Ok, I'll throw my hat in the ring. As I've said in another thread, I am what you would call a Christian. I currently attend a Baptist church and currently am the active youth minister. I don't really claim any denomination, but I'm here for the time. Don't really care much about denominations anyway. To me it's the division of the church.

Another thought I've had as of late. The word: Christian. I've almost decided to retire it for me as it has been mistreated so much that it's hardly distinguishable to what it actually is supposed to be.

For example, this other thread was hijacked by this specific individuals so-called Christian beliefs... Well, say someone entered the forum with no prior knowledge of what a Christian is.... Well, this individuals hatred becomes the picture of Christ for that person, and that is what gets me.

Lately, I call myself a believer... Follower of the Way if you will. Either the true Christians need a name change, or we need to reclaim it.

Would love to talk to anyone about my beliefs.

ONE ? How do you do a color correction for the movies? you can tell me when you get a chance to.for the Computer and a TV.thank you.

Pat, to help you out a bit more there are hundreds of video based tutorials out there to find. You just need to dive in and learn. What are you editing on? Most people here would recommend Vegas and Adobe After Effects. But I would just google: Color Correction for whatever editor your using. Normally you will yield results. Hope this helps.

And on a "back on topic" note.... Had a dream last night I thought was real. Ady has released Ep. V: Revisited way earlier than planned.... It was great... Until I woke up. DRAT! ;)

Hope things are going well for you, Ady.

Audio and video. The trick is to make it a private video, not public. We'll be able to see when you post the link, but nothing else should happen.
FYI, don't make it private - make it unlisted (only those with the link can see it).

You can also try vimeo if youtube is causing trouble.

Vimeo is the best site to me. A bit slower with the upload, but still far greater quality overall.

Darth Maul returns!
Time

I'm excited about Maul coming back. I mean first off, it was the first of GREAT prequel villian names... Maul, Sidious, Greivous, Tyrannus, And now SAVAGE OPRESS! It was clever to leave the second P out so we wouldn't think he meant oppress... Very clever..... I'm now waiting for Darth Badguuyin, and Lord Bellllla Legosin. =/

The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread

Really, it's just bad writing. That's why it doesn't work. The whole forbidden love aspect could have worked if they cited reason for why it was forbidden. They can't claim the lack of possessions thing, because how could any sane person claim their spouse as a "possession"...  Now, I suggested to a friend that it would be interesting that their love was wrong for more moral reasons. What if you remove the wedding, and they are a couple outside the confines of marriage. That sounds like something that would be wrong in a Jedi code book.... And then when she gets pregnant, it heightens things.

someone not so long ago suggested cutting the obi-wan/vader duel from ANH, so we just see the beginning and the climax. a fair point if we consider that in a I-VI running order, duels may at this point become somewhat tiresome.

this got me thinking, has anyone ever considered completely cutting the palp/windu duel out in the same fashion? we see them exchange words, then we follow anakin rushing to the scene, then enstead of expecting a civilised arrest going on, the entire suete has been trashed and there is a jedi about to assassinate the chancellor. could create some much needed empathy to anakin and some ambiguity to the events. and would eliminate the whole lightsabre too.

some additional still shots could be inserted of the other jedi dead in various places with smoke rising from them, later suggeting they were just zapped to death.

I had a similar thought not too long ago. I think having the scene focus only on Anakin would create much more suspense.

I agree, it sounds like a better idea, but I'm sure it would require some additional footage to provide enough information to understand Anakin's POV when he enters the room. See the Jedi laid all over the floor in the main room where Mace has his saber trained at Palpatine's neck. It would be even cooler if while you had a shot of anakin's face taking the scene in you could hear Palpatine's voice off camera saying something like, "Master Windu killed them all to get to me!"

i'd love to see infodroids adaptation, the trailers are awesome.!!

I still remember the day ID texted me and said, "hey, got a new veg file coming to you. I threw everything away and started over."

Thats the cut I wish everyone could have seen. It was full of radical ideas and some of them were incredible.

Anyway, congrats A-Man! I wish I could say I'll check it out sometime, but we moved to the country a few months ago and the only Internet connection we have is my phone.  :)

Ugh! If only. =) Miss you guys on here.

Alternative Star Wars Movie Titles - Keep Checking the First Post!
Time

ben_danger said:

So to start us off

CHAMPIONS OF THE FORCE - an alternative to AOTC. This would be a focus on a JEDI movie, where they are in strength. Obi-wan and Anakin would epitomize this. There was also another concept, that there was a secret elite circle called "The Champions of the Force", for which dooku was a member. Throughout AOTC a masked leader led a droid legion burning the galaxy. At the climax of the film this would be revealed to be dooku himself.

THE SECRET APPRENTICE - a part of my massive 'THE STAR WARS' cut idea which would play around with an alternative chronology. This episode would be the 7th out of 10, and would explore anakin's roots as a child, and how Qui-Gon acquires him.

I posted my comments before I saw this... I think I like The Secret Apprentice. It works especially if the goal is to conceal the identity of Vader.

I never had a problem with The Phantom Menace actually. Attack of the Clones never grew on me, so i would try to change that.

It's really hard, because honestly, Attack of the Clones is the most functional title, but yet I hate it. Rise of the Dark Side could work for that one, because in a way it is the rise of the dark side... Just trying to avoid Sith.

And I guess I would call the third prequel Fall of the Jedi. I know you were trying to avoid "of the", but I didn't know how to get around it.

Anyone responsible for this?

I don't mean to be rude, but isn't one of the rules to this website "be respectful"? I'm reading through some of these threads and it seems like more time is spent being mean to people who disagree instead of being constructive and talking about fan edits. I'm just saying. I see alot of it at originaltrilogy.com too but there is a lot of good things to be said there too.

Please PM me if you posted it.  I'd like to say thanks.

Ditto.

Thanks for the link...what an insane thread.
We dug this out of our vaults as reminder of the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on the fanedit community.
I know of a few of these style edits going down since the Reborn project was dropped. This was a edit I was seriously anticipating as I know many others were as well.

I will admit, I had a cut completed and in the can, ready for the test audience which consisted of my wife and dog....Then I came across Anti-matter's Prologue, and fell in love with his vision like a frog loves Skittles. (You don't know; frogs may love Skittles. DON'T JUDGE ME!) This revelation caused me to completely rethink my edit.

So, let this be my proclamation/announcement/village idiot stutter, that I hearby restart my Star Wars: Redemption edit.

As it says above this will be a trilogy. ANH, ESB, and ROTJ will pretty much stay intact with the prequels serving as flashbacks as usual. It's just that I will be using the flashbacks in ALMOST the same order as Anti is using them in his Prologue edit. I think it's a great concept that will add so much more to this edit.

Oh, and as for the '09 date. Well, you guys know how that goes. I will do my best to get this done ASAP. I MAY use Anti's Prologue as a source for prequels as his will be JarJar free, and I do NOT have the patience or the anti-despressants to make it through that ordeal. May angels dance on your belly for that task, Anti. If I go this route, then I will be playing the waiting game for the edit to release. But my anticipation to begin is very high, so we'll see how long I can wait.....Doh, it's gone. I might be starting tonight.

-Benja (December 23, 2008)
I'll let Benja talk about this if he wants, except for one thing. This was posted by "site admin," which I think is either Antimatter or Logan-5. Either way, it's funny that they brought this up again, unprovoked, but we are the ones who are obsessed.

Logan-5 said:
What about his gimp partner? I think TVs Frink latest antics are funny for us because he keeps getting owned but doesn't realize it. He and his cohorts have hijacked AM's thread, pretending to be watching and critiquing the movie. The only problem is, they are not. Check out his claim about the droid analysis lab. I know for a fact, because I HAVE WATCHED THE MOVIE MANY TIMES, that in AM's edit the computer speaks "KAMINO" in ENGLISH. I thought it was the most clever and important technical edit in that short scene. TVs Frink denies this fact, thus revealing his deception to everyone, but NO ONE in that discussion calls him out on the error. They just fall right in line.

Of course, now that I have called him out, expect to see some damage control as he tries to minimize his embarrassment. Insert excuse here:
And Antimatter said:
Yep. The computer analysis is able to link the weapon to Kamino, but not to any person, so at the end of the scan, there is both a computer-generated voice and a visual display. By the way, if you were watching with the sound down, you would still see that in the subtitles
I talked about this in the Fanedit forum thread, but the short version is that I'm watching the .avi and there is no computer voice saying "Kamino," the display is in Aurebesh not English, and as far as I can tell there is no subtitle. My guess is that Antimatter realized the problem (or maybe someone pointed it out) and he fixed it for the DVD. But the idea that I haven't been watching this at all, and am just making things up to make him look bad...is mind-blowing.

Oh, it's also worth noting that Antimatter's current avatar is a naked women. Stay classy.

Antimatter said:
Mr. Rat Fink is getting tripped up at the last step, I'm sure. If the Prologue fanedit were really that bad, even I wouldn't be able to watch it. The curious problem is that Star Wars fans watch prequel "edits" wanting to re-live the prequel films. I don't see this problem to the same degree in the Star Trek community. Trek fans are a bit better at temporarily distancing themselves from the original movies and episodes when trying to enjoy a fanedit.
I'm not exactly sure how "I like it so it can't be bad" is a defense. As for the rest...uh, what?

Anders said:
The ot.com website has never been associated with very bright people, and it all begins with their moderators. That MOther fellow is an obvious moron. The reason Anti-Matter's defunct Prologue thread was re-opened is so people like Frink and Benja can play there. He says that he's unlocking the thread because this website shows that the fanedit is now finished. Huh? Anti-Matter finished and released the Prologue in 2009.
Moth3r can give his reason for opening the thread, but I'm pretty sure it was to allow legitimate discussion of the edit (with none of the drama, which goes here instead). And I would guess the timing was due to me making this thread - I'll bet Moth3r forgot the edit was even released, or maybe thought no one here cared.

Anders said:
I have seen Frink's trailer and he isn't one to be trashing fanedits. The whole "ridiculous" theme is a convenient safeguard against future criticism.
This is so dumb. I can't wait to see how they trash my edit once it is out.

I LOVE THIS!

Hear that community? I am the greatest fraud! WOO HOO! Fraud? Really? What was fraudulent about ANYTHING I did? You know what? I don't care, this make me laugh!

I had no idea I had made such an impact in their lives.

Wow. Greatest Fraud. Can I get a trophy? I mean, really, Frink "my gimp partner" we should have a ceremony for this.

Let's prep speeches hence forth!

Star Wars Redemption: Episode 1 (Rendering final cut!) (* lost project *)
Time

MTHaslett said:

It certainly becomes clear that Obi Wan is simply waiting until Luke shows up. This, of course, turns what was subtext into something absolutely clear and undeniable-- a risky course in storytelling.

You might try to include a beat of Darth overpowering Obi Wan before Luke arrives to show that Obi Wan is not going to win... then his smile at seeing Luke will play more as a "surprise" reveal to the audience. "Ah-- he had a plan!" As it is, it plays like Obi Wan could duke it out, but he mysteriously chooses not to (with a wry smile to prove it's related to Luke being there).

I guess it's not really more subtle either way. But if you put Obi Wan more on the ropes, there will be more dramatic ups and downs in this sequence.

I appreciate the comments. I've already started working on sabers for what I've already cut. I think it works the way I have it. I hear what you're saying, but I cut it several before deciding on this cut. I don't have a problem with him looking like he's in control of the situation. In fact, I really like it. The whole movie Vader seem unstoppable, but for a moment it looks like he has someone who can at least match him. Hence the shot of Vader with his saber already ignited. I love that moment, because it actually shows weakness in Vader. He comes off a bit nervous. And he has so few weak moments that I like it this way. And it shows more contrast when he's down right cocky with Luke.

But again, thanks for commenting. Every comment gives more motivation to knock this out. =)
