What we like about the Prequels

One thing I dug was the visual transformation that took place over the series of the films. The production design, costumes, etc, all slowly transitioned over from more organic, individualized, hand-crafted types of production to the more machined, pre-fab type of look.

Agreed. One of my favorite thing about the prequels was watching the transformation of a free Republic to the Empire, like the design of the ships, etc.

I also would like to say that I wish Anakin wasn't so kid-likev in Episode I. I think a better representation of him would have been similar to Boba Fett in Episode II, much more serious.

In star wars and Empire we listen only once the word stormtroopers.

"Only imperial stormtrooper can be..."

"Stormtroopers? here? I must allert the others"

Now if you noticed the word clone is mention numerous times in the last PT films. not to mention Clone wars series.Younger viewers can messed it up.

I admire OT that mentions so little about names and shit. PT is full of these.

Well in ANH clones are mentioned a couple times. But yeah I agree.

Thanks guys

Having a pretty stressful day today. I've almost completed the whole of the opening sequence of the bespin approach and i have 1 shot left to do. but it's not working. All the other shots look great, but the new first glance at cloud city i just can't get it to look right. If this doesn't work i will have to scrap everything bi have done for the new approach sequence and revert it back to the original. Gutted.

Hope it works. :(

Can you post a still? Maybe someone on here knows how to fix it.

"Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival." What was the point?

It's not even the line that annoys me. Or the shot of the Lambda shuttle flying toward the Executor. It's the fact that they cut away to an extremely slow shot of Vader landing on the Death Star in the middle of what is supposed to be the most tense part of the film (the rescue of Luke). In an instant, all of the drama falls away and we are left to stare at a miming Moff Jerjerrod. Why?!

I agree. I do think the new line is stupid, but the shot of the shuttle flying towards the Executer can stay. The recycled footage is a joke though, really cheap.

I just noticed something while watching the original ESB, and I didn't think of it until now, but the original Boba Fett voice sounds like a well to do guy trying to sound intimidating. It's kinda weird, but it's like Jason Wingreen is trying to hard, while Temura Morrison just talks naturally. If someone would just show me the two clips with different voices, I hate to say it but I'd prefer the voice of Temura from the SE. (?)

Oh well, maybe that's just me.

well first of all, welcome. Now Boba fett should never have been changed just to fit that bloody Prequel trilogy. I'm changing it back to how it was and how it should be. I really don't care if it cancels out any consistency with the PT and this has been discussed in quite a lot of detail over the years in this thread. Morrison sounds like he just can't be bothered saying the lines. Jason's portrayal was perfect . But i will be changing Jango's voice when he is wearing the helmet so there is no problem there. But i can see that there is going to be a lot of people saying exactly the same thing when ESB:R is out. Damn the PT...Damn them all to hell!!! lol

And Vaders shuttle is another addition that should never have been made. I completely disagree that the music fits perfectly. That score was butchered just to fit some shots that we never needed to see. And Vaders new line...GONE. "Bring my shuttle" was perfect and is the line that will be used in my edit. That one line eliminated the whole need to see Vader leaving in the shuttle.

I just rewatched the ESB DVD and I agree that the music fits pretty bad. The recycled footage of him docking with the Executioner is the worst. The one shot that fits the music alright (which is what I was talking about) is the actual shot of his shuttle mid-flight, but I can see why you would want that to go. Plus I think that "bring my shuttle" is better as well.

Yeah about Boba Fett's voice.. when I first posted I didn't know that a lot of other people asked about that as well so sorry to "revisit" that topic. lol

I can understand wanting to get rid of garbage mattes, fixing up non-linear movement, colour correction, and so forth. I just have no idea why someone would want to go back and 'improve' all of the FX shots with CGI.

I never said to use CGI on the FX shots, I just meant to do the things you listed in your first sentence. You and I are on the same page.

The only wishlist I have for ESB and ROTJ is just to edit visual effects so it doesn't look like the movie was made 30 years ago.

I don't really want scenes added/deleted, and I don't want the storyline to be changed (especially for the OT), I just want the visual effects updated to look more fluid and to fix errors.

I know Adywan has mentioned that he is going to make changes in ROTJ, but I disagree with this, just leave the scenes as they are, it's a classic Star Wars movie. Oh well, maybe I will get around to doing an edit of my own someday.

Your first reaction to Hayden is ROTJ

Uh...ok, even if you go the "replace Shaw with Hayden" route, you still run into the same problem. Now, Anakin looks like he did in Ep. 3, so rather than being twenty years too old, he's twenty years too young. Not exactly an improvement.

So unless you're going to suggest replacing Alec with Ewan, this observation won't work as a supporting argument for the Shaw replacement...

If you read my other post I believe I mentioned that GL should replace the current Hayden with a Hayden that looks older (meaning a different haircut, etc.) to try to match the age he is (which should be about 40-something).

Most 40 year olds still look sort of young, all he needs is an "older" haircut (not a pretty boy haricut LOL), and maybe some makeup to make him look older, but he still shouldn't look as old as Sebastian Shaw.
