Every scientists here knows just as much as all the nations in Europe know about global warming too. This isn't a "Europe" vs "America" thing.

Come on guys! You produce more food than you can eat yourself! You are the inventors of FAST FOOD. "Super-Size-Me" is an American movie for a good reason.
Hey now, have you not seen Subway's commercials?! Subway is good for you!
Subway is good for you (leave off the mayo and mustard). Out of all the fast food places mentioned, Subway is probably the best place to eat. The proof is actually better than "Super-Size-Me". One takes a look at personal responsibility (Jared and Subway). The other takes a look at just taking everything fast food has to offer. The only thing "Super-Size-Me" proved is that as long as people don't even try to control themselves, they'll get bigger. Some other lady actually managed to lose weight on an all McDonald's diet, so take "Super-Size-Me" with a huge grain of salt.
Ummm... McDonald's Diet??? *LOL* Yes, one BigMac per day and a diet coke makes you healthy, wealthy and wise...
I can´t imagine how big the laughter would be if McDonald's would try such a marketing gag here.
Nevertheless, it's funny how fast McDonald's reacted to Super-Size-Me by introducing salads, trying to shake off the negative image. Imagine, SALADS!!!!! WHAT AN INNOVATION!!!
McDonald's diet. Two people lost about 30 pounds each, eating nothing but McDonald's.
McDonald's had salads for years before Super-Size-Me came out. The only thing Super-Size-Me did was make McDonald's try to inform people more about their salads. They're not trying to shake off a negative image from Super-Size-Me, they're trying to avoid a lawsuit, something people love doing in this country.
Yeah, because 50% of your gas price is tax. Take away all those taxes and our gas prices start to become about the same.
So what if we drive big cars. Yeah, maybe people shouldn't be driving around in giant cars that they don't need, but they're free to do that. It hits them in the pocket book everytime they fill up. I'm sure I can buy a car here that wouldn't be "ridiculously expensive" to drive over there. I obviously wouldn't buy an SUV though.

Just look at the gas prices you had when I was in San Francisco in October this year. 2,35$ per gallon!!!! Do you know how expensive fuel here in Europe is? 7$!!!!!! Look at the cars you drive. You are literally throwing energy away and flushing it down the toilet! Why? Because you can still afford it. Driving an American car in Germany is ridiculously expensive.

We don´t have our own fast food chains. The only fast food chains here are American. We used to have one (Wiener Wald), but it fell into obscurity when McDonald´s became popular among the youth here in the 80's and 90's.
Nevertheless, the most popular fast food in Germany is Turkish, and called Döner Kebap. Not the Bratwurst.....
And I sincerely hope you don't compare Restaurants here with fast food chains. I don't know what Restaurants you have over there...
I was not talking about fast food chains exclusively. I wasn't comparing them with restaurants either. I was simply making the statement that you could in fact do the same thing (gain lots of weight) by only eating out at restaurants if you don't pay attention to what you eat. It doesn't matter where you eat the junk food if that's all you're eating.

Because you are being ignorant. Before, I thought you were making statements based on facts. Now, I can tell your statements are only based on negative talking points. You haven't actually done any research on what you've posted about. If you'd bother to spend a few minutes googling around about the stuff you posted about, you'd see that you've got most of it wrong.
I'm sure I can dig up plenty of crap about Germany. I just don't see the necessity to do it. I'll continue to go off topic as long as you continue to make grossly invalid statements in an "us" vs "them" tone.

Uh, no, shame on OCP. As much as I want to see SWCE 2.0, I'm not going to pay anyone more than $5 for a DL disc (label and case or not). DL discs cost me about $1.50 and my DVD cases are about 25 cents a piece. Add in the label and ink and the cost is no more than about $5. Asking for more money to cover your time or your bad burns is wrong. As the admins have said, fix your hardware, don't try to be compensated for it by everyone else. You're suppose to be doing these edits out of love for the movie, not to make money. That's not even mentioning the fact that Star Wars is still copyrighted by LFL. I don't care if it takes someone 100 days to do a fan edit. The only person that really has any right to make any money from it is George Lucas himself.
I've personally only ever sent out a couple of discs to one person here before, but I can honestly say that I will never charge more than the materials and shipping. Shipping a DVD (SL or DL) with a label in a case costs just under $2, so that's still less than the $10-$20 he wanted for it.
I wish OCP good luck in the future, but shame on him for trying to sell fan edits to cover his time and bad burns.

The easy and probably best route was to go for the Laser Disc-quality DVD's, which they decided to do.
You have to realize that it would take a considerable amount of time to clean the negatives, and then start restoring them. That takes a *lot* of time.
So the fans didn't have to wait forever, they went ahead with the Laser Discs. It is sort of like being very hungry before dinner, and eating something small to hold yourself over. That is why I believe the original negatives are being restored as we speak. The eventual results will be the actual dinner, and these Laser Disc-quality ones we have right now are just to hold us over.

Um, wasn't the negative scanned in and cleaned for the SE? Wait, don't tell me. They scanned it, cleaned it, and then modified it before making a backup copy, right?

Not really. He's a smuggler by trade, so he needs to know a lot of dialects. Huttese is one of the major languages of the underworld, so it's no wonder he knows that one. Wookiee is a bit more complex obviously, but given enough time he probably figured out what most of it meant.

Well, I for one am not convinced that nationalism is a bad thing. However, that doesn't mean I think everyone that's not an American is stupid. Technology has brought us all closer together. 15 years ago, this exchange would've taken place on a local BBS and the spelling would have been changed, perhaps unnecessarily. Today, none of us really knows where the original poster is posting from until they tell us. Now, instead of attacking each other, we can learn from each other. Except the French of course, they'll just surrender (it's a joke people

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the Google ads have changed pretty significantly from all the talk about Germany and Nazis (I'm sure that didn't help).

I wouldn´t dare calling someone a Nazi for this reason. You know what a Nazi is? You know what Nazis did to people? I hate it when people use this word so lightly, as if Nazis were just "overly correct", fun spoiling people.
You see, it´s easy for anyone to make oneself look very ignorant.
I'm very well aware of what the nazis did Vigo and I don't take the term lightly. I used a common internet term to illustrate a point.
As soon as this word is used as a common term for annoying people, it is losing its true meaning. This is what´s bothering me. The same goes for "terrorist".
And I agree with you. The same can be said of racism or any other word. Everytime someone cries it out for a small incidence, it loses its meaning a little more.
Anyway, it looks like I touched a nerve and I'm sorry for that. My intent was to point out that you assumed a "lazy american" didn't know anything. Well, this "lazy American" has been beyond his country's borders (Japan and Mexico, I don't usually count Mexico). And no, I didn't look for a McDonald's when I got to Japan. This "lazy American" enjoyed your post, but I didn't enjoy your generalized attack on my nationality.

But there's really no reason to bring up any of this. I'm sure every country in the world has some sort of dark past. Most countries learn from their mistakes and try to get along with everyone else.
Maybe you should educate yourself on some of the "international treaties" that we're "violating" and not just watch the nightly news in your country.
Ok, perhaps I should be more confident in what political leaders are saying, right?

No. Look it up for yourself. A majority of Americans get their news from the evening news. I get mine from the internet, talk radio, and other sources. Just don't take everything you hear or read from the BBC (or wherever you get your news) at face value. No matter how bad the news sometimes looks, there's always either a reason or the story has been twisted beyond belief.
You're probably right that most Americans are fat, lazy, slobs (statistically it's not true though). Generalizing about all of us though is just as bad as using the terms the way we do ("grammar nazi" and all that). All we can do is educate ourselves and the people we come in contact with. As Obi Jeewhyen said, he asked for a correction, not a smackdown. Since we can only control ourselves and not those around us, I suggest that we simply learn from this and try to take things a bit easier next time.
This entire thread blew up because two people didn't know that the word was spelled differently in your country and one person felt the need to point out a different spelling. I even looked it up on Google and dictionary.com to see if there was a different British spelling (didn't know you were German). Having not found it, I simply assumed you meant restoration. Now that all this has come up though, I'm better for it since I know you said what you meant and that it is spelled differently in your country. You seem to be extremely upset about some other things as well, but I don't think we need to get into that here.
If you wish to discuss any of this in private, feel free to PM me or email me at jedimcg at gmail dot com. BTW, this message was hellishly difficult to edit, so I'm sorry if the quoting is a bit off.
Now can we please get back on topic?

I'm very well aware of what the nazis did Vigo and I don't take the term lightly. I used a common internet term to illustrate a point. I personally can't stand it when someone goes out of their way to correct spelling and grammar when they know what the intent is behind the message. I've seen enough "nazis" in my lifetime on the net to know that those people are very annoying. Most people either let themselves be corrected or they go out of their way to make spelling/grammar mistakes so the other person will just give up.
Now that I've read all the messages, I can see that you're not the only one with an axe to grind. I'll put my comments about Germany's dark past on hold. Maybe you should educate yourself on some of the "international treaties" that we're "violating" and not just watch the nightly news in your country.
This is 4 years old (I'm looking for current statistics right now), but it's still interesting http://www.pbs.org/now/science/fit.html
For the record, the original reply was simply "wow". Obi Jeewhyen is the one that provided a correction along with an explanation of his correction. He also provided a polite request for correction if he was indeed wrong. No attack was necessary on anyones part. Now that this thread has been completely derailed, it should be locked.

You're either totally serious or totally jacking around. This looked like it was going to be an awesome retelling of the OT and now it seems that it was nothing more than a distraction for you.
So, how fun is it to get through endless levels of Doom 3 doing the same thing over and over again? If you're going to play a tech demo, at least play something like Lost Coast that actually features new tech and different things happening throughout the game. It may only last 15 mins, but it's an awesome 15 mins.
EDIT: Looks like I posted long after your reply. I do hope you continue this. It's a lot of fun to see it.

Nah, LFL would just call it a "deliberate creative decision"

EDIT: I have to ask. Is the set anamorphic? I know it should be a given, but I can't find any information on it. Everything just says widescreen.

The TOTJ (Tales of the Jedi) series is one of the best series they've had. It starts out strong and gets weaker as the series continues, but the first 5 issues are very good. The same can be said of Dark Empire. The first 6 issues (Dark Empire I) are very good. DE II and Empire's End get progressively worse (the Emperor keeps coming back again and again and again). DE II and Empire's End are kind of like most of the EU novels, super weapon after super weapon. That gets old after a while.
The X-Wing series is probably the best series they've ever done though. The comics lead right into the novels, which is kind of cool since once you finish the comics, you can go right into the books.
