Changes from ROTS teaser
Time
Good calls, Patrick. My friend Alex and I noticed the arm change as well and it does help hide Hayden's girly little arms... lol.

Though I already have tickets to the first show of ROTS (sorry- a tradition starting with my Mom taking me to the opening night of SW when I was 6 years old on through the recent films) I still have my reservations about it. Not that I think it will suck; much like Apple Computer's old motto, I think this prequel will 'suck less' than AOTC just as AOTC 'sucked less' than TPM.

What is truly sad is that I find myself judging these films not by how good they are but instead by to what degree they suck. That's an awful way to be but I (and apparently many others) can't help it.

As a system administrator, I have done thousands of installs of Nero and Roxio and they are sometimes the cause of problems with computers spontaneously restarting and getting the dreaded BSOD (Alcohol 120% has never done this to me on a Windows XP machine).

Also, I am a big fan of DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor. You have got to love programs that are free, small and do what they advertise. Anyways, I do not want to hijack this thread but if you are going to buy a program for burning purposes, you should give Alcohol 120% a try.

After several BSODs, I quite often turn to 120% Alcohol. Sometimes more, sometimes less of a pecentage, depending on how frustrated I am and what I have on hand to drink.

That's funny.

But I want the gun turret all the same. And Gundark still gets "shotgun."

But it DOES make me think- in the days before firearms, when someone wanted to ride in the passenger seat or side of something like a chariot or carriage, did they yell out "Crossbow!" or "Battleaxe!" or some such???

So. Does anybody have a way to burn it on DVD or not?

heh heh- I didn't mean to offend your sick computer. At the Revelations website they offer both discs (in .ISO format) of the the DVD set which was given away at the premiere... so that is what I downloaded and burned, so yes it is DVD format and yeah I can get you a copy. Cool?

Have patience, oh Jedi Master with dial-up... let me know if the 'Holiday Special' works for ya when you get get it and I'll hook you up with this one too- I downloaded and burned it last night, but haven't watched it yet.

Uhhh... sorry Kev.

I didn't think there was anything in this pic that gave anything away. Both are characters already established in previous OT movies. And, er, I was kidding about the 'Plastic Jesus' thing. I'd imagine that's not what it is in the movie. Seriously.

and Geez... good thing I didn't mention that Anakin becomes Darth Vader in this movie... that would have REALLY pushed kev over the edge!

For what its worth, what *I'd* like to see is an Indy adventure in which Harrison doesn't try to pull off being young himself but plays it closer to his real age. Set the film during the Cold War (giving it almost a 'Bond' quality) with new challenges but throwing in some familiar stuff like having Nazi war criminals or something. Basically bridge the gap between the original movies (the OT.. lol) and the 'Young Indy' series in which, continuity-wise, we know Indy is alive into modern times (albeit very old). At the finale of my film I'd like to have him lose his eye, again bringing continuity to the series.

And what's the status of the new Indiana Jones?

Lucas: "I talked to Steven while I was in Hawaii, and he said the script is done and he was going to send it to me when I got back, which was yesterday. It isn't on my desk today and he's coming up tomorrow to see Star Wars, so I assume he'll bring it with him."

You guys do well when you collaborate in Hawaii. Things tend to work out there.

Lucas: "Yeah. We're frantically trying to finish War of the Worlds at the same time. We'll see. I look forward to reading it and seeing if it's what we laid out in the first place. You never know."

Is there anything we can reveal about it?

Lucas: "It's...um...No."

You had an idea of what was planned before they wrote the script?

Lucas: "Oh yeah. I came up with this idea doing Young Indy, which has got to be about seven or eight years ago, and we've been through a number of scripts--six or eight scripts. Six scripts, two rewrites. So it's been down the path. There were certain aspects of it that Steven and Harrison [Ford] didn't like, and so we changed those, and then we laid out a version and it didn't come out the way it was supposed to, and then we did another version and it didn't come out, so we've just been going through this development hell, which happens once in a while. We'll see. When it comes out, it'll be different. Different, but the same."

And Harrison's staying in shape all this time, right, in case he has to take his shirt off?

Lucas: "No, he's plays an older person in this."

Is it true that there may be a younger person in this, poised to take over?

Lucas: "It's possible. Not really to take over."

But someone to create new movies with?

Lucas: "No, it wasn't meant to be that way. But I guess that's a possibility. It's really to wrap it up. Just desperately trying to put things together that work. You need characters to make the film work. It's not just an adventure story. There's actually got to be human relationships in it."

Are you still planning on bringing back some of the other characters from the previous films?

Lucas: "Yeah."

Can you say who?

Lucas: "No." [laughs]

Mrs. Spielberg, perhaps?

Lucas: "Well, there are a lot of rumors out there. Some of them are true. True-ish."

Please dear God or Buddha or Bob or whomever... don't let them F*** up Indiana Jones!!!!!!!

ROTS Review by Kevin Smith... EXTREME SPOILERS!
Time
Hmmm... not that all the 'points' made weren't accurate to the spoilers I've seen already but....

that just didn't seem like Kevin Smith's style of writing. The 'speech' pattern seemed off. And it really wasn't so much of a review as it was, I dunno, just a random list of spoilers and things to look for that link ROTS to the other movies.

Almost as if someone handed Kevin or someone at Askew a press release and said "Hey dude- the geek crowd respects you opinion. Tell them it things they want to hear."

I dunno, just me maybe.

If Quigon was flat, then how do you describe Obiwan? Or Panaka? Geez.

I think they were all flat. As we've discussed elsewhere, good actors and greenscreens do not always mix. Or perhaps GL's first directing gig out of his years of not doing it. See the new 'Batman Begins' trailer for Liam Neeson playing basically the same character and already seemingly doing a much better job at it.
