I figure most will. You can always use the digital version as a proxy and swap it out with the full-bitrate BR in a couple weeks if you want to get to work right away.
I use traditional proxies for 4k but never tried replacing the actual source file mid-edit. I’m concerned the BRrip frames might not perfectly match up. Did this work for you before?
Another nice idea. I was planning on having some of the Exegol scenes moved later but in flashback. But having a race of both sides to Exegol is interesting. You can still have some kind of Kijimi revelations because Kylo is in communication with Palpatine. He just hasn’t physically been to Exegol to man and retrieve the fleet.
Hey there Darth Sadifous. The dialogue should be improved. If you have any specific ideas please share. Here’s a possible fix (note I’m removing all dialogue about Palpatine from Poe’s intel briefing scene):
Boolio: Someone has been hiding in the Unknown Regions.
Finn: Who?
Boolio: Don’t know. The First Order is searching for a planet there.
Finn: How do we thank you?
Boolio: End the war.
It’s odd how when Star Wars shows a planet it can only be ocean or desert or lava. One planet can have different climates; we live on one of those. But maybe that’s too much reality.
Does anyone have a speech cloner app set up and successfully running? I tried one and ran into too many errors with the python libraries.
Oscar Isaac has a very distinct voice and switching between a voice actor and his real dialogue would likely be somewhat jarring. The alternative is to redub his entire scene which is also very likely to be noticeable. Also the lines added are not game changers. You could accomplish almost the same thing with just cuts.
I’d obviously love to see more…and more…and more but Im not sure what else you can do to improve it from here?

Well Luke and Leia by the end of TROS are clearly the parents she never had. So if you want “just Rey” also probably cut the two ghosts hanging around there spectating.
It’s not bad to have Ben’s voice— just not saying “let go.” Luke can’t die still a learner. He has to become a master. I think it’s just a lonely, solitary death on the mountain that might feel incomplete but that’s the exact death Luke was prepared for. He just got it saving the galaxy instead of hiding from it.
Taking the name Skywalker reinforces the idea Rey finally found the family she’s always wanted (including Leia, Ben, Luke) and completes her journey. And we’ve reached episode 9 so it’s really time for this journey to be complete.
Looking at the sunset would be a more subtle form.
If this were a quirky indy film sure leave it open ended with “just Rey.”
At some point the farm boy from Tatooine needs to grow up and make his own wise decisions. And finally he did—-when he projected himself across the galaxy, sacrificing his life. Having Ben or Yoda or whoever pipe up and guide him at that point would undercut his final arc.
Rogueleader I do find your option 7 tempting and maybe that will be good enough. That would probably take me less than a week to produce. But I like the combination of option 4 (Rey killed her parents) and 6 (Rey has visions of her friend’s deaths). Option 6 is very feasible because it just involves re-cutting existing material. I plan to try to do a proof of concept with a scene of Kylos’s masked dialogue. If it looks promising then I might try Option 4 and 6 along with my concept of Kylo destroying Corellia in one of the opening scenes to try and stop his haunting memories of his father.
Ochi could be cut out of the film completely, Its really the ship that has any significance to Rey, her seeing it triggers something in her that slowly unravels her memories, it would also be kinda poetic for her do declare “I killed my parents” as you suggested on the same ship that they were on.
Again great idea for Rey to kill her parents, sorry I didn’t pick up on it much earlier in another thread. It’s so much better than the screenplay where Kylo killed them.
Proposed background (this doesn’t all have to be portrayed or spoken of in an edit):
The Emperor senses the power of young Rey and has Snoke order her killing.
Snoke sends Kylo, age 16 to find Rey.
The Emperor also dispatches his own agent, Ochi to find Rey.
Rey’s parents sell her for drinking money before Ochi ever finds her.
As Rey’s parents depart in the ship, Rey in a fit of rage forces the ship down and it crashes, killing them.
Kylo arrives to find Rey bringing down the ship, she goes unconscious. He feels a connection with her.
Kylo lets Rey live, buries the parents bodies to hide the evidence, and lets Rey go.
I think it would put Rey on an even footing with kylo on an emotion level, in the hanger scene you can have Kylo tell Rey “we are heirs of the darkside and we will take it’s throne” really lean in on the similarities between them -the “dyad”. this would make the ending far more impactfull (especially if we make ben live) as we have them both reject their innate darkness and begin a new future with the light- it rhymes.

This will require a lot of modified Kylo dialogue.
Also the ship is ALREADY different in the TFA flashback. We could use the TFA flashback ship to replace the changed TROS flashback ship.
If the ship is going to be different in the flashback why does Ochi’s ship even need be in the movie. Could it be completely removed in the edit?
The exterior shots of the ship shouldn’t be cut because this would be a bit weird-- Poe and the gang going inside a ship we never see. The ship could not be cut entirely (exterior and interior) because the whole reason for going to Pasanna is this ship. Also a few key plot points happen on Pasanna and at the ship.
Ochi can’t use the force, he kills people with daggers, and flies around in lackluster ships. The only need for him in the edit is Rey’s hunt for the McGuffin I mean wayfinder.
In any newly crafted scenario having the parent’s crashed ship show up later as repaired will feel off and require some very silly acrobatic explanations.
Having them be different ships is more realistic it’s a model WTK-85A interstellar transport after all. Plus the square front end/sides ship in Rey’s TFA vision does not match the round front end/sides of Ochi’s ship in TROS. So it’s really not a hard sell it’s a different ship. You just cut the dialogue where Rey says she has seen the ship before.
