My go to ST edit!

At 2 hours 40 mins, Part I of this Duology is as close as I’ve seen to the original Michael Arnt script for episode 7, with the best of TFA and TLJ fanedits tightly focused on Rey/Kylo Ren & Luke Skywalker, capping it off with Yoda’s final lesson at the Jedi tree from TLJ.
The removal of the superweapon from Starkiller Base was seamless as well as the foreshadowing of Palpatine looming presence.

Part II in my opinion is the best at building towards episode 9’s ending as it emphasises Rey’s emotional connection to Luke and Leia throughout, making the Skywalker line more believable (the “be with me” montage is a great example).

Transition between Crait and Mustafar was expertly done using Vader’s helmet.
The only minor inconsistency I see is Rey trying to reach the Jedi of old at the training scene, since the “be with me” thread is more about connecting with Luke and Leia’s energy at the end.

One small addition I would add is this idea from Hals thread as it gives a payoff at least to Finn’s arch in the film, but that is a totally selfish wish on my part.

One of the things I’ve restored is the running gag of Finn wanting to tell Rey something. I think I’ve found a somewhat useful resolution so that plotline can have a proper pay off. If you wanted to simplify it, you could have Finn say “Rey…” through the Force, and Rey responds with “I know.”

Essentially, he’s been trying all this time to tell her how he feels, but in the end, through the Force, he doesn’t need to tell her, because their relationship is empathic and beyond words.

There’s also the callback to Han in ESB, which gives it that hint of romance if viewers want to interpret it that way.

Found an awesome 2.3 h movie edit of the series on Reddit, highly recommended everyone give it a watch.

Honestly don’t think there’s enough story there to warrant 2 movies.

I wonder if it would be possible to change the main focus from the twins to Sol. Start the film with Sols perspective of the events on Brendock and have the twins mainly as the secondary plot…

I think I’d be most interested in an edit of this show which completely removes both flashback episodes, but still includes episode 8 - which it doesn’t look like you’re doing here. I think letting the audience decide what happened that night completely on their own is much more satisfying than whatever the hell all that was. As it stands, Torbin doesn’t have sufficient motivations to end himself, the leader of the coven is to blame for her own death by not explaining her decision upfront, and Sol doesn’t explain himself to Osha for some reason. It’s just so much easier to remove all of this problematic writing and let the audience come up with their own explanations.

One other cool change I’d like to see someone make is shifting the Plagueis cameo to the very end of the edit, so that he is watching Osha and his apprentice instead of just watching their ship take off earlier. I think it would be pretty easy to digitally paint out the ship leaving in that shot. And then completely remove the Yoda cameo, since no matter what she says to him, Yoda either becomes an idiot or complicit in all this.

I agree. Either remove the flash back episodes completely or sprinkle in relevant parts of the flashbacks from the prospectives of Mae and OSHA respectively. At least you could put the excessive wake up shots to use !

If the Acolyte gets a season 2 (big If) I hope they at least change the writers if not the show runner. The story of Darth Plagueis the wise deserves Andor/HBO style drama writing, nothing less.

It’s starting to feel like this show endured heavy reshoots or at the very least was entirely reworked in post. I’m willing to bet episode 7 originally acted as the opening episode. Also would explain the massively inflated budget.

I feel like we’re in for a roshoman scenario that will give us a new perspective on this episode hence why I’m still going to hold back judgement until the end of the season

At first I scoffed at the immense ambition of this edit but after checking it out on recommendation, I have to say, this is as close to Lucas’ sequel trilogy we’re gonna get! Fellas, don’t sleep on this one.

I hope we can get new and improved versions of this edit as time goes by because even as proof of concept it truly touches the essence of the classic EU and George’s mythos.

I do think it kinda works better if he’s trying to put them at odds with one another rather than join together. Especially because Rey’s vision can only possibly show Daisy on the throne, not along with Kylo. Even though they refer to such a thing in the original film, no such footage exists.

What if we dispersed Luke’s dialogues with Kylo throughout the film, especially when Ren is alone.

For example

• when he holds Vader’s helmet he can have an inner dialogue with Luke.
• When he is on exogol on his way to Palpatine.
• When he telepathically talks to palpatine on the star destroyer.

Can we get Luke talking to Kylo somewhere in this film?
I feel like Luke has to make good on the promise “See you around kid” from TLJ. Otherwise we got ourselves another empty chekhov’s gun.

If not for my childhood being inextricably tied to Star Wars, I’d be asking the same question…

Trailer looks intriguing but again, Lighting lighting lighting, looks like a basic flat looking disney show.

From a PR perspective it would have made more sense for the Empire to market Vader as Anakin Skywalker, the hero of the clone wars and the only Jedi loyal to the empire…
