Is there a place we can read about Possessed's edit?
Is there a place we can read about Possessed's edit?
Well, I'm making that shot available to anyone who wants to use it... Also working on removing him from tattooine.... If that's even possible... I know I can probably remove him from the funeral.

Doesn't the movie end with the wedding? I haven't seen it since in a few years.
Yes, that's the ending.

Hi Ben,
Removing 3PO altogether after the funeral is interesting, but I think that for now it'd be great just to cut 3PO from the wedding. The other stuff works as-is. Still can't believe you did this...it looks great!
Would you like me to send this shot to you so you can just drop into your timeline? I actually have two where 3p0 is removed.

Look closer... R2 is the only static character. Oh and it's not my shot... I didn't shoot it. If the rest of it is too static, call David Tattersall.
Glad you think it's awesome though.

Sure, but there's really only two parts where the music needed to be changed, and that approached worked for me. Your mileage may vary.
But a little fade-in/out at the edges of the dialogue, with an extra layer of music can do a lot. (Case in point, mash-up DJs rarely work with perfectly clean samples.)
Oh yeah, I hear ya... And I agree.... But when you made that statement, I had a glimmer of hope for bigger things. I'm glad it's working for your project.

I love the shot too, Mrbenja!
If only we could eliminate all the 3p0 shots after the funeral-- then we could redub the protocol droid's voice and make it into some other droid.
Can you imagine?
Then eliminate baby Boba and make Jango into Boba... It's a slippery slope.
But simply not having 3p0 at the wedding is a big positive step all on its own. It makes the 3p0/R2 relationship a growing thing instead of a done-deal as it's presented in the PT. They aren't instantly joined at the hip, that comes later (in epIII, I guess).
Do want 3p0 in any of the shots.... I'm pretty sure I can remove him from the funeral... I think.... I know I tried to remove him in the shot on geonosis when he and R2 are leaving the ship, but there were too many moving elements in the shot, such as smoke....
Trooperman, tell me what would be ideal, and I'll go from there...
So, actually nothing new. And I think you'll find (if not already) that it's more than just bleed through in the central channel, that sometimes it's being blasted into the channel.
Yes.... Should also note that I had to motion track this shot in reverse, so this is actually playing backwards because I forgot to change that... So, if anyone needs this shot, I'll be sure to re-reverse it. =)

Not sure if this is useful... But it's something I was working on for someone else...

No, that's been moved into its own forum. It's certainly not dead.
Where is this forum? Link please?

One major difference is that I've isolated the dialogue from the score, so I was able to chop and rearrange the Endor scenes without it be too jarring.
Am I the only one who noticed this? How did you do this?
The only way it threw me was because it was new.... A second watching showed me there was truly nothing jarring about it. I think a lot of that is because it's so embedded in our minds... A new viewer would not find it jarring in my opinion.
Hey Brash... Just wanted to let you know.... I did it. ;)
I think it works either way... Marcus does sound like a Star Wars name... It was never jarring to me on the workprint.
I'd love it too... But if you scroll down you'll see a dead animated prequels thread... =/
Have you been given any lines to record?
I agree with that. That was spoiled pretty quickly in the trilogy. They didn't work very hard to mask that detail.
Sluggo... You're working on Dooku?

Is it really that simple, though, I wonder to myself. Because I saw it 4 times and enjoyed it every time... and yet.
What I liked most was that it clearly turned the SAGA into 6 films about Darth Vader. I'm one of those guys who pretty much hates ROTJ as a betrayal of everything the first two Star Wars movies got right. To me, that whole new direction Darth Vader took in ROTJ was one of the biggest disappointments in movie history. So to me, TPM was a step in the right direction and it kind of made ROTJ better because it gave this total lame ass "It's too late for me"-Darth Vader character named "Anakin" some background.
But TPM was riddled through with problems. ...Then someone created "The PHantom Edit"... Then I realized the genius of the PT was to give us fans a bunch of half-completed films so that we could have the adult pleasure of "playing Star Wars" by creating fan-edits! It's the grown-up equivalent for the fun I had with Star Wars figures as a kid.
Thank you, George Lucas, for half-assing the PT. Where would we be if you had done it better?
I agree, I enjoy fanediting, but I don't believe people should make mediocre films to satisfy our need change things.
Ideally, I would rather have the films done right in the first place so I can appreciate and enjoy them now. And TPM was a mess. I understand what you mean by backstory making ROTJ stronger, but the backstory is just riddled with back direction, and no emotion. I personally believe that if TPM had truly been the first Star Wars film, we wouldn't even be here.
Yes, fanediting is fun, but we are left with nearly impossible problems, like making Jar-Jar make sense, and dealing with badly keyed elements in AOTC. (Seriously, it was horrible.)
Of course, this is all my simple opinion, and I realize that art affects people in different ways, and that's the great part about it... But honestly, I do prefer that George put his heart into this like he did when he was younger.
Besides, The Empire Strikes back to me is a perfect movie, but yet, Adywan is making it even stronger.... Lucas could have given us the right movies and I don't think it would have killed SW fanediting. =) No disrespect though, MTHaslett.
Now, i'll stop hijacking the thread. How's it coming, TM?

Snips (Ahsoka) drove me crazy at first.... She's less annoying to me now for some reason, but I still don't know why they gave him an apprentice.
It's called "marketability".
i.e., getting young girls interested in the SW franchise by introducing a character into the story in which they can identify with and project themselves as in a form of wish fufillment....
.... thereby fulfilling Lucasfilms' hope of giving millions of young male nerds the opportunity of finding a future soul-mate, who would then give birth to more nerd babies, and creating more nerd consumers to spend more money to buy more SW media, all in the glorious name of transforming George Lucas into a true living God Emperor.
.... or so I've heard. -_^
Is that what that is??? Hmmm.... Is that why Lucas made Anakin a girl?
Gotcha.... I understand. I watched it several times myself... Trying....to.....understand.........what.......went.........wrong.
I used to be a news videographer, and I'd always get sent out to shoot car accidents... I recall always seeing traffic backed up around these incidents... Not because of the wreck, but because everyone would slow down to look.... Much like this film..... It's the kind of bad you can't take your eyes off of.

Thanks Sluggo. I take it, you just gave it a look?
Sorry. Watched what?
Sorry it was a bit late in the game, but I was referencing you talking about seeing Maul fall into the pit. Thought you may have just watched to scene.
