I'm hearing you... But not sure how to make that one happen.
I'm hearing you... But not sure how to make that one happen.
I don't disagree with this. In fact it's crossed my mind. The only issue is that Grievous will not be in this first episode. So I may be able to set it up so you're continually changing your mind on who this mysterious Darth Vader is.
Oh, and here is the test shot that I'm referring to for those who have yet to see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_On2GFOuIc
Need some feedback. I'm trying to decide if the white lightsaber is right for my edit. I love the look and want to do it. But now I'm considering it may disrupt some of my ideas. Really the idea is something for SW newbies, so I won't be spoiling anything since we all know who Vader is here.
I'm trying to make it look like Dooku could be Vader. I altered a line where Obi-Wan says a YOUNG Jedi named Darth Vader, and was able to drop the young part. Now, of course Dooku isn't Vader, but I think I want that idea to be pondered at least in this first episode. I mean, Dooku and Vader have similar fighting styles, and they talk a lot alike too. Do you think that newcomers may think that as well? And if so, do you think I should leave the saber red to push that "whodunit" idea further?
That's a great idea... Something I may try. Just not interested in recording my own voice. EGAD!
As Dana Carvey said as Ross Perot, "You can't pee in a Mr. Coffee and get Taster's Choice!"
For some reason "reply with quote" isn't working for me.
A-man, you mentioned removing Kamino... Bravo. I did the same. Fixes a lot of issues. The most powerful edit you can make within the Ep. 2 structure in my opinion. But like I said, almost impossible to do in a standalone AOTC edit if you want it to be in standard full length film format.
Thanks Frink.

I threw up in my mouth a little bit...
I've watched a bit of it at lunch today.
My thoughts so far:
Liked the darker 20th logo, and I thought the opening prologue worked for what you wanted it to do. It was a bit overly political but that's more or less the prequels fault. It's hard to not be political given the source material.
I noticed in the Coruscant descent sequence your audio had abrupt changes that really pulled me out of the film. I think it was due to you overlapping new music over old, and having to jack up the audio levels for the new music, and then going back and forth between old and new. It was a bit jarring. I agree new music is needed in that scene because the original music in that scene usually makes me sleepy. I really hate the whole scene period.. But again, not your fault. It's just dull, and I hate the "I guess there was no danger after all" followed by 'SPLOSION! Always thought it was stupid.
My biggest problem with your cuts are that personally I feel there weren't enough. The Ep. 2 film is a mess, and (i'm sorry to compare) for me doing this style edit was very liberating because I cut as much out of Ep. 2 that I wanted with runtime not being affected as it would working on a standalone film.
I got as far the first real transition in time so to speak... Where it goes from the Lars home to the elevator scene in AOTC. I'm not sure why, but the wipe does very little for me. For some reason it's abrupt. Maybe it's because by this time I've spent so much time in ANH that I need to know that I've traveled back in time somehow. Not sure why it bothers me.
But yeah, so far my biggest gripe is not cutting more of Ep. 2 really. But that's a subjective critique, and not something to take seriously if you're happy with the end result.
The quality of the mp4 was remarkable.. (I watched it on an HD set)
What I really loved so far was the new music for the Jawas when the kidnapped R2. It gives it an alternative view. I always saw that as somewhat of a whimsical scene because of the music laid down by John Williams. Your music gives them a malicious spirit. It's interesting, and a fresh new take.
Again, don't take any of what I say too personally. It's my opinion. Nothing more. I applaud your efforts, because I know how daunting this style edit is. Glad you see the finish line. I hope to see mine too.
I'll finish it soon, and give you some more feedback!
I will review this if you like. (Plan on watching it tonight.) But I'm afraid I might be the wrong person to review this considering that we're working on a similar idea. I will if you want, however.
I'm also interested in seeing if he can block my 3G connection.
The Samuel L. did inspire me there.
I like it a lot.
I have a new edit in the Star Wars section... See if you can spot it. =)

Welcome to the club. IT'S FUN! =)
Hope you get this uploaded, A-man. Interested in seeing this if you feel like passing me your links. I'll repay the favor when mine goes up. =)
And why go on a Star Trek or Doctor Who forum period? ;)
Has there been a LAST series? Or do you just mean last season?
Of course he may have found a home at digital-fanedits.... Home of the "It's my toy, and I'm taking it home!" club.
I could never find it on facebook.

I like it... I also think it's hilarious that Qui-Gon's actually holding a ladies razor.
Agreed. You can call it the fourth movie, but you can't get past the fact that it's called Episode I. And new SW viewers if they had any sense wouldn't get past the first film, because it's so screwed over.... It doesn't explain certain things well enough and over explains the things that we should get just by watching the film with our eyes open.
I would like to see them myself... Hal, are you still on this forum?
To me 720p is very acceptable.
