Is there any way of reinstating Hux’s speach?
Is there any way of reinstating Hux’s speach?
“Disney shall pay the price for their apparent lack of vision.”
Box Office: *force choke"
…
Speaking of the ending, here is my very radical outline for an alternate ending of TROS:
We cut away from Rey and Ben before he dies. Rey joins back up with the Resistance and they celebrate.
Fade to black on Celebration.
Fade in on shot similar to first shot of A New Hope. A Resurgent Star Destroyer flies overhead, followed by dozens of Resistance ships chasing it. At the front is a modified Blockade Runner, in the control room sits Poe Dameron. (Or possibly leading the chase in an X-Wing that Poe sits in with BB-8. If he is in his pilot suit, change the color of his jump suit to blue New Republic colors.)I feel him being on the bridge of a ship would clearly visualize his transition to hotshot pilot to responsible leader, but he was still flying an X-Wing during the end battle. Anyway, this could be the moment Poe says something inspirational over the comms that could also help emphasize “General Poe”.
[This would require a fan-film scale production, but I think it is rather straightforward idea-wise]
On the outskirts of a rural village, locals gather outside as three First Order troop transports land nearby. The bay door opens, but instead of stormtroopers we see rescued children rush toward their emotional families. After all the children are out, we insert footage of Finn standing behind them (Potentially either Luke or Leia’s lightsaber is attached to his belt if you keep his Force subplot). This would reflect nicely with how we are initially introduced to Finn, and would bring his arc full circle.Bonus Idea: Have Chewie finally go back home to his family on Kashyyyk. You could just create a modern version of this image, have Chewie step into frame, then cut to a close-up. Chewie deserves more than a goddamn medal at this point!
Finally, we get to Rey. She flies across the dunes of Tattooine and lands outside the abandoned Lars homestead. R2 and 3PO are with her, and still-wiped 3PO says there is something familiar about this place. Rey briefly explores the home, then sits outside and unrolls a cloth full of saber parts. In an insert shot, we see as she uses the Force to construct a new lightsaber. She activates the saber to reveal a yellow blade.
She then senses something ahead of her. The twin suns slowly rise above the horizon, and with them, a silhouette of a figure rising over the hill. It’s Ben Solo. Rey smiles and rises to meet him. The spirits of Luke, Leia and Anakin watch from a distance. Our final shot is of R2, 3PO, and Rey watching the sunrise as Ben slowly approaches.
We could start a go fund me, I’m sure fans would be more than happy to donate.
At this point Disney would be wise to release an Extended cut a la Batman v superman which actually redeemed that film for many people.
Maybe when Luke is teaching Rey her first lesson we can see flashes of the Sith temple while she talks about “a dark place”
Maybe we should have seen or heard someone (or a few people) in the background listening to a recording of Palpatine’s message in a scene at some stage in the film? Maybe it was this that finally insprired or scared people throughout the galaxy to take up the fight against him and the FO?
Maybe one of you talented people will conjure up something? 😃
(Or simply change the crawl 😉)

Why for the love of god did they not add this in?
I agree, It will take a trilogy edit to make a coherent story out of this mess.
The bright side of this travesty is that now Disney will never make another Star Wars trilogy without planning it out in advance.
The pacing was comical, every scene that was meant to be emotional was immediately cut short before letting the audience feel anything.
Please avoid spoilers when talking about TROS as the majority in this sub have yet to see the film.
looked like it was intended to be a 3 hour finale, I hope we will get more footage with the blue ray release.
Oh yeah I can see this film being the subject of fan edits for a very long time.
There is plenty to like so I hope you enjoy it, looking forward to hear your thoughts.
After watching the film here are my (non-spoiler) thoughts/critiques:
-The overall story is very ambitious and has a lot of heart but the plot is just too convoluted.
-Pacing is really all over the place.
-A lot of unnecessary exposition.
-This film felt like it was meant to be a 3 hour movie, scenes are never allowed to breath, cut short and slapped together to fit in a short run-time, I can’t wait to see the deleted/extended scenes on blue ray because this film needs more fleshing out.
Overall I think somewhere inside TROS there is a solid film, now its our job to try salvage it.
Looks like we got a lot of work to do.
That’s a good place to start.
I think it is only appropriate since its the eve of the release.I will be seeing it in a few hours anyway so might as well.

A quick reminder that the Star Wars Preservation and Star Wars Fan Edit sections of the site are NOT the places to bash on certain eras or aspects of the films, actors, film-makers or owners - or any perceived ‘agendas’ or politics thereof.
There are far more relevant threads in the Beyond the Original Trilogy or General Star Wars Discussion sections of the site to talk about this.
Critiquing a scene in the Star Wars Fan Edits section with the aim of improving it, removing it, altering it etc is perfectly fine. Statements such as ‘Disney sucks’ and ‘this film is so shit no Fan Edit can save it’ is not.
Fan Editors, Preservationists and members do not want the same sort of repeated comments and discussions in the ‘Fan Project’ areas - especially when they’ve already taken place (and continuing) in other more relevant sections of the site, as linked to above.
Do you guys think it would be possible to integrate this deleted scene (https://youtu.be/UzeIb-TZo_I) with the original fight in the TLJ?
I think for the average viewer it would be too long and confusing, maybe using quick flashes of the the saber’s history like Anakin screaming in the lava and younglings being killed, Luke’s temple burning ending with the island would be a more concrete illustration of why Rey fears taking up the weapon at the same time forshadowing the future.
So I’m probably going to stick with the original cut, unless I dub Snoke into a foreign Alien language and subtitle him. Kylo Ren/Ben knowing his language would be plausible, having been under his command for recent years.
If I should pursue either of these ideas, I would have to start work; tonight.
I want these two edits out the same day that Rise of Skywalker releases. They’ve been in the works for too long. I want people to experience these two films as much more original pieces to the Star Wars saga than what they were presented as.
I think the best thing to do is to either stick with the original or to find a voice actor with a spot on Snoke impression.
I’m not saying you do a bad voice impression of Snoke,I just think its noticeably different and it might be a little jarring for some.

- For this sequence; audio is not completely finished (cleaned up), and I want a better Rey to Kylo transition. I might also change the soundtrack.

Have in mind that none of these clips are fully completed, but very near.
OFFICIAL UPDATES:
- Luke has his original saber (green) during the Kylo confrontation.
- All the SW films have a saber duel, so I’ve borrowed Snoke’s Guard’s sequence with lightsabers. However, I might give them different colors (perhaps they all have purple instead of red, or two of them with purple and the rest red).
Oh its beautiful.
Agreed, I think faster and more intense is the way to go, maybe something akin to PTSD flashbacks.
That would be a game changer.
