I had an idea for the first Knights of Ren scene when Kylo Ren is getting his helmet reconstructed. I read somewhere that that scene was originally intended to be a ritual, so maybe having all of the Knights saying that line together… maybe with someone being a little louder than the others. I don’t know how feasible it would be, but almost making it like chanting.

Eh, I don’t love the line, but I’d prefer to leave it as is so you don’t have to awkwardly cut away when he delivers it. I also think the “Secrets only the Sith knew” line was fine. I question the logic in cutting things like this unless there’s a specific narrative purpose.

I went ahead and mocked up trying to fix Poe’s somehow line… it is only a first version so I’m still coming up with ideas but here is the link. I also removed the “Secrets only the Sith knew…” I’ve never personally had an issue with the line but it might be nice to see what it looked like.

That fight is not worthy of Duel of the fates feels very out of place, just gonna be honest.

I always thought Battle of Heroes works better here… although I think that someone made a custom song out of Kylo and Rey’s themes, likes pages and pages ago… it was a pretty neat concept too

@kewlfish while I totally agree with you on this point when it comes to most of the other movies, I feel TROS and TLJ needed some heady handed reworking to put right. If only we had delete TROS scenes but saying that I think every one has done a Stirling job at recreating amazing new ones. 😃

Of course, I also really enjoy watching drastic edits too, just to see what’s possible… more Star Wars is always 👌. Look forward to seeing everybody’s edits tbh

That’s my usual style; I would like for this to be something that truly could have been projected in place of the original and not cause any more problems. And I will certainly join anyone in hoping someone goes further with more changes and ideas past this “safe” starting place. It’s not that I like this movie better than the others, just that there’s not a lot of wiggle room to finesse without taking it to territory I’m not big on. I still hope to do a ‘Rey Nobody’ edit once the world can see Dominic’s work on that front.

On my way home from work now… hope to watch the workprint soon. I’m a pretty big Canon guy (never experienced Legends material other than Kotor and Force Unleashed) and that’s one of the main reasons I love Hal’s edits is that you can just essentially put these films in place of the original with very few continuity issues. Everything that has been done in this forum has fixed pretty much all of my gripes with the film, other than having deleted scenes… it really goes to show the talent of you all but also with slight modifications, tiny scene replacements and VFX work could have saved this movie for alot of people

When Kylo is telling Rey about her parents, there’s a shot of Ochi’s ship flying away from Jakku. Could just reuse that to imply the heroes’ escape.

Alright here is the second version of the Mustafar clip with bolts re-colored. I had the clip of Kylo on Mustafar open when making this so, I think that I matched the bolts to be as close as possible.

Right back at you! The “there are more us moment” was something that already worked for me in movie but the work you have done with the audio is absolutely incredible. I ama really bad with audio editing so when I see anyone that can do wonders with it, it always amazes me.

And thanks Poppa! I was doing the color correction from memory. I thought it looked atleast pretty similar but I haven’t put the clips back to back with each other to see if it is similar. MoviesRemastered and I were discussing possibly trying to make the actual blaster bolt whiter so that it makes it less monotone. If anyone wants to use this clip (credit to Lillian and MoviesRemastered of course) it is in my drive with the fix.

Fantastic work Jonh, the talent that you have shown is legendary!!! That’s Hollywood level work right there.

On another note, here is a first draft of something that I am working on for MoviesRemastered. If anyone plans to use the Battlefront II footage, I know alot of people have said the blue lasers take them out, so I attempted to change the lasers to the same color as the Mustafarians. Still needs work but looks pretty good I think.

Yeah, this really should have been a two-parter. Part I ends with Palpatine rejuvinated with the Sith Fleet unleashed and Part II spans a galaxy wide WAR.

2/3 year time jump. The Capital Has been taken by the Sith.
Rey and now Jedi Knight Ben Solo Rebuild the Jedi Order. Finn, Poe and Rose go behind enemy-lines, Storm-Trooper Revolution, Retaking The Capital, All that Jazz.
Ending on a Climactic Duel between the Jedi and the Sith at the former Jedi Temple (now Sith- Eternal Base).
Throw in a young Palpatine clone and you’re set for a duel that will end all duels.

As much as I think Terrio is a hack, I believe he actually wanted a two-parter… or atleast I think I read that when the slew of information came out after release.

Except the area is rubble at this point and there’s no ships above getting zapped, so the background looks pretty different if you move this scene up. I don’t disagree this is a cool idea though. May just look out of place without some additional vfx.

I think kewlfish did a nice job with that aspect, at least for a mockup. You’re right though, the background would have to be blurred a little and the lighting would have to match Palpatine’s Lightning.

Yeah, I still really like this concept. In addition to adding lightning to the background when Rey is looking down at Ben, I have just a few suggestions that I think would make the idea work even better.

1. When Ben picks up Rey’s body, he briefly looks off to the left. Perhaps when that happens, slip in a shot of Palps shocking the fleet, so it’s more apparent that he’s completely distracted.
2. We can’t cut out “Rey, the Force will be with you. Always.” which kewlfish’s concept does. Instead, keep that dialogue in (audio only), and have Leia’s “Always” synced up with when Rey’s hand moves and she grabs Ben’s.
3. I don’t think it’s necessary to keep the POV in space for the entire duration of the voices. Instead, just cut back and forth between space, Rey’s eyes, and reuse the shot of Ben holding her.

Also, not exactly a suggestion, but kewlfish’s concept has the unfortunate side effect of cutting out some of the other Jedi voices. So if there were a way to preserve those, I think the idea would work flawlessly.

Yeah, I am very bad at editing sound (especially voices… for whatever reason I am not good with 5.1 audio editing) lol… I mainly put the the Jedi Voices in my edit to see how it would look with the voices in… if someone made a better version of my edit I would hope 100% that all of the Jedi voices would be in thaf scene.

Also, love the ideas of switching between space and Rey’s eyes and the glance of Palpatine when Kylo looks to the left. 😀

ANH, RoTJ and RO space battles all had stakes and better pacing. As soon as the armada shows up, there is no more tension. The easiest fix that would require hardly any work would be to cut Lando’s scene until after Uncle Palps is dead as well… then it would be more believable that they came at the last second and finished off the fleet… maybe

Thanks for putting this together. I just finished watching it. It’s nice to see all the contributions coming together into a fully formed ending.

I wish there is something more that could be done about the space battle/ “ground battle”. It just seems like there are no stakes at all and Lando’s arrival is so deus ex machina. Perhaps we could cut the wide shot of the armada’s arrival as it’s a bit overwhelming and so unconvincing that Lando rallied that many ships in so little time after no one answered the call one movie prior. While I do get goosebumps at that scene, when creating this edit, I literally thought to myself “man how did all of those ships get through that nebula?”

And thank you! It was really awesome to see all of these scenes (even in the rough state that they were in) in one place.

For your consideration:

• I chose Jonh’s clip that has a purple lightsaber, I know that Rey doesn’t use the purple all the way through but I didn’t know of any other available clips that changed the color all the way through.
• Rey hearing all of the Jedi’s voices is included but it definitely needs some work. It seems a little redundant with the Jonh’s clip maybe?
• Audio cuts are a little rough
• I wasn’t able to add the new Rey Skywalker line delivery or Poppa’s last falcon shot as they are not yet available for public use… just, uh, imagine that they are there lol

What do you all think? Its kind of a long clip lol

Then she stands up to face Palps and then after she defeats him, THAT’S when we see Ben and Leia fade away. That way we avoid having to add more ghosts to the scene. But boy it would be nice if Rey’s master was actually behind Rey as she finally defeats Palpatine. Moving Ben’s sacrifice & resurrection of Rey is a smart idea not only for the reasons you just laid out, but because it makes this heroic culmination of the “be with me” set-up at the beginning that much stronger, with Ben AND Leia actually being with her (along with Luke, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin) when she destroys the Sith once and for all.

(I guess compositionally if you’re adding both Ben AND Leia you still get the symmetry the shot currently has - it’d just be 3 on each side instead of 2)

As it stands, it’s a bit of a dramatic failing that when Rey destroys the sith and achieves her ultimate victory, the two people closest to her at the time aren’t anywhere nearby, either spiritually or physically.

At the very least we could use some dialog (Ben possibly? Although his force ghost scene at the end might be enough). I think Leia said “The Force is with you, always”, this may work when Rey is blocking the lightening.
