Idea: Radically altering the Prequel Trilogy storyline one film at a time
Time

I'm trying to digest it all. I agree, this is a better story overall, and I admit this is probably the way Lucas should have approached it. But I'm afraid that maybe David Blaine and Criss Angel are too busy to help on this?

Seriously, I'm just joking. I just can't figure out how to execute these ideas personally. I would LOVE to be proven wrong however.

.... but where is this youtube video you're referring to?

Here

I tried to make my own edit of your audio DF Shadow, but couldn't get it to sound right.....so I used the audio from film to where R2 beeps then cut to your "I wanted you to have this when you were old enough" then cut back to video soundtrack.

You did a grand job DF

J

Thanks. I may be able to do something with that!

^^ Ah, gotcha.

Jae I have a personal request which maybe you can accommodate.

I made this edit of Obi-Wan telling Luke "I wanted you to have this" instead of "your father wanted you to have this" and was wondering if you could pop it over that clip to see how it works?

http://www.zshare.net/audio/9330572530c4775f/

The timing hasn't' been changed so it should be okay. Plus, miraculously Obi-Wan is turned around at that exact moment so this should fit.

Wouldn't mind snagging that for my edit either.

It ties up the PT plothole but personally I would prefer to solve that in the PT by having Anakin leave his saber with Padme for the child (after using it on Mace) and Vader using a red blade given to him by the Emperor.

ok, this sort of follows a point made in the ANH thread.

it was discussed ages ago, that anakin goes to visit padme after he finds out about palpatines real identity. if this was moved to after he tells mace, and used as an alternternative to the ruminations scene, could he leave his lightsaber here with her?

enstead of "obi wan has been here hasn't he", it could be "the chancellor has been here hasn't he". padme's expression of blissful ignorance when she says "he's been worried about you" could enforce anakin's burden.

the lightsaber he uses to kill mace could be palpatine's, which could have fallen on the floor during the fight (enstead of flying out the window). it may suggest then that he uses this lightsaber from now on.

This is an interesting take. You would have to also have some shot to show that Anakin has picked up the dropped saber. Otherwise it would be a bit confusing I think.

Mr. Benja, I just want you to know that I have no editing skills and therefore can provide little in the way of help with that.  However, I know that you are working hard and that it can be hard to continue with a project when there is not a bunch of commenting going on.  For what it's worth, you have my support and I hope you get through this as quickly as you are able se we can enjoy the many hours you've invested.  This is of course not a nag to hurry up (those things are rude, I feel), but merely just an expression of my excitement over your project.  Keep up the good fight!

I really appreciate it. I was also one of those who really wanted to see the Reborn project happen.

I'm doing this because I want to see this. It's been a long 2 years (I think only 2), but I think I finally have something that works. It's nothing that Reborn would have been. But I will say that I do talk to Infodroid, and I have shared a lot of the bigger ideas about this edit. So in a way his hand is very much on this. I wish I also had contact with TJDavis, but I don't. I hope he would be pleased with what will be done as ultimate credit should go to the two of them. I'm definitely standing on their shoulders.

When this is done, so many others should get credit. A lot of the ideas in this edit are mine, but there are a few that were discussed in the radical prequel thread, and some of Trooperman's ideas from SOTDS has found it's way into this edit. Very specific ideas I might add that he did say was fine if I used them.

So, while some edits I will do will be solely what I would like to see, a lot of this really is a combination of what I feel have been the best ideas on this forum. I hope it all works out.

Thanks for your comments. I hope it's completed sooner than later as well. =)

Done and done.

Somehow I missed this clip. at 7:00.. If the dialogue had gone like that in the real film, I actually think it would have been a legitimately funny moment. I miss the verbal sparring of the OT. Nice.

I agree that the PT really missed some of the back-and-forth of the OT.

I think there could also be some use for the idea that the battle droids talk in code (Lobot-speak, in my edit) and are subtitled.

Also very true. Fortunately, my edit will avoid most of that anyway... Well, maybe not. I've managed to remove most of the droid chatter in my edit. Come to think of it, I can only think of 2 droids in the classic movies that spoke. 3P0 and that droid in Jabba's palace.

Ok I'll consider it...But does anyone have an example of what it could sound like?

Hmmm. I made a pretty cool saber ignition sound a while back. I'll see if I can find it.

edit: Found it!!

I really like that. I may use it if that's ok.

Why white? It doesnt mean anything?

Careful around the red edges because you lose color from the background.

I hope you can come up with a new saber ignition saber because the good/evil ones cant match with a white one i assume..

-Angel

It doesn't mean anything because you've never seen it before. The point was to create ambiguity. If there are question marks, then I've succeeded.

What do you mean they can't match? Just don't understand what you mean there.

As you know I'm all for pushing the boat out when it comes to radical ideas but short of making this a total remake how do you intend to replace every shot and reference to the Death Star with Coruscant?

And how would that even make sense?

Coruscant isn't a weapon, it's a planet.

You need the threat element to get the Rebels out of hiding.

If you had the Rebels just growing an enormous pair and marching right into the capital without them having gained some new advantage or have some sort of final threat dangling over them it screeches the question, why didn't they do it earlier?

You could have the Empire planning on blowing up Coruscant using a Death Star type plot device (possibly hidden on or built into the forest moon) hoping to blame the Rebels.

The Rebels could get wind of the plan and come to the rescue only to be caught in a trap.

You still wouldn't see much of Coruscant.

The easiest way to accomplish it would be to have the DS2 and Coruscant.

The idea is that Endor is the sanctuary moon of Coruscant. The Empire is now building another DS in the heart of the Empire to solidify its stranglehold on the galaxy.

It's not secretly building it at all. It's right in public.

Fear. Fear will keep the people in line.

The rebellion needs to destroy this station before its completed otherwise their covert support will flatline.

It's a huge gamble by the alliance. To go right into the heart of the empire to destroy the new station. But they don't have a choice. To sit back and wait until its finished would be an enormous setback the rebellion might never recover from.

So it's almost a dare by the Emperor. I dare you rebellion to come into my lair and try and destroy it.

But to not do so would mean certain defeat for the rebellion in time.

So it's almost a desperate gamble by the rebellion.

They're still beat up and licking their wounds from being hammered during ESB.

But they have no choice.

So the rebels "secretly" go to Endor, moon of Coruscant, to start their plan.

The film opens with Vader traveling to Coruscant to converse with the Emperor.

I would move all the Emperor's throne room scenes to Coruscant. So I would never have him leave that room. So the only view of Coruscant would be a few shots of Vader's shuttle flying overhead and landing to adding distant city lights out the Emperor's window.

Not a cityscape mind you because his tower would reach into the upper atmosphere. it would tower over all.

That would also keep the digital work to a minimum as it would be merely distant city lights.

One of the best ideas I've heard in awhile. If no one beats me to it; I may attempt this in my ROTJ: Redemption edit.
