I have a Muse player, decoder and hidef capture system. Just don't have any discs. If anyone wants to send me discs, I'll happily capture them.

The hell!? You have the money to buy a Muse player with a decoder and you can't even afford a disc?

I mean, what's the point of buying an expensive outdated and rare Hi-Def system if you do not plan to buy any movie to enjoy it?

Anyway that's good to know, not a bunch of people have this kind of equipement, i'd love to see how Back To The Future looks on a Hi-Vision LD.

Thanks for the offer, if i ever have the chance to get one of these and if i am 100% sure you'll send it back to me... well why not :)

Preserving "French" Original Trilogy - ANH V1.0 released - ESB in progress
Time

Where did you find this? It's awesome! Do you actually own the 16mm prints?

The quality of this ANH print looks quite amazing and judging by the ESB intro we are now sure that the French logos on the laserdiscs are the same as what people saw in the theaters back in the days. Even if it's a 16mm version i suppose it's the same source as the 35mm one.

Thank you for sharing it anyway. I don't know if you've payed attention to this detail but on the Greedo scene, after Han shot on Greedo the background sounds and voices seem to match what we can hear on the TV audio track you sent me some time ago i don't know if you remember.

If you do own the copy it would be nice if you could record the audio from the 16mm film. Maybe via the audio output on the projector.

Is the laserdisc still being preserved in this thread or just the audio now?

What's the point of preserving the LD? I mean, colorwise it's not the best source available since it's kinda pink/blue tinted compared to the DVD.

Well, to be honest i'm not sure which version is the closest to the original theatrical colors.

Sorry, I must have got confused. Earlier back in the thread you posted some samples of the laserdisc video and I wrongly assumed you were doing a capture of the whole laserdisc.

I have the other laserdisc release, and the colour is also not anywhere near as good as the DVD/HDTV/Blu-ray versions.

No problem, i just wanted to show how the colors look on my LD but a full capture of it would be worthless for the moment since it's a French edition and obviously the logos and titles are in French.

By the way, which edition of the LD do you have? It would be interesting to compare these two. The master used is possibly not the same.

A guy on AVS once posted BTTF shots he claimed came from the DCP. Maybe just kidding around and posting WOWOW frames. I don't know how the compression/grain level on that compares.

Damn, this dude seems to have an uncompressed source. Look all the details there is in the picture, it almost looks like a raw 35mm scan of the whole movie.

Preserving "French" Original Trilogy - ANH V1.0 released - ESB in progress

If you search on the internet you'll find a lot of explanations about why the french title was translated to "La Guerre Des Etoiles" instead of "Les Guerres De L'Etoile".

Nowadays, almost everybody says Star Wars. When people are talking about the trilogy or the whole saga, they say Star Wars and specially the younger people. Only some nostalgic people like me or maybe marvins keep saying La Guerre Des Etoiles.

Marvins is right, I remember about that too, when i was a kid we only used to say "LGDE" to talk about the first movie. For the Ep.V & Ep.VI we used to say "L'Empire Contre-Attaque" and "Le Retour Du Jedi".

Even if i was born much much later than marvins i remember seeing the trilogy before they started to destroy it in 97.

Help: Looking for... a good transfer of the first issue Pan And Scan Laserdisc for Star Wars
Time

Google Drive? It works pretty well. The only problem is the 5GB limit but i'm pretty sure your preservation will fit.

Just have to create a fake account with a name like "theoriginaltrilogy" or something like that then give the account name and password to the interested people so we can have access to the file easily.

Yes tis, would that not be easy just rip the blu and use the difference? sure it would not be perfect but it would be better

Better than having a big logo in the top right corner?

Yes obviously but that means compression and quality loss... I'd prefer to avoid this, does anyone know how to do it without using an editing software and loosing quality?
