The Vaultbreakers Collection - Disney Preservations
Time

Hi, I was wondering if any of you knew where I can find that LD (Disney's Favorite Stories: The Three Little Pigs PILA-1408 (Japanese LD edition)), which I've been looking for a very long time (5 years) but without success. Does any of you might have it, by any chance ? I'll be very glad to just get a transfered copy, if not the original.

For more info about the LD: http://www.geocities.ws/disney_laserdiscs/1408.html

Thanks to answer

DTS-HD MA 7.1 to WAVS (8 channels)
Time

Hi, does anybody here how to convert a DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio file into 8 WAVS (channels) files ? I tryed with eac3to and HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Stream Extractor as a GUI, but withtout success. All it does is only output 6 audio files instead of 8 (which is to total amount contained in a DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio file, if I'm not wrong).

Anyone can help me with this, please ?

Thanks to answer

Do these animation films need preservation?
Time

I did a re-edit of the Superman shorts a few years ago, using the warner dvd for the image and the old Bosco/Image Entertainment DVD for the sound. Maybe I'll rework them and then upload them for our group. But I have absolutely no idea about the laserdisc.

I think it'll be safer to upload the full LD so everyone here will be able to compare.

How's the picture quality? Does it have same oversaturation issue as the DVD releases?

Joral, do you have any informations about the original technical specifications of those shorts ?

Call me crazy, but I think a split screen showing the Cinemascope LATT and the academy version side by side in sync would be really cool.

Could be nice. But is there any equivalent on BR to the "angle" option that were present on DVD ? I mean, except the "Picture in picture" option ? I didn'see, yet, something close to if...

Why thanks! If you want screencaps of that release to share with "some competent people" who would measure its accuracy, I'd happily oblige.

Don't take it personally, I just wanted to tell that I can share those with peple who are directly in the industry and worked in the past with some of the artists at Disney's. If you know some yourself, go ahead "Be my guest". By the way, if you want to do the sceen caps, go ahead and if possible send them to me, please

I have that edition, though my transferring method is just not as refined as Molly's. Is there anything you want to know about the release?

Well I woul like to find a way to preserve the bonuses the best way possible since many of them were not ported to the dvd and BR release. Same thing for Snow White, Alice and 3 caballeros/Saludos Amigos.

Deluge is hashing the iso for Cinderella, it will be back seeding in a couple minutes.

I confirm, seeding has started for Cinderella

Maybe, though it would be complicated if Disney tweaked individual elements on the BD (not sure if they did). Also, fyi, the '87 LD is far more cropped than the BD, so I don't think you could directly overlay the color (if that sort of process is possible). Fun fact though: the Pinnochio LD still has reel change markers. It's wonderful.

Disney's butchery goes far beyond than colour tweaking and grain smoothing, unfortunately. What they're doing with those classics can't be called a restauration (for the BR, at least) and I'm not sure that the LD can be trusted either.

Hi. I'm Taking it raw from the original BR disc that I borowed to somebody. I will not compress it and I know that the film with the main dts audion is about 35 gb, so it will be a BD-50, but you free to adapt it to your convenience. Although, I would like to see Molly's LD capture of both B&B WIP and Cinderella (I'm the other leecher on TPB, by the way).

Today I was looking at my laserdisc collection, in particular at cartoons and animation; I wondered which of them may worth a preservation... like if there are no DVD or Blu-Ray editions; or, if present, there are alterations (like cuts, reanimations, wrong audio or aspect ratio) etc.

I'm quite sure some of Disney and Who Framed Roger Rabbit shorts have alterations.

(bold and italic: there is no DVD or BD)

I'm most interested in Disney and non-Disney feature lenght film - for some of them, I could think also to use my Pioneer HLD-X9!

Waiting for comments from users more expert than me.

Yes, they need preservation (especially the pre-Toy Story ones for the Disney's).

Good collection, although what's missing are (follow the links for additional informations) :

Bambi;

Alice in Wonderland;

Saludos Amigos/Three Caballeros;

other titles might follows...

By the way, if you are going to preserve theese, don't forget to preserve the bonuses, especially the Disney, as some are very rare or hard to come by since the never went to DVD or BR.
