Cyberhome DVD+RW player only plays the DVD-Rom content?
Time
I don't think so, but I'm in the process of redoing it with DVDit, also because it needed to be redone anyway. DVDit didn't like it, probably because it has a 300mb vob file linked before a 1gb vob file. I used magiciso to make aniso and got then used it to burn the iso. Same result. Plays on other DVD players and the PC recognizes it as a DVD video, but still a rom to the cyberhome. I wonder if adding an audio_ts folder would help?

Info: Successfully added subtitles to the EditDroid ANH!
Time

It took me forever to figure out how and what to do to do this as well as keep the multi-angle feature (selectable crawls) and the menu in place, but I finally accomplished it! I don’t know how to or have a program that allows me to make multi-angles. What I finally ended up doing is using Musclesoft DVTool to cut the angled portion off of the original vob. Very cool that there is no dialouge in this part so no subtiling needed here. I demuxed the audio (only one angle), video and original Greedo EditDroid subtitles.

Then I used the isomix fixed subtitles I downloaded (after watching, well mostly listening, actually to the movie many times and adding, changing lines so that they made a perfect match to what was being said) added back in the Greedo subs to the main subs. I also redid Greedo-only subs in a font to match the ISOMIX subs for Empire and Jedi. (I would have just gotten the ISOMIX ANH, but I wanted selectable crawls and I like EditDroid’s menus and special features better.)

Then I used SpruceUp to create one chapter point at the exact point where I cut the original VOB. I created the project (though SpruceUp doesn’t allow multiple audio or any subtitles so I wasn’t done yet) so I could get a cell time for the cut. I used pgcdemux to rip only the celltimes.txt. Then I used muxman with the complete one angle video, 2 audios, and 2 subtitles, along with my celltimes.txt with the one chapter point. When that was done I again used PGC to strip it, this time stripping only the second cell. I used DVDsubedit to reposition and check the subtitles.

Then I remuxed everything (again!) and renamed the resulting vobs VTS_01_1.VOB thru VTS_01_5.VOB to VTS_01_2.VOB thru VTS_01_6.VOB. I pasted them and my 133mb VTS_01_1.VOB (the multi-angle crawls) into the folder with the original menus. I also replaced the trailer (which I already have on the official DVD) with rowman’s post-Academy Awards trailer. I used the same ifo file from the original so that the angles would work properly. I used ifoedit to fix the VTS sectors and add in values for the new subtitles. I was finally done!

The end result is the EditDroid ANH, but now with added features:

Alternate trailer (menu still refers to just trailer).
Non-removable Greedo subtitles in white AlternateGothic2 font (removable only if you select the other subtitles).
Full subtitles in white Arial Narrow font (Greedo in yellow) (selectable only with subtitle button on remote).
all of the original menus and features still work:
scene selection
optional isolated score
Ralph McQuarrie gallery
DVD-Rom features (mine also has the Blak019 Holiday Special wallpapers folder and PDF script as they wouldn’t fit on my modifed Holiday Special disc, with it’s added Conan O’Brien clip and more)
Jacket_p pictures

To complete this set I am simply going to make the ISOMIX Empire and Jedi with subs fit into the EditDroid menus, with Jacket_p and DVD-Rom features for both. All of the subtitles in this new set will now only be able to be selected via “subtitle” button. I just thought that if ever choose to watch the films with the isolated scores, it would be better if I could at least read what was going on.

Oh yeah- all of the subtitles appear in the black bar at the bottom, off of the picture. There are some subtitles in the full ANH subs that have three lines. For these only, the first line appears over the video.

I only have a 2X burner, but if anyone wants this set, which for me will be Disc 2’s to go with my 2004 DVDs, I can send one person a copy and they can distribute. I don’t have enough HD space to do the torrent thing either. It was really hard doing this project, after every step I had to delete the previous files.

Cyberhome DVD+RW player only plays the DVD-Rom content?
Time
I just put one of these Star Wars discs in my Cyberhome set top recorder for the first time. For some crazy reason, it will only play the DVD-rom content, not the video! It just goes directly to one of the wallpapers and I can scoll thru them, but I can't play it like a normal DVD! Anyone come acrros this? What can I do? Is there some setting I can change? I tried the cyberhome web page with no luck.

Help: looking for 'Heroes & Villians' in NTSC??
Time

Did anyone convert babyhum’s (or any other version) of this from PAL to NTSC? I could probably find a way to play it, but I would just rather have an NTSC version. I suppose I could do it myself, but seeing as how I haven’t get downloaded this (these) special(s), if someone has already converted it, I would rather get that version instead. So thanks everyone.

I made a new version of the KCCI Holiday Special where I added some extra clips, such as the Conan O’Brien clip and a “Wasting Electricity” deleted scene, among a few others, as well as scene selection. I had to leave off some of the DVD-rom content like the music, wallpapers and pdf script so it still fits on a DVD-r. I could send out a copy if anyone’s interested, perhaps as a trade for the NTSC H&V. The extra scences aren’t the best quality, but I think Rikter is working on something better.

Info Wanted: Return of the Ewok commentary.avi (in ocp's RotJ dvd-rom - how to play?)

I tried that too and to quote "Rick" from the myspleen comments section of RotJ classic "I am having problems trying to get the commentary .avi of ROTE to run in Media Player Classic. All it comes up with "Cannot render any of the streams" and does not attempt to download any codecs. The regular .avi of ROTE works fine, but not the commentary version. I would suspect that both files should have been encoded in exactly the same fashion, however MPC just won't play ball.

Can someone tell me if there is some odd quirk with the commentary .avi and what I need to do to get it running? Many thanks."

I have the exact same problem.

He had little traces of good in him still as Darth Vader, but it wasn't until he saved his son at the end of RotJ that he redeemed himself and his spirit was set free. He had for the most part done no good as an old man, which is why the spirit appeared as it did.

Yeah, he barely did do any good as an "old man," except that that was the point he redeemed himself, like you said, therefore becoming Anakin again. Geez, I've already typed this out before. I have to wade through your posts. The least you could do is address mine!

Let me try to explain it better. Anakin didn't die, but the Jedi/ Force/ Midiclorians or whatever inside him left his body at that point. The force is kinda "alive" and it knew that it had better hightail itself outta Ani while it still had the chance. It could see that he had fully embraced the dark side and would wait around for him to redeem himself, which it knew would happen at some point.

Is 'Behind the Scenes of Star Wars' on DVD? (VideoNow disc)
Time

I just realized that the Wal-Mart “Story of Star Wars” DVD was based on this collection from the VideoNow kids DVD player thingie:

The Story of Star Wars personal video disc

Now it seems discs one and two, “The Story of Anakin Skywalker” and “The Story of Luke Skywalker” are what the walmart bonus Sith DVD is comprised of. But what about disc 3- “Behind the Scenes of Star Wars”? Does anyone know exactly what this is or even have a VideoNow player or have kids that have a videonow player? I wonder if it’s the same as the content on one of the official DVDs? I am almost tempted to buy a VideoNow player just to find out. And yes, I did purchase Episode II on VHS just to get the “Star Wars Connections” bonus feature, which is similar to the Story of Star Warsm which I unfortunatly didn’t buy Ep3 at WalMart so I missed out on.

Mario,

Let me put it another way:

How would you (or anybody else here) feel if Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr went back into the studio and made changes to Sgt. Pepper, and then claimed it that the changes finally made the album the way they had originally wanted it to be in 1967?

Very interesting example, because that DID happen. With the Let it Be album. I don't remember the exact details, but yeah they did that. The difference is that the original version is availiable on the same format (CD).

I know we shouldn't forget the classics and they should be available, I'd just rather watch them the new way.

OK, but movies are meant to be FUN! And to a lot of us, the prequels are. My girlfriend only saw them in Lucas' intended order and loved them. Well she's in love with Hayden and calls me Anakin and has me call her Padme sometimes, but that's beside the point. I know he did have some backstory planned, and if wasn't exactly the same as what we saw, so what? He knows this and he enjoys his own movies, so why can't we?

Look, the prequels were already made. We can't change that. Same with the OT. I guess Lucas could have digitally changed Hayden's (and Jake Lloyd's) eye color to be the same as Sebastion Shaw's, but wouldn't that be a lot more work than changing something that's only on screen for two seconds? Now Yoda in TPM NEEDS to be changed. So there's a PT change to accomidate the OT, it does work both ways.

You gotta admit the changes to the OT to fit the PT are all very minor and are only on the screen for no more than 5 minutes tops. (even if you add up all the changes together it won't total more than five minutes (Krayt dragon call, Boba Fett's 3 lines, Emperor scene in ESB/ unmasking/ ghost/ Naboo and Jedi Temple in celebration). Am I missing anything? The other changes had nothing to do with the PT.

What would you have done differently? Obviously since at least 1980 there were plans to someday make 1-3. How would YOUR episodes 1-3 have gone down?

OK, but in all honesty (I posted this in another thread), exactly WHAT was changed ONLY to conform to the prequels? This is all I can come up with:

Boba Fett's voice
Anakin ghost/ eye color/ eyebrows
a couple of minor edits to the ending celebration
(someone else pointed out) the Krayt dragon or whatever call was changed into noise of the thingie Obi rode in Sith

Now, don't say the emperor, because that change should have been made A LONG TIME ago. You know, way back in 1997. I know the dialouge is negligable, but the monkey lady.. no way. I mean it was either this or change Ian in RotJ into the monkey lady. It never should have been two different people, even before the prequels were made.

I challenge someone to find things that were changed besides the four (maybe five) I posted above that were changed because of the prequels. Everything else was changed simply to improve the effects/ original vision, but not because of the prequels. I mean most of the changes were made in 1997 two years before Phantom Menace!

You (and marioxb) would.

So?

Plus, for me, when watching the movies in chronological order, I really can pretend that ANH was released AFTER Sith. And that is only possible with the DVD edition with all of their glorious changes.

Y'know, Adam, we should start our own forums, Star Wars Complete Saga.com or something. I bet there are more of us (prequel/ SE lovers) out there than there are haters. We are just the only two that post on these forums.

Nevermind. I was just kinda trying to be funny. But it really does get confusing trying to figure out which version of a patricular fan made thingie to get. I don't have enough time or HD space to download them all to compare. And I really do like the OOT, just simply prefer the DVD versions and love the prequels to death.

I just really don't understand the hate for the prequels and the SE's/ Super SE's. The originals are cool, I don't hate em. I just like it seeming that they were filmed AFTER Revenge of the Sith. That's the intention. Having the 2004DVDs WITH all of the changes is the ONLY way that is possible.
