For that sequence I think it would be better if it was arranged in order of the destroyers placement in the sky, so we would follow it as it falls to the ground.

I was wondering if you could do a version that doesn’t cut anything from the films, plot and story wise. That way you’re Edits could be used as a base for others.

I guess the idea was for Kylo to be a reverse Luke Skywalker in the way that he progresses from someone who is unsure and unexperienced in the “path”, and by the 3rd film becomes a fully fledged and dedicated follower of said “path”.

In the scene where Rey looks into the distance, I wonder if the temple could be rotoscoped into that shot somehow. It would kinda set up her training a new generation of Jedi down the line.

I would say this might be best. (Might have to skip the “Fortnight” message part altogether.) But, the Pryde Palpatine scene would either become very short, or lost, though. I do like spelling out that the First Order is going there to man the ship, and that scene is the only real way in any version of the film to soundly imply that.

Since kijjimi doesn’t get blown up in your version the line “Send the a ship to a world they know” is gone by default. The only line you actually lose is “the final order begins” which isn’t really much and you don’t lose any info from the scene.

This would work nicely as a pay off for the leaked message at the start of the film. Yes Hux was the First Order spy, but Pryde was a spy of another sort. Perhaps this could imply that Hux knew about Prydes allegiance and wanted to rat him out to Ren, while also revealing the Final Order. Two birds one stone.

Ah I see. Although an obstical that I can see with using either the line from the trailer or from ROTS is isolating the lines from the music.

Instead of re-using the line from ROTS maybe you could use the line from the trailer: “long have I waited, and now… The day of victory is at hand, the day of the Sith.”

For some reason JJ succumbed to the use of boring exposition in this film.
Having the resistance listen to a leaked discussion between Palpy and Proyed is, in my humble opinion, a very effective demonstration of “show, don’t tell”

While it’s a nice mockup, I don’t think it solves the main issue with the scene, namely, “somehow papa-memes returned”. After all, the reason why the Fortnite thing is even being considered is to finesse around that whole ordeal.

I don’t think it’s necessary to show them “decoding” the message since it doesn’t really add anything to the next scene, on the contrary it kinda drags it out unnecessarily. I think the original idea just flows better from an editing perspective, what’s the message? Answer: You hear the message. It just feels more dramatic to hear Palpatine’s leaked discussion along with the rest of the resistance for the first time.

In that clip, after Palpatine says “the work of generation is complete” there’s a few seconds with just the hologram filter and no dialogue. This could be looped over whatever modification you want to make 😉

That’s such a good idea. It demonstrates to the audience that Boolio was executed as a consequence of leaking Palpatine’s discussion with the first Order. Alerting the resistance to his existence and risking the secrecy of The Final Order operation. This gets rid of a huge problem in TROS, that Palpatine announced his plans to the entire galaxy before even executing them. As if he announced that Order 66 was going to happen prior to all the pieces being in place.

It also shows that the high command are perhaps trying to hide their allgience to Palpatine because they shut off the transmission just as Kylo arrives.

If someone wants to give it a shot, here’s how to create the new dialogue

Adding Palpatine’s theme over the dialogue would help cover any audio issues or original unwanted background music that may arise.
