Oh I agree. Personally I’m leaning more towards IIFaneditor’s concept, except I would change the dialogue so that it goes like this.

“what’s the message?”

-holographic/transmission sound-

“At last the work of generations is complete, the day of victory is at hand, the day of the sith.
Send the fleet to the galaxy…let it burn.
The Final order begins”
“Yes my lord”

All that transpired regarding the rise and fall of the repulic is addressed as the work of generations. Same reaction shots, more context to the story. Spy plot is teased. Best of ALL, no half arsed introduction from Poe.
A few birds with one stone, if you ask me.

The leaked message being Palpatine’s orders to Pryde mixed with some dialogue from fortnight acts as a compelling alternative to “what’s the message?.. Somehow… pAlPAtiNe ReTUrnEd”. It also acts as a miss direction for the audiance, making them suspect Pryde as the Spy, when it’s actually Hux.

I just hated that goddamm Palpatine reveal at the resistance base. Having them react to Palpatine’s voice instead is just so much more impactful. In my opinion.

For the saber toss, I remember there was a much more dramatic take of that from the documentary. It seamed to really fit with the TFA ending. The issue was the string holding the saber being visible, and that Luke’s hand was pre-CG.

That would have been great to see, showing that Obi Wan knew all this time that Anakin was with Padme would have further enriched their character dynamic.

Yeah it’s the one before Anakin’s fall. Seams like there’s a lot that we haven’t seen from the prequels, deleted scene wise.

No. That could potentially endanger the survival of this site. The last thing we need is to bring more attention to ourselves. I think people should find their way here instead of vice-versa. Its a niche corner of the galaxy, I’m sure most of us would like it to stay that way.

Yeah Lando was a highlight. I wonder if they’ll do something post ROTJ with him.

“Comme home” is being done by DominiCobb. You would need a “you” to replace “There’s still light in him” I would suggest using “Me, you” from Leia’s discussion with Han in TFA.

For Leia’s death I think it would nice to extend her dialogue using lines from TFA: “there’s still light in him, I know it” could be used make “Ben, come home, there’s still light in you, I know it”

The shot of the medal could be played with, rotation, messing with the angle should make it fit.

My take on that is that JJ and Terrio rewrote and reshot so much that the scenes that ended up getting deleted didn’t really match the rest of the film.

Just a tiny detail, but there’s an unused shot of Poe reacting to Lando’s entrance that works really well.

I don’t know about studio meddling, but there was definitely meddling with TROS. George Lucas got involved, multiple endings were shot, even internet fan theories were on the table, etc. It sounded like a mess, which is completely antithetical to what we saw in that documentary The Skywalker Legacy released by the studio. Regardless, I’d love to see all that deleted/alternate footage.

IMO, it’s just crazy that JJ’s best film and his worst film ended up being in the same trilogy.

It’s most likely just a JJ-ism. TFA also had A LOT of its meat cut out.

My pipe dream is for Disney to eventually release the Assembly cuts of all the star wars films on Disney plus.
