Howard the Duck DVD Project
Time
Yeah, I'd have to be in the 'Howard' over 'B&R' camp. EVEN considering the fact that before 'Howard' came out I was a big fan of the comic (great 70s/80s socio-geekio-comicbookio-parody for those who have never read it... and big nods to the toy company for including a Howard toy with the Silver Surfer action figure... but I digress).

The film was a let-down in so very many ways... but maybe it was the age I was at when I saw it as opposed to the age I was seeing 'B&R' . I dunno.

Plus that stop-motion demony creature at the end was pretty boss!

Oh please no!! I think we've allready discussed our mutual hate for laugh tracks.

Don't worry! The laugh track is on an isolated audio track, giving you the option of turning it on or off at your leisure.

Thank you. *APPLAUSE SIGN*

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)
Time
I've watched both Magnoliafan edits (thanks to Spleen and Rikter) and I too would love to have a DVD quality set of them as opposed to Xvid.

So that I don't have to pester Mr. Blaksvn (who I am sure gets pestered quite enough ) could anyone who could help hook me up (I'm happy to provide blanks, self-addressed stamped envelopes, etc) either email or PM me?

Thanks all!

Didn't mean to make you have to hide your emotions like that at work, Bossk. My humblest apologies..

I had heard the 'urban legend' about the great Atair landfill caper some years ago, and was able to finally track it down here:

Urban Legend TRUE for Atari Burial

Oh the shaaaaammmmmeeeee.... all those E.T. carts destroyed! All those poor Reese's Pieces uneaten......

So there you have it. And thanks for making me feel even older than I already do, you whipper-snapper!

GC

PS: Remember back in the old days when we used to have to see 'Star Wars' in the *theatre*???? And we counted how many times we went???? LOL- in fact, I saw 'A New Hope' (or 'Star Wars' as *I* like to call it) 27 times in the theatre during the first two theatrical runs.

Hey Bossk!

Trust me... I'm up wit da humor! LOL. I think I should be able to hold my own (not like *that*) as sarcastically as anyone here... and I like a challenge!

I also love my Atari 2600! Whoo-hoo! Being 33 (nearly 34) I'm much more Atari than Playstation. I was just referring to the actual event where Atari dumped all sorts of overstock into the desert:

"but Atari, stuck with millions of games and consoles that were largely unsellable at any price, sent fourteen truckloads of merchandise from their plant in El Paso, Texas, to be dumped in a city landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico in late September 1983. In order to keep the site from being looted, steamrollers crushed and flattened the games, and a concrete slab was poured over the remains."

Many of those were copies of E.T., a game cart that I still own (somewhere in the garage at least).

Hello Windexed!

Good call on Matrix 2 & 3. Though I could barely stand them, if both were decently edited down to one film it *could* work... hmmm... I may even tackle that one some day- unless anyone else has already?

LOL-

I know! I agree! I came out of theatre from 'Batman and Robin' feeling violated in ways that it is hard to communicate. I tried to explain that to him, but he seems to think that somewhere, behind the rubber nipples, gratuitous butt shots, bad puns and Mexican-wrestler dudes saying 'bomb' repeatedly that there might be some substance.

I think it'd be about 2 minutes long.

Hey gang!

What other films would you like to see different versions of? To get the ball rolling:

1) Event Horizon- kinda a cool film but there supposedly exists about 45 minutes of additional footage which I'm guessing is mainly characterization. I think this could make a much more satisfying picture.

2) A friend of mine truly believes that the movie 'Batman and Robin' could be fan edited into something watchable. I think its utter dog crap and there's not a chance. Any thoughts?

Idea & Info: a Dune Fan Edit thread...
Time
I may be in the minority here, but I really dug the Sci-Fi mini series... though I had the same problem with it that I had (stress *had*) with the new Battlestar Galactica series- namely the hype and commercial television breakage of the series. I couldn't watch 'Dune' when it aired as I just find the excessive commercials off-putting... majorly. You just can't get in to the flow of the story. But on DVD (the second release)- man I liked it! I sat and watched the whole thing straight. It was like seeing a whole new series.

And not to digress the thread, but Battlestar was the same way. I'm a fan of the original, I tried to watch the mini-series and thought it was total ass. But thanks to encouraging reviews from the guys at theDigitalBits.com I gave it a second try on DVD... and was hooked. Then, thanks to friends in certain alt.b groups, I was able to watch the entire first season before the 6th episode had aired in the States (viva UK!) and like a junkie I want more!! LOL.

But let me also chip in my vote for a fan-edit of 'Dune'. It was a gorgeous film no matter what version I've watched, and I've always been curious about what the loooong version would be like.
