That’s another reason I favor just starting the film with Kylo having it and mentioning in the crawl that he discovered it because Smoke somehow.

I like that too, I kind of don’t want the Mustafar thing. Heck, you can even take out the whole “Vader” section of it. It can be change Kylo found it in Snokes stuff or something. Whichever, in my mind I’d like to not have the movie start with it, it was more confusing than anything.

I should add about my above comment about the Star Wars trilogy with PT edits in mind, such as Hal’s PT edits which are my go to. (I can’t remember when I watched the original edits of the PT.)

Now I need to rewatch that again and see about removing it. I know he added the line from Qui-Gon … I would not remove that and Yoda’s comment about training Obi Wan.

Anyway, I didn’t mean to derail the thread about PT stuff, but more of trying to connect this movie (and heck, the original trilogy due to the whole “Ghost Training” debate) to go about changes that can be easily made to help overall.

Lol, yeah, haha! The simplest thing though is to remove the whole training thing in Revenge of the Sith. Here’s the question: Is it needed?

If you remove that, it takes away the whole: "How did BLANK turn to a ghost without/presumedly without such training?

The audience can then assume this if watching the movies: Jedi turn(or can turn) to Force Ghosts/Voices and Sith kind of have a reincarnation/Transfer/Avatar style thingy. No need for further explanation since you see it for yourself.

The Anakin thing is the “created” elephant in the room. If you just watch the the first two trilogies … you kind of have to “assume” Anakin could cuz … you know, chosen one reasons. I still don’t like it though … it would have been better if Lucas just never got into that whole explanation/training/whatever. Just leave it be.

Oh well.

I am definitely in category of “Movie canon” and making sure the audience is understanding the ideas. I personally hate introducing outside material … especially from sources that have a lot of corn in it. (Like Rebels)

Unfortunately this may not be the movie we wanted, but gotta go with what is really feasible to achieve. Even if it is trying to shave off as much corn/fat/dum dum, etc.

Good … Good … Looking forward to see those last bit of tweaks!

I get what you mean about timing and all about the “walker legs” could be problematic. Hiding them would be easier, I get your direction.

I took a look at the scene and the walker with the “preparing to fire stance” shows it is much farther away from the “Death Ram” so erasing it from Finn’s cockpit view would both “fix” the issue AND it makes logical sense.

If you all take a look, you’ll see the walker is much further away than what it shows in Finn’s cockpit corner.

I know what you mean about trying to bring more to the climax … but you kinda can’t. There isn’t a personal between Rey and Palps. They tried to with the “Force Ghosts of Jedi’s pass” but it kinda fell flat, to be honest.

There could have been more of a personal connection with the climax if Kylo did the “Sith Sacrifice/Power Transfer” and it was a battle between Kylo(Sith Avatar) and Rey. That would have done it.

Anyway, sorry if this is becoming more of a Star Wars discussion instead of editing … not sure what can be done to add more to the climax to mean something, personally.

Like many things, the movie doesn’t explain things and/or leaves things so vague up in the air.

Interesting idea and all, I am surprised they didn’t add something like that in the movie, even if they were all just standing behind her or something.

Then again … even story wise wouldn’t you not be able to see many of them since they didn’t get the, erm, Force Ghost Training? Of course, that in itself has a large hole enough that Anakin was able to do it. I guess because he is Force Messiah he can bypass that. Then again … I think that whole thing is a can of worms to explore further in.

Speaking of the whole Anakin thing … I want his line removed about bringing balance back like he did. As much as I didn’t like the whole “chosen one” concept introduced in the PT, it seems this movie kind of said “Welp, that Chosen One and him balancing the Force amounted to nothing.”

Oh wait … what if Disney is now saying “Anakin wasn’t the Chosen One, it’s Rey! Girl Power! Force is Female! So scratch the first two trilogies of his importance!”

Regardless, I guess the whole “balancing of the force” has been kind of a hot mess. Maybe going back to the PT edits and remove the Chosen One thing would be better. Never liked that direction anyway. Would that help the cohesion in a sense? Just remove that aspect? It was silly before … but now the new trilogy pretty much deflates it even more.

I think you can fairly easily cut out the banter between Finn and Poe. It would tighten up that scene a bit, which in itself could be a good thing.

Since there is NO ultimate satisfaction on “what Finn wanted to say” in the movie, it would be better to remove all of it.

Sigh … when you have to explain things in a tweet or a book for MAJOR plot elements or unanswered questions … you know you are doing something wrong in a movie.

^^^ Hahah, if one could do it, perfectly though, it would be funny the “old” AT-AT does shoots down Finn’s speeder when the “brand new ones” can’t do it.

However, that would require a lot of work to make it match the scene and quality … which would probably not be worth it.

I’d love the “funny-ness” about it, but it would probably be way too much work to make it look perfect. Poppa has done AMAZING stuff, but that would take up way too much time and resources to do properly.

Its amazing how seamless this is, Im sure something can be done with Adam Drivers voice to this affect.

Something like that using Mask Kylo/Adam Driver’s voice could be done almost seamlessly since you would have it distorted anyway. So lines with his mask on would be easier to manipulate if need be.

Now about the music cue with the shuttle … I totally get what people are saying. I think the music cue/timing should almost be a swap with how things transition with “Rose and Finn Scene” and “Dead Snoke Scene.” Essentially, the music cue that is a soft transition goes to Rose/Finn and the “sharp” cut should go to the Dead Snoke part of the scene. Basically a swap that fits more naturally with what’s going on.

I know I am terrible at writing … but does that make any sense?

Otherwise, as I’ve said before Poppa it is AMAZING what you are accomplishing. Just, amazing.

If the music stuff can’t be done well, it still works as is.

This edit is so much better than what we’ve scene in theaters. Seriously.

Poppa, great job with the latest videos! Changing the “targeting” makes the logical conclusion in the person’s mind when watching the crash scene. It’s little things like that that perfects thing. Marvelous!

Also, the same thing with the particles. You know how my eyes work and all, I see the difference in those two. Very nice. Even before when you added those effects it helped tie things in nicely.

It just keeps getting better and better.

Also, what about adding an Obi Wan line? I still don’t get the rationale for including this.

It isn’t necessary at all or adds anything helpful, it would be more distracting than anything, personally.

Recall too, Kylo/Ben already established in the movie previously between the first “force call/connection” with Rey that such a feat (Force Projection or whatever), the effort would kill a person (Jedi/Sith/Whatever.) So there literally is no need for someone/something to tell Luke after he does it to “let go” or “It’s ok, you can die now” or something.

I’m always up for hearing ideas and whatnot … but I respectfully couldn’t get behind it.

Ultimately the issue was lack of direction and not having a strong lead to oversee the direction of all three movies to make sure they are cohesive … instead of leaving it up to each director to do whatever they heck they want regardless of what happened. It’s like the opposite of Marvel’s style, which is why the Marvel cinematic universe is working.

Anyway, not to derail this into a discussion that doesn’t fit the thread for this fan edit as opposed to the other discussion threads, I am curious if any new ideas has come up with attempting a realistic Rey Nobody. I am on the fence still about it, but curious if there is any decent leads.

I’d take cloning over “survival” any day.

In ways, I k i n d a get the direction they were going since Palps was so relevant in the first two trilogies. Especially with the prequels about the whole life and death thing … so I k i n d a get what they were going for.

The main issue, as many many many people have broughten up is both the execution and the lack of cohesion in the new trilogy. I am working hard not to be completely sour about it and work with what we go. It may not be the trilogy we asked for, but it is what we deserve.

Lol, I say this very jokingly since there was so much dissapointment about the prequels. And people wanted the next trilogy to feel more like the original movies, but there was some disappointment about TFA being too similar to ANH. So then TLJ went to do something different, but then there was hatred there.

Regardless, I think there is something that cane be salvaged to at least make it more entertaining to watch. As I’ve said before, with HAL’s edits of the prequels, I enjoy watching those a lot … so it can be done!
