As for the medallion plan … that a toughy. The current depiction of it still favors on being a fan servicy thing then a purposeful thing. Too bad JJ didn’t build it up better to be more than just a fan service/“Chewy finally got his medal” sort of thing. Heck, even having something that showed Leia going through a box of Han’s stuff (Maybe his jacket is in there, nod to TFA comment) and take it out of that. So it becomes more of a keepsake or a reminder of when Han went from a smuggler to a rebel hero. So then later, Chewy got Leia’s keepsake of Han, last of Leia’s possessions, to remember them both by. … and not just a “finally getting his medal.”

Good work on both of them, I can see the way to really help them “jive” together are the implementations of adding trees to the first and maybe more lava, if possible, with the fly over. That way they feel like they come from the same place. Probably adding some trees or a forest in the castle shot would be enough.

Those are all good changes/fixes to the movies. I agree there’s some love in these movies … just need to “trim the fat” with them. Based on your cutlist/alterations it’s pretty more or less the agreed about necessities to help out these movies.
An interesting idea that stuck out is #3 from Revenge of the Sith about Anakin not threatening Palps. Curious to see how it flows, since one thing that sticks out would be how Mace and the other’s ‘know’ that Palps is the Sith they’ve been looking for, since Anakin revealed that to them.
That would be a good look.
Man it would be a lot of work, but if someone could vfx some trees (doesn’t have to be a lot) near the castle, it could show “nature taking over” from it being unused for so long and help it blend in. Same goes with the “valley” at teh end of the shot to add more of a forest … which may not be as hard since it’s not a close up and lasts not too long? (Me saying that who has never done this before 😛)

I think it’s the angle and the design of it. On the corners, it has a section that bulges out.

Is it the similar/same as with Hal’s? (Sorry I lose track) since his does implement the “broadcast” but it definitely comes across as more transmission then … announcement. Lol.

I wish I had some skill to help out, but that is starting to sell if for me. The color change of the castle shot blends in pretty dang well. If a hard core skilled editor can make those last bit of adjustments. (Lights off, maybe make the castle SLIGHTLY in ruins) and add some lava fields or something to the tree shot … that would do it.

I agree if you want to use part of the Fornite Broadcast to make it more like a transmission or even part of a conversation to the FO would be the best use for it since using it as is is more cheese than anything else, personally. It would be great if one could get like a line from either Pryde, Hux, or Kylo saying something and then you hear palp’s response to it/parts of the wording from the broadcast could be good and help sell it. If possible.

As for the Castle shot, although I am still not a huge fan of the “Mustafar Minute,” but if the castle can be implemented and help blend in more trees and “lights off” at the castle shot and more lava/fire in the tree areas … it would really help sell that to me.

I get where you are getting at about the Luke & Rey conversation and your rational on changing it based on Luke’s experience in the OT … but the circumstances are quite different.
For Luke, remember, Obi Wan/Yoda wanted him to face and defeat Vader AKA “Kill your Papa”. Luke did not agree, since he felt there was still good in him and could bring him back.
Palpatine has no good. He’s pure evil, full on Sith. Needs to be destroyed for the the Force to get back to balance.
To be honest, we do not know if Luke WAS able to turn Vader on Endor … would they have gone together to defeat Palps? I dunno.
So I don’t personally see an issue, since we are talking about apples and oranges. IF the scene was about her confronting and destroying Kylo/Ben … then yeah, it wouldn’t have made sense with Luke’s experience. But we are talking about a Jedi needing to take on THE Sith, the one who brings chaos on imbalance. No good in him.

Agreed about the chess scene. I love Easter eggs/cameos IF done right/purpose/not “too showy.” The blaster ball droid thing was fine … in a box of stuff and didn’t linger in that scene. The holo chess was random, lingered, and didn’t add to anything/was more of a “LOOK AT ME.”
Plus we see it in the last movie and its “done right.” No need for it here.

Im curious for a link too. I know this kind of edit won’t be perfectly seem-less, but a fun one regardless and reading some comments, I can try some ideas too … with the limited skill I have! haha!
I actually think a TROS without Palpatine is viable, and joshuabri has come up with a lot of clever ideas to execute it. Sure, it does leave you with some questions, but IMO, not anymore questions than the theatrical film introduces. And I think further ideas could be made to his edit, or future edits, that can help tie up some of those dangling threads that you inevitably get with major cuts.
Sure, it might not give you the bombastic conclusion you get with Rey melting Palpatine’s face off, but I think removing Palpatine as the primary antagonist helps keep Rey and Kylo on certain-stage, giving them more active and interesting journeys. Sure, it wouldn’t replace an edit that stays closer to the theatrical as being a definitive version, but I think you could make a fun alternative that could still maintain a 1hr45min, potentially a 2hr, runtime.
If it was possible and done “smoothly,” I’d much prefer that. IT would help if there are actual deleted scenes and are ever made available. One could wish…
Not bad at all, it’s pretty good implantation and the tracking is done pretty nicely with just a few spots a little off. Right on.
I will say though, it does feel a bit “off” when you see most of her body. It does feel like it’s all too blurry and all especially with the background being blurry too.
If I could think of a suggestion, what if you implement her just first entering into the room when she is moving, basically when most of her body is covered by Finn/bench. Before it cuts to Han, you just see her “head walking in” that shows the audience she is coming into the room.
This allows the “blurry-ness” of Rey moving (just her “floating head” part) and allows you to not have the background/corridor to be blurry.
I’m trying to remember, was Anakin’s crystal broken in half at the end of TLJ, or was it just cracked with a split body?
