The excuses that have to be made to make the "SAGA" work have always bugged me. Worst one to me is why the hell does Obi Wan have to be such a lying a-hole to Luke about his dad. But anyway...

Trying to play along with the way things are in the movies, it doesn't make my head explode to imagine that Death Star II is completed much quicker than version I. Prototypes are often held up by (among many things) the building of tools that need to be invented to actually build the prototype. Once one is built, however, all these things are worked out and building a second is often twice as easy --or easier. (It is also possible that DS II was being built all along-- if one Death Star is enough to rule the galaxy, then Sidious might likely think that two is twice as good).

So if we look at the real world and see how long prototypes can take compared with production models, then the long development of Maul/Grevious may actually be useful to the Saga. After all, how did Sidious become such a masterful cyborg-maker as to rebuild Anakin in what seems like a few hours? Maybe he had years of practice developing General Grevious.

Just thoughts-- I wouldn't put any of these explanations into the movies. They're more like the kind of stuff that should make sense "when you think about it". The whole Saga really works better for me when I let it remain just a little out of focus.

All good points.. But yeah, I'm afraid that you're right about your last statement, we shouldn't have to think about it to figure it out...

For example... What the heck was the force fields for during the TPM lightsaber fight... I'm sure someone read the novel and can tell me, but if you watch the film, it's like, "What is that?"

Nothing about this will be easy I'm afraid......

I'm trying to figure out how to make this work, but also work in a storytelling sense... And hopefully meet Trooperman's approval...

But, I won't show off anything until I think it looks ok.

New thought....  I thought I read someone say that they thought it would be interesting if Maul were to fall into something energy-based.... something hot.

What if Maul was scorched? Much like Anakin would be later.... What if we took small snipits of Anakin being constructed into vader, and give the guys some charred horns... His tattoo would be burned off, we could be more subtle about it I think... Motion tracking horns may not be too difficult... And then maybe we could give Grevious Maul's voice... General Grevious to me was supposed to be a precursor to Vader anyway, why would it be so hard to have it look similar.. We could change the mood with some mild color correction..... This may be stupid, because I'm not sure a scene like this even belongs in ep. 2...  Thoughts?

Has anyone thought of making an alternate prequel trilogy out of the Clone Wars Cartoons ? (edit some episodes together, mix scenes up... remove the less good stuff) They remind me of the OT more than the prequel movies do! (plus the stories, dialogue and battles are better!) and im not bothered about not seeing Anakin become darth vader... would just be some cool animated action movies.

Edit: Its not that necessary to show Anakin's journey to the darkside - most of us here saw episodes 4 - 6 first anyway and we got by just fine without knowing the details of how Anakin became Darth Vader.

As a decent story about Anakin's fall doesnt exist - why not just try and get by without it?

Just my point of view! :P

You are very right about that show.... Kinda hated the movie, but the show got better. I love the Anakin in the show. I can completely believe that this guy can become Vader.

And no, we haven't seen signs of a descent, but maybe we will. The show isn't over yet.

The idea is good, but the voice is too low / deep.  Protocol droids tend to have softer voices.

I don't know... I mean, yeah by design it probably shouldn't sound like that... But when you look at this droid and the way it looks like it was put together with chewing gum...  I can accept it has a rigged up voice... I can believe he's become a Mr. Potato Head of sorts at this point in the game.

It's good to see all the old faces again!

I have to say, I REALLY like the idea of replacing Sifo Dias with Qui Gon. If there's any way to pull this off, I think we should do it - even if it comes to new dialog for lama su.

This way, the scene with Dooku interrogating Obi Wan becomes much more meaningful. We start to doubt if we knew the real Qui Gon, and we will wonder if he ordered the clones. Only at the very end, when we see that Dooku is a Sith, can we assume that Dooku posed as his former master to place the clone order.

Good point....

Only, not sure you could just assume with this. I like the overall idea if there was someway for there to be a payoff. I like the idea of wondering if Qui-Gon was something darker....But there has to be some form of resolution. Some reveal of Qui-Gon's true character.

Something that bothered me (one of very, *very* few things, mind you), is the whole "Jedi Master Si-dyas(or whatever)"...now, I understand the inherent problem of "Sifo-dyas", but in this case, are we meant to take that there literally was a Master Sidious? Was he *the* Sidious posing as a Jedi? Obi-wan's line suggesting past knowledge of this person keeps this bugging me....If it's meant simply to be a Jedi with a name similar to the Sith's, it seems not to be an improvement over 'Sifo Dyas'...a completely different-sounding name may be better...or perhaps (more like, almost certainly) I'm missing the point...

I think the name should of been Qui Gon. Dooku poses as his own apprentice.

INTERIOR: TIPOCA CITY, PRIME MINISTER OFFICE - DAY

The door slides open. OBI-WAN and TAUN WE enter and cross
to where LAMA SU rises, smiling, from his chair, which,
like all the furniture on Kamino, seems made out of pure
light.

TAUN WE: May I present Lama Su, Prime Minister of Kamino...
and this is Master Jedi...

OBI-WAN: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

LAMA SU indicates a chair. OBI-WAN remains standing. TAUN
WE hovers. The room is bathed in brilliant white light. The
whole place is ultra high-tech.

LAMA SU: I trust you are going to enjoy your stay. We are
most happy you have arrived at the best part of the season.

OBI-WAN: You make me feel most welcome.

LAMA SU: Please... (gestures to chair) And now to business.
You will be delighted to hear we are on schedule. Two
hundred thousand units are ready, with another million well
on the way.

OBI-WAN: (improvising) That is... good news.

LAMA SU: Please tell your Master Jinn that we have
every confidence his order will be met on time and in full.
He is well, I hope.

OBI-WAN: I'm sorry? Master - ?

LAMA SU: Jedi Master Qui Gon Jinn. He's still a leading member
of the Jedi Council, is he not?

OBI-WAN: Master Sifo-Dyas was killed almost ten years ago.

LAMA SU: Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. But I'm sure he
would have been proud of the army we've built for him.

OBI-WAN: The army?

LAMA SU: Yes, a clone army. And, I must say, one of the
finest we've ever created.

OBI-WAN: Tell me, Prime Minister, when my Master first
contacted you about the army, did he say who it was for?

LAMA SU: Of course he did. This army is for the Republic.
But you must be anxious to inspect the units for yourself.

OBI-WAN: That's why I'm here.

OBI-WAN and LAMA SU rise and walk toward the door.

This brings up questions, was Qui Gon behind it? Why would Qui Gon order an army? Did Qui Gon want to train Anakin for good, or for bad? I think it adds so much more.

To me this is interesting in the same way that Dooku could have been a rogue Jedi... Only problem is, with both of these ideas there is no payoff. If somehow we could create a payoff, I'd be on board.

Wow! I'm gone for a few days and look what happens! :D

Very exciting news here, Trooperman! I might throw an idea or two your way here and there. It's funny because as soon as I logged on I started uploading this:

I know you've adjusted this scene in your edit but I thought I'd show this to you and see what you think.  :)

That was pretty good! It doesn't sound as awkward.
