Maybe after the pain has been blunted by time…maybe. 😉

Anyway, on this project I’ve gone back to an earlier concept for the Starkiller Infiltration. The previous iterations all felt too choppy and stitched together, so I’ve consolidated the Mind Trick scenes back into one. The workprint version of the Kylo Falcon scene came after the X-wing attack, which felt strange because it pulled focus away from that action for too long. Besides, it was originally supposed to take place before the fighter attack. Here I’ve returned it to a previous spot after Rey avoids the guards. With the addition of extra dialogue and that establishing shot, I think it works a bit better.

Amazing, all of it.

Only think to nitpick is that the smash cut from Kylo inside the falcon to appearing outside the falcon feels a little abrupt.

Oh, and please tell me you’re cutting the scene in Ep1 when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon use force speed to escape the Droidekas, which isn’t used again in Star Wars, and especially not used when Obi-Wan needs to move fast through the closing forcefields to get to Qui-Gon to save his life.

Correction: Luke uses it to escape the carbonation shaft in ESB.

Personal note: PLEASE DONT

The Mandalorian - a general discussion thread - * SPOILERS *
Time

I have a feeling the overall plot of this season will revolve around the search for Luke’s hidden jedi academy. The only possible place where the “sorcerer knights” could reside. I’d imagine Ashoka is searching for the same thing and so they team up, ending the season on Luke Skywalker’ amazing face 😉

Gad: Have you been keeping Rey’s secret from the beginning. Did you know about the parentage?

Ridley: No. At the beginning there was toying with an Obi-Wan connection. There were like different versions and then it really went to that she was no one.

What’s interesting to me is that there could be alternate cuts of TFA were Rey is explicitly Obi Wan’s granddaughter. I remember it being reported in the trades early on when they were shooting the film. There’s also the fact that Han and Leia seem to know who she is,with the information being deliberately hidden from the audiance. “Who’s the girl?”-cut.

Daisy Ridley on the evolution of Rey’s lineage
https://youtu.be/6ELygTJL8Xg

Gad: Have you been keeping Rey’s secret from the beginning. Did you know about the parentage?

Ridley: No. At the beginning there was toying with an Obi-Wan connection. There were like different versions and then it really went to that she was no one. Then it came to Episode IX and JJ pitched me the film and was like Palpatine’s granddaddy and I was like “Awesome!” Then 2 weeks later he was like “Oh we’re not sure.” So it kept changing. Even while we were filming I wasn’t sure what the answer was going to be.

Edit: This puts the line uttered by Kenobi in TFA into perspective, “Rey…these are your first steps”. It is likely that there were versions of TFA were Rey was explicitly related to Obiwan, and that this line is a remnant of that.

And yeah, it actually looks plausible now that the whole “You are a Palpatine” thing could have been recorded a few weeks before the release in Adam Driver’s closet…

Random, but I’m watching the workprint now.

With the removal of the light speed skipping, Poe says, “How thick do you think that ice wall is?” and then boom, instant light speed and the scene ends. Can we get a shot of his hand on the accelerator or an interior shot of them jumping to light speed or something? It feels way, way too rushed without showing them making the jump.
