Another funny fact is the "Widescreen" and "Fullscreen" editions. From what i see, in Germany, England and lots of countries in Europe back in the days, they did have fullscreen versions of almost every movies (including Star Wars.)  In France we've never had one of these. On every VHS, LD, DVD or TV version it's always the correct theatre aspect ratio. Which is a good thing in a sense.

marvins:  Dou you have a flat image of the end french credits? Also, do you have the Greedo french subtitles too?  I would like to have the exact same titles to improve my version. ;)

I'll maybe do that,  i'm going to have an LD player soon and i have a Zoom recorder who actually does an amazing job. I used it to record the 1982 french audio of E.T The Extra-Terrestrial from a VHS.

For the crawl, i used the one from the Special Edition DVD of 2006.  But there was a problem.  At the beginning of this crawl you can read: 

"Episode IV  Un Nouvel Espoir"  so i removed this part of the text by creating a mask on my editing software.

Nice! Do you have by any chance the french stereo audio with a better bitrate than 192 kbps...?  

Hey guys! I'm new on this forum.   I've made a french preservation me too. I just finished it.  Mine is different cause i tried to copy the english titles while keeping the fonts etc...  i was too lazy to make a new crawl so i used the one of the "Special Edition" DVD from 2006  since it's the only source that i have. :)

And for the rest i used the Harmy edition except for the Greedo scene where i used the Special Edition again because it's subtitles free.
