I’ve made it a rule from now on that any SW fanedit I do is going to have the 20th Century Fox logo and the old LFL logo. It just makes it feel like Star Wars.
Not to mention Disney could do it seeing as they own Fox now.
So my first version of this turned out better than anticipated. It’s “show it to people” ready, I think.

I love the cuts here, but I’m afraid I liked this far less than you, but this still looks interesting.
I hated every moment of the Vader/Kenobi fight. I hated just about every moment in the Inquisitor base rescue sequence.
But to keep any form of story structure, I can see why you probably have to leave in what you did leave in.z
And it’s interesting enough to make me take a look if you want to toss me a link when ready.

I found a good concept video showing the destruction of Alderaan in a more detailed way. I know that you don’t plan to reuse Rogue One footage, but that shot showing a landscape of Alderaan and the one showing Bail in the moment of the explosion are good ones from the games. You plan to make something like that in your edit?
This is pretty interesting concept. Though, some of the shots were of low quality. But for the most part it works.
I apologize if I missed it, but Bingowings suggested in another thread that eliminating most if not all of episode 2 and three, and just have Obi-Wan going straight to the fortress corrects a lot of problems. Yes, it eliminates the Vader fight, but I guess he agrees with me in that it wasn’t very good. Just my opinion.
You could remove most of episode 2 and 3 and have the kidnappers take Leia straight to the Spanish Inquisition. Cut the Vader vs Kenobi bit because the suit doesn’t fit and it looks like a fan film. Cut a lot of the in fighting with the Spanish Inquisition. I know the Empire like pitting the military against each other but these guys answer to a very difficult boss and it gets repetitive.
And then I don’t know what to do with the escape in Ep. 4. So comical and I don’t think it was intended. The trench coat reminded me of The Little Rascals short where the kids were stacked in a coat pretending to be an adult. So awful.

I’d also remove the young Jedi approaching Kenobi because it’s so inconsistent. “The boy must be trained.” “I can’t help you.” WHICH IS IT?!?
I’m still struggling with primary concept idea. I have no idea why Bail needed Obi-Wan to go find Leia. He’s a part of the Empire technically. A senator couldn’t send soldiers to get his daughter?

I’m sure things will shift and change as we push through the series. I haven’t enjoyed this much at all, but I did appreciate your cuts here; my favorite being the Leia kidnapping. I swear did Rodriguez direct that sequence? I kept expecting to those awful swoop-mopeds from Boba Fett!

I’m deeply sorry, I love the concept idea, but at the same time, on my calibrated monitor those clips are over-saturated and some examples you create a few overexposures that have blown out the hightlights.
Am I the only one seeing this?
To give you something to work with (if you choose to do so.) you might try lowering the exposure levels, because let’s be honest, films are darker lit now.
I’ve often wondered if a reverse approach would be more fascinating by making the prequels more vintage looking.
Alas, that is not the point of this project.
I promise, I’m trying to be helpful, and not cast doubt. These are simply my thoughts.

I’m just now reading about this edit, and it looks promising.
I like the clip, the flames a look a tad off, but I see you say you are still tweaking, but the concept works. I wish there could be a way to make it more atmospheric that matches the mood of the scene. Maybe more gray and overcast over mostly sunny with scattered clouds, but that would be a load of rotoscoping work.
Regardless, I’m deeply interested in this. Also, why does Qui-Gon have a purple saber? Was just for the sake of change, or is there a deep cut reason? haha

I’ve been working on a Cobra Kai edit. Its mostly an experiment based on a theory I have that these seasons would perform better as single movies than a long-form series. So far, season one is working really well.
I suspect future seasons will be more difficult.

Cast in this is phenomenal, visuals are the same. I read the novel a very long time ago. Seems pretty faithful, though I agree with another poster that more plot could have been added. Maybe by trimming a few extraneous Zendaya perfume commercials. I get it. He’s dreaming of the future, let’s move on.
Felt a bit sleepy in parts, but I’m invested and ready to see more.
