Do you REALLY think there will be remastered versions of the OOT or whatever? I don't.
Time
Whatever. I have my OOTs, and I'm all set on that end. I honestly have never cared about animorphic or not on ANY release. I have my widescreen TV even, still don't care. I won't replace a movie that wasn't animorphic, simply because another version is. Only if the content or special features are different/ better or the other release was pan n scan.

I honestly believe that GL doesn't want us to have great quality OOT movies. And I don't want them either. Like I said before, the better quality should be reserved for the movies that fit together with the prequels, exclusivly.

Don't tell me that some people are "afraid" to like certain movies because it's considered to be a stupid movie. There are many times I simply don't state my opinion on certain movies, because I don't want to be the "only one". In reality, there are very very very very few movies I dislike. For example, I enjoy EVERY SINGLE ACTION movie, some of course more than others, but the only movies I don't like are the "boring" ones, like About Shmidt.

I mean, seriously, why would they waste their time? We’ve got the originals on DVD, now the subject has probably been dropped. (Which is fine by me. The only reason I like the original originals is because, well no reason. I don’t prefer them by any means, but I just want to have them, for completness sake, in any official DVD format that’s equal to or better than my old VHS releases. Bam! I’ve got that. Done!)

Look, the originals are now on DVD. Lucas will continue to remaster the movies until he is happy with everything (I hope 2007 will be it), and everything matches better and looks like it was filmed in episode order. Why would he bother with anything else? Why would you want a 1977 movie to look like a 2007 movie if you aren’t willing to pretend it was flimed after 2005? I AM willing to pretend that, because I LOVE the prequels. If you hate the prequels and SEs, then the old movies should look no different than they did when originally released. If you love the SSSSEs and prequels, then they should look pristine and match each other so everything flows better. When I watch the movies from now on, it will always be in the order of 1, 2, Clone Wars, 3, 4, 5, 6. When going from 3 to 4, I can easily believe that 4 was filmed after 3, with the 2004 version.

Think of it this way. You make a movie and release it to theaters. You release it on DVD. Then you realize you want to improve it. The original is already out there. Would you really want people to see your old version anymore? Why would you want to “fix up” your old version as well as your “new version” I know I wouldn’t. It’s different, because we have seen them, but those versions are now out there. We should stop complaining now. You wanted them unaltered. They are unaltered. Why aren’t you happy yet? Animorphic would be altered as well. I, much like Lucas, would want people to think exactly like me. If they want the movies to look great, they will take my versions. If they want the old versions, they can have them, but I sure as hell ain’t gonna want people to have those as the definitive versions! I think the exact same way as this. Old versions, don’t look as good. New versions, look much better. Why is that so hard to understand and be happy with?

I'm pretty sure we already got our theatrical versions, and that's all we'll ever get, which is fine with me. All I want in the boxset is the finalized version of the Saga- everthing from 2004 and more. Fixed Yoda in TPM, whatever mistakes (Hayden, Jabba, Jedi Rocks, Greedo, etc were NOT mistakes, as much as most of you would like to believe) like lightsaber colors in the OT. And maybe some extras that haven't been released before. That's all. Oh wait, Clone Wars should be included as well, with an "Episode II 2.5" crawl, both volumes edited into one.

Sorry haters, but this will be a six (hopefully 7) movie boxset, this will be the complete Star Wars Saga. You need to stop pretending that the prequels don't exist. Everyone I know in real life likes (or loves) the prequels. There are a lot of fans, probably even some of you pretend to hate them so you can seem "cooler" or something, because prequel hating is the "in" thing right now.

Info & Help Wanted: Coming To Your Screens Summer 2007 - Super8 OT project...
Time
When I first read the first post here about this project, I assumed Super 8 was what they used to show the movies in the theaters. Then I read some other posts and it's just certain scenes?

Huh, what does Super 8 mean? And what exactly in full detail for dummies like me, will exactly be in this project? So I assume now it's just a selection of scenes and not the whole movies? Help! I confusded. I have no idea what this is. None whatsoever.

Why do people think Han changed if/when he Greedo shot first?

(this is from Lucas own words on the Making Movie Magic CD ROM). So he went in and made sure the dialogue made it clear that Greedo planned on killing Han. (you know, the Over my dead body... That's the idea). But I think the problem is a lot of people don't pay too much attention to subtitles, so a lot of kids got the idea that Han just shot Greedo in cold blood. I think he probably heard from enough kids who told him they loved Han the best because he killed Greedo in cold blood, that he felt an obligation to make his intentions more clear.

But either way I don't see how it changes anything about Han. Wether Greedo shot first or not doesn't negate the fact that he flat out told Han he planned on killing him.

You are awesome! That's what I always thought. I mean look at all that smoke there in the OUT/ GOUT/ OOT/ WOOT/ HOOT/ BOOT/ whatever it's called.

I guess I watch my TV in full mode. I never thought that it was any kind of zooming, since it doesn't say "zoom" in the title as in "zoom", "wide zoom" etc.

Even when I set my DVD player to 16x9 mode (which I don't like to do, because I end up losing some picture top and bottom with 1.85.1 movies (thats the smaller bars, right), I have the same TV options. How exactly am I "supposed" to watch DVDs? In "normal" mode? You gotta be kidding me. No way, those gray bars are ugly, for one. I like seeing the top and bottom black bars, cuz it seems more "cinematic" that way.

So honestly, someone tell me how I should watch stuff on my widescreen TV. And that's for everything. I don't and probably will never own anything HD. Standard DVD and non-digital cable is cool for me. I have a Sony something-or-other HDTV. (Why in the hell they call them HDTV when the HD part is sold separatly, I'll never understand). The settings are normal, full, wide zoom, zoom. And I want to use the same mode for EVERYTHING. Too lazy and hard to change the settings all the damn time.

Yeah! And I was trying to be funny with the T1 and T2 things. I know they typically stand for Terminator, that's why it's funny.

And that's true about the NTSC/ PAL thing too. You didn't specify, PAL or NTSC. R2 Japan is NTSC and R2 UK is PAL. I say buy whatever disc that's from where you live. The only reason I ever import a DVD is if it's not widescreen in the US or there is a better version, like a director's cut or better special features in another country. I can't stand PAL anything and it's always the very last resort for me. I had the RoboCop: Prime Directives, Cleopatra 2525, Super Mario Bros. and The Wizard PAL releases when I thought they'd never come out elsewhere. I get stuff Japan more frequently, because it's NTSC. I have the Scream director's cut from Japan, and Vegas Vacation, since the original US release of that was pan and scan, while Japan was widescreen.

I probably wouldn't have ever noticed the change in 1997 if the internet didn't tell me so. Going back and watching the old version, there was a LOT of smoke, so yeah, it coulda happened. Anyway, I think the 2004 version is great.

I never thought of Han as a badass in the first place. I always thought of him as kind of a coward, really. I always knew he was a good guy, but he didn't want to get involved so as to not get hurt. I mean he kinda ran away when there was a big space fight supposed to happen. Then, he got a change of heart and came back to help save the day. That's the Han I always knew and he never changed. He just wanted to do whatever he could so that he wouldn't get hurt. He obviously shot Greedo so that he wouldn't get shot himself. He didn't care (actually he did) about helping the Rebels, because he didn't want to get hurt as well. That's it. What do you guys think of this? I was only one when the movie was released, but I kinda thought Han and Indiana Jones were about the same. Much like Indy is scared of snakes, Han is scared of Greedo (though he hides it) and everyone else that might harm him.

I like it! I'd just wished you used the 2004 DVD footage. I'd love to see both this song and the imperial march added to ANH in the 2007 boxset. I've heard that they fixed Yoda in TPM and I bet that all of the mistakes like incorrect colors and flopped soundtracks will be fixed in this boxset. I think they should use the fixes made by DarthEditius and others as well, but just the fixes. I like all of the additions to the (S)SEs.

I don't ever have side bars on my TV unless they are grey bars when I set the TV to 4:3 mode, which I NEVER do. I really don't understand how people come up with this black bars on the sides thing. It you watched a letterbox movie on a 4x3 tv, that's the exact way it looks on my widescreen TV. Black bars top and bottom, no streching. I also keep my DVD player in letterbox mode.

How about someone explain all of these abbreviations to me?

My friends don't even know what PT and OT mean! Prequel Trilogy and Original Trilogy, I know.

First we had OOT, meaning ORIGINAL Original Trilogy, right?

for some unknown reason, it became:

OUT- Original Unaltered Trilogy I guess. That's funny. OUT is a word. The opposite of IN. So I don't like it. OOT is better. Kinda like the sound an owl makes, but at least it's not a real word. Why did you dummies decide to change OOT to OUT anyway?

Then we now have GOUT. Ain't that a disease or something? What the hell does the G stand for? George? STOP CHANGING THE ABBREVIATIONS! Whoever's idea that was is worse than Mr. Lucas with the constant changing. At least I (and I know I'm in the minority on this website) like George's changes.

I'm officially changing PT and OT to T1 and T2. Trilogy 1 (it comes first) and Trilogy 2. Copyright 2006 MarioXB. The End. Or not.

Official release of the OOT, cool. Animorphic, shmanimorphic. I have a widescreen TV, but I actually got used to the black bars and get this, LOVE seeing black bars on widescreen movies.

So this OOT release is sweet for me and is all I'll ever need. Didn't buy it yet, but I will soon. I'll probably sell my old 2004 DVDs, but not the bonus disc. This is how I always envisioned to have the OT sets. As two disc sets, just like the PT. Disc one, the better (IMO) 2004 SSE, and disc two being the theatrical. As a matter of fact, here's a link to DVD Talk, where I created, back in 05-14-05, or so, custom covers for two disc sets. much like these new releases, way, way, way before they were announced.

I love the SEs in every way (except the mistakes) and I will get newer versions of those to better match the PT, but for me the OOT will always be inferior, even though I was one year old when Star Wars was first released. Yeah, its nice to have them, but I like the movies looking like they were made AFTER the PT, which I love as well. I'll probably watch the old versions occasionally, but I do prefer the newer lusasized versions. I only with they did A New Hope like the editdroid with the selectable crawl.

Idea: for... Custom Made DVD Sets
Time
Originally posted by: Darth_Evil
Ok, maybe this is the wrong place to post this thread, but it seems to be the most appropriate place. This thread (and I'm sorry if this has been done before on another section of the site) would be for posting a list of your custom made DVD sets so that others can take advice for building thier sets. What I mean by custom sets doesn't mean DVD's you made into sets, a collection you've made of official and/or non-official DVD's.

I'll start with my Lord of the Rings custom set for an example.

FOR ALL THREE FILMS:

4-Disc Extended Version
-Extended Version of Film Split Across Two Disc with 6.1 DTS sound. Best version of film avaliable.
-2 Discs of Bonus Features

Disc 2 of Theatrical Cut Release
-Includes Trailers and featurettes/documentaries not found on the Extended DVD bonus material. Great Disc to add to the collection.

Disc 2 of Limited Edition
-Includes the Costa Botes documentary. A comprehensive look at the trilogy without all the fluff narration. Just footage.

EXTRA NOTES:
-That's how I'd do the set. You could also add the theatrical version, if you'd like it. I peronally find the Extended Editions vastly superior, and don't need the theatrical version, but for anyone who wants it because they like both or because they want a more comprehensive set, add it. I would NOT reccoemend you use Disc 1 of the limited editions if you want both versions of the films. It won't look as good as the seperate Extended/Theatrical release discs, and you'll lose the 6.1 sound track. Plus, it's one of those two sided discs, and that's really all that needs to be said on why not to use the limited edition version of the movie.

PACKAGING:
I would use the packaging for the 4-Disc extended editions. Keep all the 4 discs in their specified place. Take the other two (or three) discs and put them both in a seperate paper disc sleeve. Put these sleeves in the flap right next to movie part one, where the booklet is. They fit very well. And now you have a comprehensive six (or seven) disc set for all three lord of the rings films. For anyone keeping track, that's eighteen or twenty-one discs total.

So with each post, you should comment on someone else's list or make your own modifications too it, and/or add a new guide to making a custom DVD set. Make sure to specify where you get all discs so people can know where to get them if they want to build them.

With my LOTR sets (I don't have the limited ones.. yet.. maybe) I actually do like having the theatrical versions as well. I hate cardboard boxes and anything other than a standard DVD keepcase. So I make special covers for those crazy boxes and put them on the shelf, emoty. Even if it's something that had regular cases inside it, like Indiana Jones or Star Wars. I don't like the box getting damage, so it goes by itself empty.

Anyway, I have three disc cases that are the same size as the one disc cases. For LOTR, I have the movie series themselves in one set of cases and the bonus stuff in other cases. Like this for each movie:

For example- FotR: theatrical, extended discs 1 and 2 in one case (3 discs)
FotR: bonus discs from the theatrical and extended versions (3 discs as well)
