, hopefully some will see this.

I'll see what I can do with that. Actually working on a 7th draft and already hate it... But I may be willing to show the last draft. Even with the technical mistakes that I intended to fix it was still the closest to being what I would have released. Might be tomorrow or next week as I the DVD of that cut is not in arms reach.

In the meantime, here is a question... Most everyone knows the general idea. It's a return to a trilogy with prequel footage serving as flashback material.

Think about A New Hope right now and give me your opinion... At what points in ANH do you believe the flashbacks should occur and WHAT scenes would you use?

Alrighty. I guess I'll resurrect this topic to explain myself. I've said this (sorta) in another thread, but it belongs here.....So, here it goes.....

I did finish Episode 1 of Redemption........ In fact, 6 different versions of Redemption only to find that I'm not satisfied. I refuse to release something if I can't stand to watch it.

I just couldn't come up with a watchable version. And in light of the recent redlettermedia review of AOTC, it actually makes it worse, because he really illuminated even more glaringly awful issues that I wonder if "redemption" is possible.

I say that to say this. I'm challenging someone on here to give me a good strong reason and road map to make this edit work. I'm looking for ideas.

So, please give me a reason to continue. Let's talk it out, and maybe I'll take this baby back under the knife if inspiration hits me again.

Look at what Mr. Plinkett did!

Listen, I'm pretty bitter too about the prequels, and I have my reasons for my comments earlier. One of those being that I have worked on about 6 different cuts of Star Wars Redemption: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-Redemption-Trilogy/topic/10028/page/1/

I kept it quiet because everytime I finished a new cut, I'd give it a week, view it, and hate it....

If i recall Infodroid said that he and TJdavis could not get the audio mix to where they wanted it... Well, my issue was, the prequels do not blend well at all with the OT. Everytime I watched a cut, I would always run into an issue when we transitioned between OT and PT... I could never make it feel like the two belonged. Hope that makes sense.

While trying to get this edit right, I've really become abundantly aware of the inconsistencies.

It was like I was trying to splice Blade Runner with the Care Bears movie.

Anyway. I don't mean to derail prequel fanedits in the least. I really want someone to succeed in redeeming them.

To bring these films up to the level of ROTJ alone would take a lot more than just editing and that's really what this thread is all about.

My point exactly. We need a rich guy who can fund my prequel reshoot. GO FIND HIM!

If only we had the original theatrical versions in decent quality, I could forget about the prequels and watch the good ones. There isn't a good reason why the prequels should exist anyway, aside from Georges need to make Star Wars, "Episode IV A New Hope".

You know, maybe that is the easiest most effective fan edit. Changing the number 4 to number 1 on A New Hope and so on... Then we don't have to worry about those pesky prequels. But, again, I'd love to see someone take another stab at it. And I'm still interested in what Ady has planned.

Ady, do you have any concrete plans that you can share? I recall you saying that they will be completely different movies once you get done with them.

Yeah, I saw the review too... It was VERY bittersweet. I knew AOTC was bad, but now I fully realize it's horrifying contents.

There was so much bad brought to light that I'm starting to feel fan editing alone can't save this turd.

Honestly, probably our ONLY hope is that when Lucas kicks the bucket that some new director is able to step in and re-make the entire prequel trilogy.

Yep.... Back to the animated prequel thread! =/
