One of the better things about the prequels is that they didn't ruin Han Solo. Hopefully this movie doesn't do that.

I see you have made the lightsabers "prequelised" by giving them the pointed tip :(
I actually kinda like the pointy tips, never really noticed them until III though.

I was wondering what was going on. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Count me as someone who thinks the new shot is great as-is.
Can't wait for this thing to be released.
I think everything looks fantastic. And the length of the establishing shot is just fine IMO, I think that if the comparison wasn't up there going blank for a second most people wouldn't really notice the added length too much.
Speaking of, Ady - can you please post the clip without the comparison? That'd be awesome. Thanks!

Last I saw it, it was still pretty small. Any bigger and it couldn't fit in the shuttle bay!
I just noticed that in ROTJ the shuttle looks a tad bigger (not by much) in relation to the shuttle bay.
Anyway just a thought, doesn't make too much difference to me either way. Thanks!
I have a quick very random question. I was looking through the photo comparisons of some various clips and came across the shot where you replaced Needa's shuttle with a Lambda one. It looks a little small in the screenshot, I realize that it is a pretty old clip so I was wondering if that has changed at all.
Thanks!
I thought about that when I saw the Rogue One teaser (assuming the concept of the Death Star orbiting a planet makes the final film). Honestly I think that the planet Ady put in there looks close enough to the planet Rogue One depicts.

It'd have to be way closer than than though, which would probably require it to have a good portion of itself within the atmosphere. Assuming they haven't stretched the size of it or Alderaan insanely from previous canon, I don't see how it could possibly be large enough to fill up that much of the view on any planet with enough gravity to support an atmosphere, which this one clearly has. Did they confirm that's the Death Star itself though? It looks really different from the Death Star. To me, the dish looks too big. It'd be interesting if it was some kind of crater left by mining entire moon for materials for the Death Star and the Star Destroyer fleet.
I think you're over thinking things, the teaser shot honestly probably won't be part of the actual film first of all, they haven't even started filming yet.
Secondly, the shot is pretty obviously zoomed in, which would cause the object to seem much bigger. They wanted to show something cool and give a hit as to what time period the film will be set in, and that's it really.

That's true...most moons wouldn't be orbiting in the same place a space station would.
Yea, check out this artist's rendering of how the moon would look if it orbited at the same distance as the ISS:
So yeah it's feasible. Regardless I'm really excited for all of the coming films!
There is so much cool potential for standalone movies I'd imagine that there will be many more in the coming decades after this first batch. Which would be awesome IMO.
And the teaser "shot" looked dope, the fighter flying overhead towards the massive death star.. it's all about perspective BTW, if it's really close to the planet then sure it could look that big.
Anyone expecting to see a film that looks like it was made in the late 70s/early 80s will be disappointed. This film is made in 2015, obviously special effects and the exact way things look will be a little different.
From a strict special effects perspective, I think it looks great. Really excited about this film.
I don't like it.
I LOVE it.
Really excited for this movie. I loved that they didn't show the OT characters - we already know they're in the film, I'd prefer the movie to be centered more on the new characters and having the "big three" from the OT be in the background and "pass the torch" so to speak in this film.
I love how it doesn't resemble the PT or OT visually. It's a new trilogy and it should have it's own style and identity IMO.
Also, the lightsaber looked pretty dope I thought. Has anyone considered that the cloaked guy is an ancient warrior that has "awoken" and his lightsaber is from a different time and is an older model with "vents" or something?
I guess I just love modern films to much, but I thought the camera angles and effects were awesome. The teaser was honestly more exciting than I thought it'd be. Can't wait to see the film.
Haha that Rick Roll was good. Well played.
Leave the old X-Wings where they belong: Star Wars - ANH.
There will never be another original Star Wars. A new Star Wars movie set decades later and made almost half a century later doesn't have to look exactly the same. Let's just appreciate the new films for what they are. And of course appreciate the classics.

Aren't all of those "real sets" above miniatures? The actors were not walking through them in the way they did the Death Star sets or the cantina or Jabba's palace. The actors walked around in front of Green screens. But, I concede the point that not all the sets were computer generated :)
Oops, meant to say those are real props/miniatures. So basically everything was from a real miniature but then CGI'd onto the greenscreen afterwords.

Also, Real sets! Real Props! Less CGI! I have yet to see a CGI Jabba that is as half as convincing as the massive foam-rubber puppet built 30 years ago. A real set, with something physical to work with not only gets a much better performance from the actors but also generates an atmosphere - something a computer just can't recreate convincingly - or at least it couldn't when the prequels were shot. Perhaps it can now.
Agree with everything you said, but there were plenty of real sets in the PT:
and
are a few examples. Plus, the OT had its fair share of blue/green screen:
Honestly I think the special effects were the least of the PT's problems.

I think it's fine for fan edits, such as Adywan's edits, but officially modernize them decade after decade? In the 1997, the films were "updated" to modern standards to some extent, but now some of the CGI and added effects are dated. Why do films of 1970s and 1980s need to be updated to modern standards? Can't they simply exist as products of their time?
The 1997 and 2004 SE's were quite poorly done, effects only added in a few random shots.
They should release the originals, but they should also do a more thorough job with the special editions, IMO.
What they need to do is release one version of the original, unaltered trilogy preserved as best they can, and also release a completely re-worked film to bring the films to modern day standards. Every shot completely reworked/remastered with a total revamp of the special effects (think Adywan's Revisited films, but obviously without the scene edits.
I agree with the sentiments of most here. I will however say that I can understand why people who have donated money towards the project might get a little impatient if there are further delays.
Personally, I'm sure that Ady will finish the project. To be honest, I'm looking forward to ESB:R more than Star Wars VII. Taking on the rest of the saga will be a mammoth task, but there is such a huge following and excitement towards the project now (over 70,000 fb likes!) which gets me even more excited about the future of Revisited.

Don't know of Ady would consider this, but a reason to back-up Leia remembering what little she does about her real mother could be that while she lived on Alderaan, her adopted father showed her holographic images of her mother from when she served in the Republic Senate. It would similarly to the deleted second from "Episode II" when Padme talks about her childhood friends who died and Anakin sees moving images of them on the wall of her bedroom.
Interesting idea for sure. And I do like the scene showing Alderaan, it's a poignant scene.
Wasn't there a drawing or something planned for July 9th? How'd that go?

You must be from that universe where Jason Wingreen and Temuera Morrison have similar voices.
Yeah they sound different but I'm just saying it isn't really a big deal since there's only like two lines spoken anyway from Wingreen.
A first time viewer would likely not notice it if they aren't looking for it.
I'm fine with Morrison as Boba. The voice thing isn't a big deal to me, he says like two lines in ESB and if you're not listening carefully it doesn't even sound that different anyway.
